Just tested my P938 with the safety off and hammer cocked. I dropped it at waist level with the muzzle up and the fucking hammer dropped. The safety does prevent the trigger from being pulled, but without the safety, the hammer will fucking drop. The P938 isn't drop safe if the manual safety is off.
>>61957570Are you sure that’s not the sear being jostled off the hammer so the safety cannot prevent the hammer from falling?
>>61957570Yeah. Fuck SAO
>>61957581desu, I have no clue. But without the safety, the hammer drops. I don't reload, so no case with only the primer. Maybe I have a virgin snap cap somewhere.
>>61957570>sig isn't drop safeI mean yeah, I would have put money on that lol
>>61957570Are you sure the hammer falls all the way? Many SAOs have a half cock position which will stop the hammer from falling full onto the firing pin. Does the 948 have a firing pin block? Post underside of slide.
>>61957603>>61957581Yes, it does have a firing pin block. It does indeed stop the hammer at the half cock position. Pretty sure its drop safe. Will test with a virgin snap cap soon.
>>61957566Ah yes, have a weak af fuck topnlock with a shitty bottom firing revolver.Worst of all worlds.
>>61957553Ok but is the Glock 26 still relevant for CCing compared to more modern choices ?

I for one enjoy watching this schizo meltdown at patterns
Outside of .22, while 9mm is my cheapest (practical) option for semi-auto, what is my cheapest option for revolver? Just .38? I wanna dip my toe into revolvers but I haven't committed yet
>>619576321 bottom firing top break 10 shot revolver in .22 mag please
>>61957720You can get a revolver in 9mm if ammo cost is your main issue.I never shoot my revolvers anymore, and haven't bought ammo in a while for them, but I swear 38 wasn't that much cheaper than 357.And when the election panic comes, 38 is unibtanium, boomers hit that and 22 first.
>>61957723Bottom firing revolvers are shit, unreliable and bad triggers.
>>61957725>but I swear 38 wasn't that much cheaper than 357It really isn’t, even now. If I can buy a box of one for $40 and a box of the other for $45, I’m not saving much by running .38. And I have noticed prices going up on .38 range ammo. Sucks to like shooting revolvers. > And when the election panic comes, 38 is unibtaniumStocking up now in preparation for that. I really should get more bulk 5.56 too because that always goes oos around election time.
>>61957659Well get somebody else to make a handgun that balances >price>quality>meme factorAnd the spaghetti spam will stop.
>>61957757CZ, but people call them “reddit” here
>>61957725>>61957751You really have to get into reloading to shoot revolvers a lot these days if you don't want to pay rifle ammo tier prices. I shoot .38s for 17 cpr
>>61957766Sorry, the mere rumor of the firing pin retaining pin and trigger return spring and also the take down pin constantly breaking will prevent me from ever carrying a CZ. If I can’t carry it, I might as well not own it
>>61957769If I ever get into reloading I’m shooting .45lc
>>61957766>CZPrice is fineMeme factor is poor- they're fairly anonymous in media, those that know know their reputationQuality is shoddy- most guns don't have springs and pins that are considered wear items. It's either a flawed design that overstresses these items or inferior materials that have persisted for years.
Does anyone have experience with the Beretta 96D (double action only)? I have been looking at LEO trade in G23s to use for backpacking, but stumbled across the 96D at a pawn shop. It has an odd plastic shell around the frame to allow for a light. I own a 92x and a G27 and like them both for their separate applications. If I'm thinking of using hardcast ammo for bear defense, would it make more sense to use a steal frame handgun? Thoughts?
>>61957645>>61957659You guys had at least 2 hours since the last one hit bump limit to create your own and take Beretta 1301 away from someone who was obviously going to post about the shotgun. You have nobody to blame but yourselves, quit whining.
>>61957766He said quality, so CZ is out
>>6195780740 is shit.Get 9mm or 10mm
>>6195780796D is a double action only variant of the 96, it has a cool slick side slide, there is nothing stopping you from dropping in DA/SA components, you just won’t have a decocker and must manually decock. It is not steel frame. None of the 90 series guns are steel frames except rare models and the 92X Performance. The middle one is a 96D Vertec I converted to DA/SA. It’s a been a while since I shot .40 out of a 96, it wasn’t pleasant. Bears aren’t video game enemies, they’re just as vulnerable to bullets as anything else. You can buy suitable 9mm rounds for bears, either hard cast, FMJ, or solid copper spear points, if it can go IIIA body armor I think you won’t have an issue with a bear, so I’ll put in a recommendation for Fort Scott TUI 9mm, get the 92gr ammo or whatever is the pointiest.
>>61957807The 96 (not the -A1, just the original 96) is underbuilt for .40 S&W and has a typical service life of maybe 10k rounds.Looks sick, though.
>>61957807.40 is designed for expansion, 9mm is more than enough for penetrating bears and you get more capacity. If you want peace of mind with more firepower, 10mm/.357 or hotter

I'm surprised the weight doesn't help with recoil though. Chuke had posted a video about accuracy vs stopping power comparing 9mm to 10mm, figured 40 was still a good compromise. >>61957846Good info thanks, the life was definitely a concern since most of the trade ins are gen4 now. The linkless barrel design is superior to the linked barrel on the 1911, it’s a shame that it died since if S&W shilled it as a competition gun in the 2010s the S&W 3rd gen’s may have found a new lease on life as steel framed DA/SAs like the CZ Shadow 2. Crockett on Miami Vice uses a 4506 after the Bren Ten
>>61958040>I won't ruin anything for you aside from Shane killing LemI already knew that. Accidentally read that a few days back. I have to stop reading about the shows I watch.
>>61958045
>>61958065
>>61957725>>61957751Ok but to be fair any centerfire handgun caliber that isn't 9mm costs at least as much as .38SPL. If you shoot .40, .45, or .380 you're paying 40 to 50 cents per round, and the price only goes up from there. So yes, compared to 9mm it's expensive but compared to anything else it's not.

Any of you have experience with this pistol carbine conversion kits? I have a glock 45 and was considering one of these kits. Does anyone have experience with or recommendations for any of these? $300-350 seems reasonable and then that would likely be my bedside gun, or are there issues with them that make going with a typical carbine more worth it? Pic related is the Recover Tactical P-IX, i had also seen the MCK micro conversion kit but i'm sure there are many others. I have a 9mm AR carbine but the thing jams a lot.
>>61958729guns like this, the Streetmaster especially. I think I can get something similarly made but it won't have the magic.

>>61958729Beretta pX4 storm
>>6195877292FS
>>61958733All this would achieve is to make your Glock worse, both as a gun generally and as a home defense weapon. Taking a pistol and making it larger, heavier, less reliable, and unable to be operated with one hand and laying $350 to do it. What are you thinking?
>>61958788>92FSThe wops destroyed this country, I won't be buying any of their products.
>>61958772S&W 3rd gen, 4516, 3913, 4016, etc. These are 90s guns but it's what people in the 80s would have carried if they were out. Detonic's Combat Master, the first subcompact .45, the first subcompact 1911, the first 1911 with a barrel length of 3.X inches, expensive gun in the 70s and 80s, double the cost of a 1911 at the time. Can be found for less than 1k, parts are unobtainable and people who own them and intend to shoot them own multiple. A guy near me has 5+. Most of the parts are 1911 standard parts, a few are proprietary. If you were into conceal carry in the 70s and 80s this was the hottest piece of hardware.
>>61958772Beretta 92 or Glock 17
>>61958817Don't worry, it's made in TN.
>>61958772Beretta 92FS and it isn't even close. The gun is virtually unchanged if not completely unchanged from when it was in every action movie you liked in the 80s.
>>61958825Detonic's Combat Master gives you 6+1 .45 ACP for the size a J frame revolver.
What is a handgun you don't own that if you saw someone at the range with it, youd ask if you could shoot it?
>>61958841It is legitimately unchanged. Outside of the modernization I have on mine and it now being US made it's the same as my dad's from the 80s.
>>61958809Is it really making it worse? Weight sure but i dont see how something like this MCK Micro Conversion Kit is making the gun any less reliable, and i am much better at shooting accurately with some kind of brace or stabilizer and just hand placement. It's no excuse and i need to practice with both my handguns more but they still seem nice to have and fun on the range. Ideally i would have a suppressed SBR 5.56 as my home defense but that gets much more costly. You could also definitely shoot this one handed, although i dont feel like there are a lot of situations in which youre shooting one handed and actually planning on landing shots.
>>61958867I can't wait for this trend to die. Just buy a used stribog and use it as a suppressor host. You don't need a fucking exoskeleton on your glock to fulfill whatever home defense fantasy you have.
>>61958867You're covering the ejection port, covering most of the slide with a housing prone to getting bullshit stuck inside it, making the gun harder to rack, bulkier, and just generally taking everything good about a pistol and shitting on it. These are stupid. If you want a PCC, get a PCC. There are plenty of reasonably priced options. These chassis are just an overpriced pile of future microplastics.
Speaking of the 92, I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out a holster for it that would be compatible with safariland QL system. It seems that the best bet is to get an x300 for it and then try to find something like a Phlster which retains off the light?
>>61958892>stribogSo, spend 2-3x the money and get basically the same thing? >You don't need a fucking exoskeleton on your glock to fulfill whatever home defense fantasy you have.If the glock is my home defense gun why not just have it be better at that. It would also just be nice to have a carbine to shoot at the range as 9mm is way cheaper than 5.56>>61958895It was noted that it's going to dirty the glock more but that doesnt seem like that big of a deal, you just make sure you clean it and i cant imagine the wear and tear would be significant. I was looking at PSAs carbines but theyre way more expensive. I guess i could try to figure out the problem with the carbine i have but i have a feeling ill need to take it to a gun smith to do so so whatever that would end up costing seems more worth going to something id prefer instead of >>61957706 which is long and heavy and non-common mags.
>>61958928Dutygear? https://langdontactical.com/us-duty-gear-holsters-for-beretta-92/
>>61958930>basically the same thingNot even close.>If the glock is my home defense gun why not just have it be better at that?Because you're NOT making it better as a home defense gun. If you aren't good enough with a pistol to shoot accurately in rapid fire at 15 yards or less you need to train, and if you can't train you need to buy a 12g pump or just get rid of your guns entirely.
>>61958930>So, spend 2-3x the money and get basically the same thing? It's not the same thing at all, it's an actual pcc instead of chunks of plastic adding failure points to your glock. It sounds like your mind is made up, so by all means, buy it. Not sure why you even bothered to ask us
>>61958928Yeah either just get a Safariland holster or something like the floodlight. Also kydex holster manufacturers are a cottage industry now and there are a bunch of companies like Legacy Firearms that make custom kydex for guns with weapon lights even with QLS forks as standard.

>>61958948my mind is not made up, it wasnt really something i was considering until i saw the Henry survival rifle and mentioned it to a friend and he said he was thinking of getting their homesteader carbine and that lead me to maybe it would be better to just get something like this for a gun i already own instead of buying another one. Maybe use it for home defense or just for having cheaper fun at the range, or both. If these are just shitty chunks of plastic i wonder if i can find some STL files for something similar and just 3d print it. I would like to get the PSA in like a 4" or 8" and a folding brace but then i have to go through FFL and its just a lot bigger of a hassle, so i figured id see how these are and if i can save myself the time, trouble, and money. I also saw these folks >>61935249, >>61948469, and >>61933975 at /pccg/ that look like they had similar kits so i assumed they couldnt be too terrible but maybe i was wrong.

>>61959000>no duty holsters for a gun no one carries for dutyMakes sense really
>>61959021I know sig is the military's hot shit right now but wasn't the Beretta the go to for a long time?
>>61959025Standard military wasn't buying from safariland for holsters. They were pretty rare among police departments, especially since safariland became the holster standard.
>>61959035Was standard military seriously using cloth holsters?
>>61958996I'm sure they're fun for a range toy, but they're worse in every single way compared to an actual pcc, and if you're actually considering using it for self defense purposes you're introducing potential points of failure to your handgun. You have a glock, even people that hate glocks don't pretend that they're unreliable firearms. They're the "end of the world" handgun in many minds. Don't put it inside a cuck cage and raise the potential for malfunctions in a scenario where you expect to be defending your life. I understand wanting to save money, avoiding a trip to the ffl, avoiding a $40 transfer fee, etc., but my advice is to take whatever money it would cost you to buy one for your glock, invest in a wml, and spend the rest on training and ammo. You don't need a carbine for home defense (are they more powerful/effective? Potentially sure), you just need to be able to put as many hollow points center mass as possible with your handgun.

Hard polymer hadn't developed as a duty-capable holster material until roughly the early 2000's. The only other real alternative before then was leather.
>>61959025Most people issued handguns in the military were people who had almost 0 use for a gun.
>>61959081Yeah that's true, but also picrel
>>61959064There have only ever been 5 police departments to issue it, LAPD only issued it for ~5 years before they allowed others to be carried, and only about 10 years total when LAPD could carry it at all.
>>61959042>wmlnot sure what this means. I do have a fair amount of ammo it's just a pretty long drive to go out shooting from where i am and i dont care for going to a normal range so usually just go out now and then and shoot for a couple hours. My buddy and i only just started getting better targets (like re-popup ones) and stuff. I'd like to be able to setup an actual pistol clearing course but thats a while off. My carry gun is a s&p shield in 9mm but im considering the same appendix holster for the glock 45 and using that instead. Having 8+1 and a 7 round mag isnt ideal but i liked how thin it was for carry purposes. I mostly bought the glock so i didnt have to reload as often when we go shooting.

As far as dry firing goes how are those laser systems? When i do dry fire drills it doesnt seem like im doing anything wrong but i think i must just not be aiming right. Im absolutely terrible with irons though so maybe just getting a red dot for the glock at least would be worth it.
>>61959145WML stands for Will Meet Ladyboys. Like the one that keeps posting its Colt 1908 in the thread.
>>61959171Dry fire is something you can do for free, why spend money to do it beyond a snap cap or used case? >terrible with irons Maybe try getting a dot, dots aren’t magic and take a skill to use effectively but they add so much ways you can train. The dot is where the bullet goes so if you dry fire you can keep track of the barrel when you pull the trigger with much more precision than dry firing with irons. “Presentation” drills where you bring the gun up to a firing position, a red dot is harder to present so you need to train harder to be able to do it, making both your iron and dot shooting better.
>>61959171There are laser systems that work well (mantis seems to be popular) but knowing what to look for is free. One of the goals of dry firing is to hammer into your mind and body the form required to make a bullet impact where you're looking. You can do this by drawing from low ready, aiming at a target (or light switch, whatever) then adjusting your eyes to your sights to see where you were actually aiming. Make a slight adjustment until they're lined up, try to remember how it "felt", and do it again. Over and over. Eventually you'll naturally be aiming exactly where your eyes are focused. Then you can focus on training out flinching and other bad habits

>>61960846I can't carry a shotgun over my shoulder all day as I work. Not sure if I would want to either. They're also not as good at HD as people think either. They're really long. Most homes have doorways in corner of a room. As an example, we'll say the door is on the East wall, Northeast corner. You can see the Northwest and Southwest corners without entering the room. You can't see the Southeast corner, which shares a wall with the door. You need to check that corner, which means getting your gun pointed at a potential intruder there. There's three ways to do it with an overlength gun:>Have it in a ready position as you strafe through the doorway and raise it as you cross the threshold>Have it shouldered and aim forward as you cross the threshold, then sweep left so you can put the muzzle on the blind corner>Short-stock the shotgun to effectively reduce overall length, which can work but means you are trying to aim the thing in an unfamiliar way and if it's an inertia shotgun could potentially cause a malfunctionOr you just use a handgun, AR pistol, or SBR for your home defense gun and avoid all this nonsense.

Anyone know of a good place to find duty light bearing holster for the SP-01 I’m having trouble tracking down one
>>61962865Please stop posting sexy CZs, I have already bought four handguns this year and I do not have a CZ.
>>61962865Legacy Firearms Co, not sure how much they have for duty
I have received my $38 Hi-Point CF380, came with 2 mags and a thick layer of grime. I opted out of taking the frame, it was already disassembled and I wasn't planning to use it, so we skipped the paperwork and I just bought the parts. I'm 3D printing a cash-green frame for it, I'm designing some fun grips to make for it, and I already ordered a can of gold spraypaint from Amazon. Step 1, I put the slide on a stone and flattened the sides, they were smooth but not remotely flat before, disgusting. Now it's soaking to strip the powder coating off. I'm out of aircraft stripper and feeling lazy so it's soaking in acetone, which is good enough. I've selected a $2 flashlight I'm going to paint gold to match the slide and attach as a wml. I still don't know what to do for optics. I really want a fuck-huge red dot on it but I'm trying to keep my total budget for the project under $70, and I'm already in for $50. I guess I can do a Chinese airsoft red dot, but I know it won't actually be usable. Recommendations for a shit-tier sight of any variety? Something that fits the theme of being spraypainted garbage.

>>61962887Instead of a red dot, pull a laser from a Blu-ray player and build a home brew LAM with a 3D printed housing.
>>61962878I glad you like it’s a amazing gun and it has a great aftermarket too

>>61962900I actually have a bag of laser diodes, I make laser pointers from disposable e-cigs, usually give them away as gifts. I can build the flashlight into a printed housing that also holds a laser too. Still, it'll leave the slide bare. I guess I could make a laser that sits on top, then there'll be two lasers that shift with every shot.
>>61958219>>61958220>>61958238>>61958372>>61958382I'm so proud of you guys>>61958729Any of the numerous Walther prototypes, especially models that didn't make it to production like the PP90 or Volkespistole>>61959380>>61959462The trigger is not that bad, it's just not good is all. It's the same trigger as a P30 or on balance about the same as a USP (better DA but worse SA). Go try any of those if you can't try a P2000.You used to be able to get used P2000s in the low $400s everywhere or for $600 new. Now $550 is probably not unreasonable for a used one and they're more like low $700s new which I guess is not that bad after 5 years of bidenflation and HK price hiking. Talking about 9mm of course, not that .40 garboAnyway here's the cheapest one I found both under $700. V2 is heavy LEM, you can change that to V1 (light LEM) with a couple of inexpensive springshttps://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/81000041V3 is DA/SA with decockerhttps://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/81000037
>>61962662Officially better than pp anon
>>61962951a low bar, to be sure
>>61962951You don't know at what speed, or with what kind of grip
>>61963005True but I wouldnt sweep for the twink
>>61963005Using a one handed grip was his(?) decision. One handed shouldn’t change slow fire groups that much, your fundamentals don’t change from one hand to two hand, or that’s just me, I think using your support hand to counter act your trigger press to be a complete meme and counter productive. Speed? She(?) could have always just posted slow fire groups and not embarrass themselves using every bit of that target. They should stop trying stupid fucking one handed drills they read about from the 1930s and just train the fundamentals.
>>61962945Thanks for the good info Burt. I'm huge HKfag and I think I might buy an P2000 soon. I want the V2 LEM so I can fiddle with the trigger a bit and make it nicer. However, I'm also the ODG HKfag who already has a green USP, USP Tactical, and VP9 Tactical/Match slide and barrel. The issue with the ODG P2000 is it's only a V3, and even if I converted it to V0, it'd still have the spurred hammer and decocker button, which kinda detracts from the smooth and clean aesthetic of the LEM/V2 (and as an HKfag, clearly aesthetics are all I car about). If I don't want decide what to buy soon, I'll probably just kill myself, but then I'd be a similar conundrum of decided which neat HK to an hero with and I'd come right back here to complain/question.

>>61963005for me it was around 1 shot every 1 second, weaver stance. the range I use has had its pistol range under construction for about 6 months now, so I haven't been able to shoot pistols at a distance under 25 yards for a while.
