My only “modern” ARs are an SBR’d Colt 6933 and a 16” carbine gas fixed front sight BCM, and both of those are only “modern” if it were still like 2012. I want a basic free floated upper, preferably longer than 11.5” but I also don’t want another carbine gas 16”. I can stick it on my SBR lower or just use another lower. I don’t want to break the bank but also don’t want something super cheap, $750-$1000 would be ideal. What’s my best bet in that general price range for a simple general purpose free floated upper or am I overthinking not having a free floated rifle with all my fixed front sight ARs?

Need some help
Just assembled my first AR. Took it to the range, everything works fine. I put some MBUS Pros on it and I can get it to match zeroes with my XPS, but only if I completely deck the front sight, I mean twist the adjustment knob for the sight ALL the way so it bottoms out, and I don't like that 'cause it's hard to center with the wings covering so much of the sight picture. Clearly I fucked up, but not sure how. Visually it looks completely flat. Using the closest I can find to a straight edge it seems to line up. What do you think is the fix? Lapping the upper receiver? The upper is Aero, the hand guard is Geissele MK14.

Anons I've found an actual FN 3S679 C A M4 14.5 complete upper at a gun show months back bought it. Only problem, it doesn't have a BCG nor a charging handle to go with it. Can I use an AO precision BCG and call it good or is it considered blasphemous to not use a proper F Marked bcg? Did a thorough google search on who provides BCGs to FN and AO Precision is their supplier. Even those expensive FN America BCGs at Primary Arms looks identical to AO Precision's BCG.

After owning a few ARs I have come to the conclusion that free floating doesn't really matter outside of SPRs/DMRs/whatever. Inside of 500 you will get more than acceptable accuracy from a quality non FF rifle unless you're in the tightest loop sling known to man.

Carbine length M4geries are the best compromise of weight and balance and I'm not gonna sacrifice that for some competitionfag meme.

the manganese phosphate on my URGI barrel burned off causing rust to form around the gas block. I contacted Geisselle about this and they had me ship the upper back for them to look at and concluded that I basically cooked it off due to high rate of fire with a suppressor on, which I guess but I do that with every AR I own just about. Clearly most of PSAs rifles are fine but you want to show some issues and think PSA cannot make a good rifle is dumb.
