>mayor in philippines survives RPG assassination attempt

FUCKING HOW?
>>
Lmao what the fuck that backblast. are they ok?
>>
>>64799789
Probably made in China.
>>
This is giving me memories from Afghanistan. Do people just not understand backblast?
>>
Can a vehicle be so thin-skinned that a shaped charge passes through? We see an explosion but the pressure force might not have been contained to the passenger compartment.

No idea.
>>
>>64799807
From what I am seeing it looks like they legit might have missed and hit the ground underneath it.

LMAO at the faggot backblasting his pal. Good job.

>How?
Shaped charge warheads is the typical kind for weapons like these, explosion is focused forward, which is excellent for cutting through vehicle armor (and some barricades), but limits 'area of effect' so to say. I can imagine that the unarmored car also let the rocket pass through a bit before detonating (it expects hard armor, not crumply modern cars), so depending on where he was in the car, the blast may have gone partially or mostly past him.

Probably hurt his ears pretty good though, and may have had other minor injuries.
I could definitely believe that someone might survive that. Now, if he took a direct hit, as in the rocket hit his body, then the speed and mass of the projectile itself would do a number on him, and probably actually kill him that way, even if it would probably fail to even detonate (has happened a few times in Vietnam and Afghanistan).

>>64799793
Chinese RPG7s and their warheads should more or less have parity with the Soviet ones. Ergo still decent and usable, even if dated, just use them not-retardedly. I'm pretty sure the Chinese themselves regard these as kind of legacy products by now.

>>64799797
I think they have their own flavor of Islamic Terrorists in Flipland, so maybe that has something to do with it.
>>
>>64799789
Seeing the windows didn't get blown out I'm guessing the SUV is pretty well armoured which means only the shaped charge jet gets inside, if the jet doesn't touch you then you survive (maybe with burns).
I'm more interested in red shirt tanking the backblast, maybe it's just the angle making it look like he's in the way when he isn't, maybe it's AI slop.
>>
>>64799789
For what reason?
Muslims?
>>
>>64799819
How you send an angry letter in the Philippines to your local official.
>>
>>64799815
I think it actually is an RPG 2 from the looks of it?

Oh, looking closer, that's not even an RPG-7, or clone, rather that seems like it's an even older RPG-2 (or clone).

The original warheads for the RPG-2 were basically a straight copy of the latewar German Panzerfaust-150 warhead, ergo actually quite good and economical for WW2 and 1950s standards, but armor kept getting better and there were better ways to do shaped charges and rockets, hence why the RPG-7 was eventually developed.
>>

I might be confusing the Panzerfaust part for the initial RPG-1 development (which was cancelled because it had problems, and the RPG-2 just did everything much better), but either it was fairly closely derived from the Panzerfaust-150's warhead.

Essentially, the Russians in 1944 thought that was a really good warhead, but they wanted that with a reusable and reloadable launcher, like a Bazooka, instead of single use disposables.
(The numbers here is outright their range in meters, which means you had to have the biggest balls in the world to actually use the first models on an enemy tank).

>>64799824
Yes, I wasn't looking closely enough. Apparently RPG-2s are either still made, or were still made until surprisingly recently
>>
>>64799824
>>64799827
I'm thinking RPG-2 as well but the warhead looks kind of long, more like an RPG-7 warhead. Could be craft made, I hear they do that in SEA.
But it could be a type 69. They lack the little stock thingy regular RPG-7s have.
Still, it's looking pretty skinny CJ and I can't see a carry handle.
Outlook unclear.
Is there a difference in backblast between the two
>>

Hitler Youth did it well in the rubble of German cities, if infantry weren't hugging along right behind the tank you could even get away to do it again.

Not the Mayors first assassination attempt. This retard must have pissed off a shitload of people.

The mayor comes from a political family responsible for the Ambatuan/Maguindanao Massacre. A sordid event as far as sordid events go. My guess they were trying for some payback.

It was not as bad for the later models, which could reach to 90 meters or longer, but with the early ones reaching only 30 meters, you weren't just uncomfortably close to an armored murder machine with a cannon and machinegun, you could definitely be hit by shrapnel and debris from the explosion itself.

The Finns also used Panzerfausts against the Russians in the Winter War.

Its a clone RPG-2, the Moro's use them or as they like to call themselves MILF
>all them dirty brown jungle milfs...
So it could just be a big old bomb in there with no HEAT capabilities, blackpowder, bits of mining plastic explosive or who the fuck knows. The fact it didn't kill the user, actually flew and blew up should probably be taken as a bit of a win
>>
There must be a lot of explosive energy that doesn't contribute to the sharp jet formation of HEAT, so it's surprising that this commercial car survived.

I wonder what data point or trend did Toyota pick up to realize there was demand for armored cars out of the factory
>>
Life is not like the movies, rpg warheads have trouble detonating on car sides because the metal is too thin to trip the fuse, remember these are made to knock out tanks. In most cases the rocket just passes through. Same was seen on that YouTube video where some Australian tourtist went to Cambodia to shoot rpgs. They all pumped several into a car side and the same thing happened. So unless the rocket physically went through the part of the car that the guy was sitting in it was not going to impale him, or if they would use a he RPG rocket which I do t think is available for an older rpg2 which is what they were using

>>64799792

>>
>>64800197
Lots of professions in the Philippines where the probability of you getting shot at by two guys on a motorcycle is high leads to a huge demand.

Lawyer, mayor, professor, government employee. I mean it's no surprise a mass produced armored car is the first thing a politican buys depending on how much funds he scammed.

Filipino here. Oh no we targeted Malaysian lackey Shariff Ampatuan. On the climax of Dinagyang. Celebrating Ilongo Kedatuan of Madja-as' war against the Brunei Sultanate. This is a declaration of war against Maguindanao and Malaysia.

I'm a Christian Ilongo we have a decades long war against Muslims in Mindanao supported by Malaysians we have a militia known as the ILAGA targeting Muslim Maguindanaoans. Our beef with Muslims happened even before Spain; when the the Datus of Kedatuan of Madja-as killed Sultan Makatunao of Borneo. Today Iloilo celebrated Dinagyang commemorating our Christianization and our war against the Brunei Sultanate, the attack against Sharrif Ampatuan coinciding with Dinagayang is like a declaration of war against Maguindanao people and their Malaysian backers.

Malaysians are the assholes of Southeast Asia. Thailand in Pattani near the border of Malaysia has an internal rebellion, Aceh in Indonesia bordering Malysia has the Free Aceh movement also Malaysian backed, and Mindanao secession is also Malaysian backed. And Singapore was also expelled by Malaysians. I don't support violence but the Ilagas who want to assasinate Sharrif Amapatuan with Bazooka on our Dinagyang Feast Day, Is like a big powerful fucking open war declaration.
>>
>>64800349
>>64800370
>>64800379
You're actually both right.
Soviet, and I think probably Chinese RPG-7 warheads, do in fact have an arming distance. However, Iraqi made RPG-7 warheads would NOT have those, and indeed those have caused various accidents.
>>
>>64800421
Confused Filipino-American in North Luzon here. What the fuck when did Malaysia come into this? I thought people were just settling old beef due to that mayors family being a bunch of sociopaths.

So part of Mindanao is at war with Malaysia and this attack is some kind of proxy war? You southerners are fucking crazy, can't you have regular beef without RPG's. I gotta go to Gen Santos next month, I better not get black hawk downed

Holy shit they really wanted that guy. >>
>>64799932
did he died?
>>
Since it only lightly scorched the paint on the vehicle body, was the contents of the warhead black powder as mentioned above?
>>
>>64800442

Shariff Ampatuan the target of the RPG attack, commited the Ampatuan massacre against the Toto Magundadatus' family. The Magundadatus are natives who married a Spanish-Ilonga who had their entire family massacred, this brought the blood fued forwar. The Ampatuan's massacre of the Magundadatus, is merely an echo of the centuries long blood fued between Visayans-Ilongos especially and Maguindanaoans. The blood fued happened before Spain back when the Datus of Madja-as (Datu Puti, Datu Padojinog) we warring against the Sultans of Borneo (Sultan Makatunao), Ampatuan is a Shariff, he is Malay-Islamic Royalty.

The attack on Ampatuan means the Datus are raring a fight.

You see the Malaysians and Ilongos have an opposite caste system.

In Malaysia the Sultan is on top, the Rajah is under him and the Datu is at the bottom.

But in the Phlippines in Precolonial Ilongos, we were faithful to the fleeing Datus and had a caste system wherein the Alipin (Has the Arabic "al" is the slave) and the Maharlika (Has the Sanskrit Maha as in Maharaja) is the soldier class, and the Datu is the top.

This is a declaration of war against the Ummah and against Malaysia from the Visayan Ilongos, and Hispanics since it occured in the Feast Day of Dinagyang (Today) Commemorating our Christianization and our war against Sultan Makatunao. The Magundadatus want revenge.

>>
>>64800468
Ah fascinating. None of these reasons actually made the news here, not surprised.

So it is settling of old beef, the Magundadatus still want revenge over the massacre. Do you see this escalating into open warfare soon?
>>
>>64800505

Still the Ilongo dude here...

Mundo Oscuro the Militia that's allied to us ILAGA Ilongos punishing Malaysia supported Moros descend from Peruvians and Latinos speaking Spanish Creole Chavacano.

There are also former Muslims and mixed Christian-Muslims exiled to Mexico and Nueva Granada (Venezuela and Colombia now) who helped in the independence against Christian Spain, Felipe Salonga related to Bruneian Sultans from former Muslim Manila was exiled to the Americas.
