But the rifling is ass. So it sucks for pistol rounds and it sucks for .410. Also, all the ammo is expensive. I do have a stockpile of 410 as a small game hunter but I'd rather use my shotguns. Even the judge carbine is rifled which makes it ass for hunting small game. The carbine is decent for coyote, raccoon, and maybe deer with the right slug.

Some gun people like to fantasize about defense situations all the time. That said, if you live in the south and have kinds then find a venomous snake in your garage, you could use shot shells. Some people in Florida will hunt invasive snakes and they taste alright. I think unless its a python, and its the snake in the garage situation, you're better off with fine shot from a 357 or 38.
>>64409650As I understand it, the rifling is ass for a reason- as in, the twist rate is astronomically slow so the barrel is essentially grooved and has little to no effect on the round. At short ranges, any deviation caused by the shit rifling is negligible. Inside ten yards, a cloud of pellets will fuck up a small creature and really ruin a persons day.

For real hunting i'd rather use a full length, choked, smooth bore shotgun. For close range pest control i'd rather use a shotshell out of a 38 or 357. For actual self defense, I'd say the same.
