Todd recently made a great comparison of the trigger system of ancient Chinese crossbows compared with European-style crossbows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_PyntQkxmI&t=416s

Why did you speed it up
>>
>>64602329
Because otherwise this segment of the video wouldn't fit the 2:00 video limit of 4chan

The fact that It can use a regular bow as their limbs means that they can use the same ammunition as their archers

Implessive
>>

No, that's not the implessive bit.

The implessive bit was getting the crossbow repeating. While your ancestors was poking in the mud with sticks.

>The implessive bit was getting the crossbow repeating.
You mean an utterly useless toy that's less powerful than a blowgun?
>While your ancestors was poking in the mud with sticks
There's never been a period in history when china wasn't a fake mud-eating cesspit nation that was only capable of spreading legs before foreign invaders.
>>
>>64602474
>that's less powerful than a blowgun?
That one might be. I'm confident I can build one with more power.

>that was only capable of spreading legs before foreign invaders.
Yeah that's right. They built a fighting style suitable for every peasant armed with farming tools because their first move is open legs...

The levels of delusion you're prepared to immerse yourself in, in order to make yourself feel that little bit better about your massive failures in every facet of existence are truly impressive.

Both of the designs have a rotating shelf to hold the string and a trigger with a sear surface.
The Chinese design just has an extra part for more leverage.
The European one is vastly simpler and could easily be adapted for cheap bronze casting if desired. For example by extending the sear surface of the shelf further from the pivot for more leverage and lower sear surface forces. This guys is retarded and doesn't know what he's talking about.

>I'm confident I can build one with more power.
I'm confident that you can't even power an existing replica of that pea shooter with your little bug limbs.
>They built a fighting style suitable for every peasant armed with farming tools
They failed at fighting back against every invader using that style and have a cuck tradition of offering their wives to travellers just passing by, not even seeking to conquer them. A literal eunuch nation.
>The levels of delusion you're prepared to immerse yourself in
Funny of chinksects to talk about delusion.
>your massive failures in every facet of existence
I'm not a chink subhuman though.

That, and medievil crossbows prolly wouldn't have steel. Took a while for that to come out, and then it was confined to sheffield's armoury and reserved for the king's armour for quite some time...
>>
>>64602493
Are you talking about kung fu? The martial art known for being showy and not at all practical?
>>
>>64602495
>and could easily be adapted for cheap bronze casting if desired
that's kind of pointless to do because you can make it out of wood and horn instead, which are infinitely cheaper and more accessible and improve the efficiency of the trigger.

the only reason they started using metal trigger nuts alongside horn ones is because they last longer in storage, in fact that's why we have fully functional surviving examples of the mechanism today centuries later.
>>
>>64602515
it's probably this, another authentic chinese martial art involving dressing up as animals and trying to scream and cry your enemy into retreating
>>
>>64602507
>your little bug limbs.
Explaining the lack of difficulty I have cranking back my 320lb draw mofo sat on the wall.

>They failed at fighting back against every invader
Explaining how right up until they was invaded with firearms, when the emporor decried there was to be no foriegners internally. None was there.

>Funny of chinksects to talk about delusion.
Being able to analyse something for what it is and not have to instantly resort to unrelated personal attacks doesn't make me automagically a 'chinksect'. It just means you're a fucking retard that can't observe reality because it hurt their thinkbox too much and has to make shit up as they go along in order to make it fit into their preconvieved narative that directly conflicts reality.

>I'm not a chink subhuman though.
Neither am I. Neither of those facts detract from the fact that you are retarded spastic incapable of independant thought, limited to the memes you've absorbed via docile media because your lack of thought prevents you from forming an informed opinion.
>>
>>64602495
Did you even watch the video?
>>
>>64602515
>The martial art known for being showy and not at all practical?
I was.
And yes, The stylised forms are more about making the other guy look good, but that doesn't detract from it's usability.

It seemed to be that effective that japan started up on their own to be able to compete.
>>
>>64602529
But japanese martial arts are not at all like kung fu. And what does it have to do with anything, anyway? Farmers defending themselves with whatever is at had is a universal trait
>>
>>64602547
>And what does it have to do with anything, anyway?
Yeah. I suppose china being constantly invaded by the japanese had nothing to do with why they came up with martial arts.

When this caused failure, I'm sure it had nothing to do with .jp developing their own to compensate, too.

You're right. It's completely irrelevant.
