With the development of projects like the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS), and advancements in unmanned platforms, Europe seems to be starting to give a shit about their own defense. Do you lads think these projects will go anywhere or are they dead on arrival?

>GCAP
Works out fine, various euro nations buy it
>FCAS
Rafale 2, germany leaves the project because french act french, some third world nations buy it
>MGCS
Works out fine because the french are mostly pushed out of it, arrives 2040 and becomes the new standard for ground vehicles for the majority of europe
>Unmanned platforms
Every other euro develops their own drone, most of which work fine. At least two unmanned light jet fighter projects reach maturity and work fine. Unmanned ground vehicles are attempted before they are viable and abandoned again.

The good thing about europe is that a lot of the new stuff to come is pretty low threshold, i.e. drone, missile and networking tech. So the doing it alone approach that most procurement agencies will do in the end will yield not only working equipment, but also so many models of it that some of it will invariably be good and copied by others to some degree.

What it needs:
>Diesel-electric drive
Has tons of advantages in combat. Also necessary to create the amount of electric energy necessary. Could possibly do turbine-electric instead.
>Wading down to at least 10m depth (battery driven) and staying submerged for a decent amount of time
Where we're going we don't need bridges or floating capability. Also imagine staying hidden submerged.
>Optionally manned/1 man crew->make provisions to actually use the space you're saving
>Integral APS and anti-drone defense
Every combat vehicle needs those.

From that platform, it should be possible to create basically every kind of combat vehicle necessary.

I'll give it max 10 years until it becomes a moving target for drones.
