New russian tank dropped. is it obsolete?

>>65558634>>65558664I think that is just a prototype. The real one should be better welded tough.
>>65558664Absolutely dogshit welding on military vehicles is a proud russian tradition.
>>65558604>>65558612>>65558616>>65558619>>65558664Looks like a one off propaganda peice to show Russia is very strong and the only country with a tank designed in current year.

>>65558672In WW2 is makes sense because they were shitting them out as fast as possible, these days it just shows a lack of automation that can do it both faster and better than a human.
>>65558674>with a tank designed in current yearThat tank, have no cope cage. Any tank designed during russo ukranian war should have a cope cage.
>>65558674More or less on par with the Iranians showing off their new "stealth fighter" made of cardboard, featuring controls and instrumentation cobbled together from decade-old PC parts.

>>65558680>these days it just shows a lack of automationAny decently skilled welder could do a far better job just welding it manually with the shittiest $30 Chinese arc welding machine imaginable. It's not a lack of automation, it's a lack of basic welding skills.
>>65558685>Iranians showing off their new "stealth fighter"Honestly, it still baffles me. Why would iran waste their resource on that? They should focus on developing balistic missile like Kim.
>>65558619Screen space too is too small. Boomers are still in charge of the design. Don't they have Chinese SUVs with xbawks huge screens to copy now?
>>65558692I'm not saying a human can't do better than that, I'm saying if humans are doing the welds you are about 20 years behind in industrialisation.
>>65558697Starship is manually welded.
It's yet another version of T-72 (or worse, T-62/64) with new barrel, new armor package and some fancy imported gizmos just to make it look different from the tanks that already do everything that it does ...isn't it?
>>65558706The still experimental starship, yes.Every rocket in serial production uses CNC stir welding.
>>65558709This one is remote controled.
>>65558716Teletank is back?
>>65558670>The real one
>>65558710Stainless steel can't be friction stir welded in such huge parts. So Starship is laser welded. Rings are welded by robot arms, but when stacked on top of each other robots can't reach there so staked rings are manually laser welded. Though spacex adopted advanced welding systems for that, their handheld welders have automatic wire feed, that reads movement velocity and feeds wire at constant wire to weld length ratio. This simple trick skyrocketed weld quality, and removed pressure to automate welding. Welders with these semi automatic welders achieve consistent excellent results already.
>>65558729Yep, better than ever. This thing should be called drone tank. The bigges ugv ever produced
>>65558709How, exactly? Does it trail behind it a long-ass optic cable or something? How will it counter EW and jamming?
>>65558735>Does it trail behind it a long-ass optic cable or something? It is supposedly wireless with range of up to 4km from its command vehicle.
>>65558697manual welding isn't going anywhere retards. Robots are good for mass serial welding where you teach the machine to complete the same cycle on the same frame over and over again. In small serial and unique projects a human will always be faster then teaching the computer Also with even robots a human who knows manual welding has to observe them. To correct fuck ups like random gushes of air introducing spores to finishing the final ends of the weld to make sure the root is uniform>inb4 AI magic saaar
>>65558740I work construction and know manual welding isn't going anywhere but if I walk into the Ford factory and see manual welding I'm hanging shit on them.
>>655587394km wireless connection in today's battle-space? Where the whole "active killzone" can be 20 km deep?
>>65558749NTA, but give the russian some break. That tank displayed is prolly the first prototype that need to be welded fast before demonstration. Rest assured that the production version should be more polished and created using cnc machine in uralghaz factory.
>>65558753>4km wireless connectionThe prototype version, yes.
>>65558758Why are we assuming that there will be a production version?
>>65558769They won't flaunt it so much otherwise.
>>65558769They need at least a few working examples to scam some orders from India and Algeria
>>65558758>the production version
>assault guns are backkino
>>65558604>is it obsolete? At the very least, it is better than the chellenger 2.
>>65558772>They won't flaunt it so much otherwise.
So we have a tank that is based on T-72 (which are facing extinction anyways), with a new body-kit to make it look cool... that has been turned into remote controlled vehicle. But the remote controlling doesn't happen using something like an optical cable, but rather than wireless connetcion which is easily jammed or interferd with. And even in optimal conditions, the people who operate the tank must be within 4 km range, and thus within mortar-fire range of ...where-ever that tank is. So if you see this on the battlefield, you can either jam it, or you can just start looking for the guy in the bushes nearby who is controlling it ...who is within your artillery range....and who thought this was a good idea?
>>65558796>the guy in the bushes nearbyThe operator will be safely seated inside heavily protected command tank. >4 km rangeFor the prototype version.
>>65558670>just a prototype>>65558758>the production version should be more polishedprototype>>65558802>For the prototype version
>>65558688
>>65558802>For the prototype version.yeah yeah, you said this already. Multiple times. You seem very invested in making sure the whole thread knows that its dogshit performance (couldn't drive unmanned and got stuck in the mud immediately) is totally due to the fact that it's a prototype, and not that it's a piece of junk cobbled together to rake in government money. Why's that?
>>65558834>Why's that?To make sure that /k/ is not surprised when the production version is doing better than the expected (like the T-50/su-57).
>>65558857Nice one, you got some folks.

>>65558706They automated the welding a few years ago.
>>65558619>Video feed has visible and obtrusive imaging artifacts >>65558681The russian tanks in the southern and eastern fronts have had most of their xbox huge barns removed in favor of the more gen 1-like cope cages. >>65559019Because it's a T-72.

>>65558697A good welder is a better welder than a robot, full stop
>>65559411A high bar that takes a lot of time and experience to clear. If what you need is consistency and speed, go with robots. Circumferential welds and long, constant thickness/depth, linear welds are basically the perfect use case for robots.
>>65558604Its called the Shturm, it is a remote controlled T72, with an APC version and tank version. It popped up via mockups a few years ago. Pic rel, with APC.>>65558689Wrong, cut down 125mm for urban ops, I remember the digital designs being shown off, and the first one that popped up in pictures was the APC version, this one has a turret. They can be remote controlled from a relatively far distance.https://united24media.com/war-in-ukraine/russia-debuts-new-shturm-robotic-tank-it-loses-connection-and-gets-stuck-in-the-mud-23085
>>65559411>A good welder is a better welder than a robot, full stopMaybe at non-repetitive, complex welds. A robot will run a perfect and straight bead every time if it is set up right, will probably do it faster too. Humans aren't going to be fully replaced in jobs like this because a dude can contort himself to fit into tight spaces and operate autonomously with few catches.
>>65558617>No cope cage in the drones ageThis is stock from the factory, the cope cages are fitted in the field.
>>65559019>why is the turret that armored lmaoTo make it harder to disable the turret and less likely to detonate the ammunition inside.A turret kill is more or less a mission kill, it has to be armoured.Without a gunner though, there's room for armour on the inside too and you need less void internally, just enough for the ammunition feed/autoloader systems.
>>65558963>Finest APS>A circle of shotguns that cant tilt at all and is unlikely to stop any top down attackKek, ignoring the fact that thats just the drones camera mount. Not that I dont think a circle of shotguns could hypothetically have some use in limiting attack angles.>>65559059Totally real btw. Russians say Ukrainians have hypertech btw.
>>65558604Ah, now we know what they're doing with the 1k or so T-72 hulls that had no working turrets
