hi I'm back!

I made tranners.lol a week ago and now I am creating an unsee-like service.

creating this thread to collect some feedback as I work on it!

general questions:
- anyone have a cool name for it?
- how many pics per album?
- are captchas ok? if not, what else?
- any sites to base the ui off of?

some optional feature ideas:
- let album stay alive until thread dies
- require replies to view albums
- let uploader see visitor countries
- more?
>>
>>35297814
previous thread >>35160132

also here's the site formatted to open this current thread, for what it's worth:
https://tranners.lol/lgbt/thread/35297814
>>
>>35297831
thanks!! totally forgot. I'm also working on a landing page for the site. maybe a tutorial of how to use it.
>>
>>35297864
is there any chance on making it update the status of unsee links once it fetches them? such as in the case of it being set to one view, then "fixed" later?
>>
>>35297814
>- anyone have a cool name for it?
nosee
>- how many pics per album?
12
>- are captchas ok?
I'm fine with them
>- any sites to base the ui off of?
4chan
>- let album stay alive until thread dies
this sounds nice
>- require replies to view albums
this goes against the "rate me" posts
>- let uploader see visitor countries
I don't really like that but I guess if you want to add that fine
overall tranners.lol is a pretty cool site and this unsee clone seems interesting
>>
>>35297872
I think I could have it periodically reevaluate the links. doing so is actually fairly easy, but:
- reevaluating it costs a view against the counter
- most albums seem to expire based on time
- I plan on making an unsee archive fairly soon* which would make this feature a bit moot anyway

* as in, I am nearly done with the new service, aside from some small features, security, and ui
>>
>>35297893
makes sense. thank you. but, about the counter thing, i still don't know if there's any such thing besides unsees being set to one view. i've never uploaded to unsee myself, but i've only ever seen people say "you set it to one view". is it actually an option to arbitrarily limit the views beyond just a single view?
>>
>>35297881
>nosee
nosee is cool! I was wondering how people felt about names based off of unsee, or if I should try to be a completely original product. I was thinking funsee as a pun on funsies! not sure if this sticks though...

>this goes against the "rate me" posts
this is true. I'm just brainstorming here, but how about:
- when you upload, you can request your album receive ratings
- when a visitor views an album that has requested ratings, they are required to reply to your post with a rating
- until they do so, they will not be able to view any other albums that request a rating

this sounds ok in my head, before getting into the technical challenges of it...
>>
>>35297907
hm, it must be more than 1, otherwise the service wouldn't have collected the expiration time, it would have already expired by the time the service grabbed it. I think! unless for some reason the way the service queries unsee bypasses the counter which would be very poor security but not surprising if so!
>>
>>35297921
you lost me, sorry. i just felt the options were "burn after reading" (i used this phrasing last thread, but, again, i don't know if it's actually called that; i just meant when it's set to one view), otherwise the timer is what determines expiry. is it even worth reconciling my lack of understanding on what you mean, if unsee isn't where your priorities are anymore, anyway?
>>
>>35297814
Definitely don't copy the unsee shit that deletes after one view by default, half of posters miss it
>>
>>35297938
let me try to explain better.

when the service finds a link, it immediately visits the link to collect the number of images in that album and find out when the album will expire. this is then cached forever.

if the album only allowed 1 view until it expired, then the service doing this would have made the album expire in the process. but, it doesn't, so that suggests that the album allows more than 1 view. if it only allowed 1 view, then most likely the album would have expired before the service could even collect it.
>>
>>35297948
thanks for sharing! I've been considering how to implement this, mostly out of feature parity, but this is an interesting perspective. if very few people actually appreciate this feature and it is detrimental I am OK not implementing it! I mean, you could still use unsee for this purpose, I think.
>>
>>35297881
>I don't really like that but I guess if you want to add that fine
maybe a different metric here... see how many unique visitors viewed the album? I don't know if unsee offers this capability, just though it would be neat to know.
>>
>>35297966
Personally I wouldn't mind it as an option, but I think it would be best to not use it as default
>>
>>35297914
>I was thinking funsee as a pun on funsies! not sure if this sticks though...
that is sillier
>- when a visitor views an album that has requested ratings, they are required to reply to your post with a rating
>- until they do so, they will not be able to view any other albums that request a rating
But what if they're just curious and not intending to rate or otherwise don't want to rate? Or what if the link expires before they can rate it? Then they would be banned from all rating. I don't really see the reason to revoke the person's ability to view albums with ranks just because they decided not to rank one album.
>>
>>35297956
ooh, i get it, now. thank you. but, i have been the single view for unsees before, and i was able to visit it as many times as i wanted i am pretty sure. i think the "one view" behavior whitelists the first ip to visit it, so they are subject to the set timer, but for any following views, it redirects to the homepage as if it expired. once when i realized i was the "one view", i even saved the direct images on archive.org, back when the direct image link didn't resolve to personally identifying information. that wouldn't have been possible has the album actually expired upon the first view (unless expiring only means the album link redirects to homepage, or something, and the direct images would be taken down sometime later)
>>
>>35297978
>maybe a different metric here... see how many unique visitors viewed the album?
yeah that seems good
> I don't know if unsee offers this capability, just though it would be neat to know.
Well the closest they have is a display for how many people are currently viewing the album.
also here >>35297982 I mean
>that is sillier
as a good thing if you didn't know
>>
>>35297982
>that is sillier
in a bad way? I'm also thinking it's a convenient thing to memorize, just add an 'f' in front!

>But what if they're just curious and not intending to rate or otherwise don't want to rate? Or what if the link expires before they can rate it? Then they would be banned from all rating. I don't really see the reason to revoke the person's ability to view albums with ranks just because they decided not to rank one album.
so if it expired I would ensure that they wouldn't be banned, and this only applies to albums where the author has specifically opted into it. but, I'm not necessarily hard-set on this, and it's not exactly the easiest thing to implement. but I am curious if people who post in rate threads would appreciate it.
>>
>>35297988
>once when i realized i was the "one view", i even saved the direct images on archive.org, back when the direct image link didn't resolve to personally identifying information.
i found the post where i did this:
https://archiveofsins.com/lgbt/thread/28998141/#28999764

you can see in the thread the anon who posted the unsee claimed he purposely set it to one view
>>
>>35297988
thanks for explaining!! I had no idea it worked like a whitelist. that makes a lot of sense. hm, I can also implement this if people care about this feature.
>>

>so if it expired I would ensure that they wouldn't be banned, and this only applies to albums where the author has specifically opted into it.
that is interesting; although I think at most it should be limited to the thread it was posted in
>I'm not necessarily hard-set on this, and it's not exactly the easiest thing to implement.
It seems fairly straightforward (unless it isn't; I don't know for sure I've never done backend web development)
>but I am curious if people who post in rate threads would appreciate it.
Well I haven't really been in those threads much so I don't know.
>>
>>35298080
>>35298080
>see>>35298000
ok, then the real question is which sounds better? funsee.lol or funsee.cc?
>that is interesting; although I think at most it should be limited to the thread it was posted in
yeah, I haven't delved into details of it but that's what I think so as well.
>>
>>35298101
not that anon, but the former sounds way better imo, since "funsee.lol" makes the whole link seem fanciful, as opposed to ".cc" not sounding like much of anything besides "see see" sounding like it has to do with using your eyes, which is related to image hosting
>>
>>35298101
>ok, then the real question is which sounds better?
funsee.lol in my opinion sounds better and it fits the theme of "funsies"
>yeah, I haven't delved into details of it but that's what I think so as well.
Okay then I guess that's alright
>>
>>35298118
I agree. .cc sounds kinda silly to me, never noticed until your post it meant "see see" in this context
>>
>>35298138
>never noticed until your post it meant "see see" in this context
honestly i was just saying words and don't know if that was the intent or not, lol
>>
>>35298005
>but I am curious if people who post in rate threads would appreciate it
I think most people already ignore unsees in passgen because it takes more effort to open, not sure if trying to force anyone who does open it to reply would help
Maybe hornygen posters would appreciate it, but that gen was killed wasn't it?
>>
>>35298162
not her, but her site has been seeing a lot of use in CiPgen (could i pass general) >>35281358
https://tranners.lol/lgbt/thread/35281358

i never see many usees in passgen. like, fewer than three, if that, i think. but i don't really open passgen so idk
>>
hmm, this feature seems more hassle than it's worth. I'll just shelf it for now since it's a little tricky to implement and don't want to increase friction to use my service over another.

also: funsee.lol is green light! I'll be putting a demo on it shortly, once I finish the web ui. functionally the service is implemented already (minus some remaining security features)
>>
>>35298170
I don't see many unsees in passgen, but they almost always get ignored. Probably because there are already a ton of posts to reply to. I guess cipg tends to have fewer posts and posters, but they also seem more likely to reply to unsees anyway

I'm also reminded that there is no mechanism to link the current thread when a new thread is created... let me see if I can do something about that.

Hasn’t happened yet but recently they’ve blocked a lot of trans sites so I think it’s only a matter of time.
>>

whatever you do, please make sure the default setting isn't "delete after 1 view"
I think that's the default on unsee and people post pics like that by accident constantly. It's annoying, make the default like 5-10 minutes.
>>
>>35298365
totally open to the idea of using a new domain as a mirror site... let me know if/when this happens and I will sort something out. for now I'll hold off since buying a domain costs money.

>I'm also reminded that there is no mechanism to link the current thread when a new thread is created... let me see if I can do something about that.
just tried and unfortunately no! the only info I get is when you're on mobile and click an external link and all it receives is sys.4chan.org. not the thread id. oh well!

there's a bunch of work remaining, but I've published a very beta-ish version of the service now

https://funsee.lol/

this should work for jpeg images up to 12mb ea (for now).

there are some limits I've set to prevent abuse, but hoping to receive some feedback! primarily on the functionality, the ui is a little primitive right now since I am focused on ironing out any bugs in the service first.
>>
>>35300159
and just for demonstration purposes I've created an album that won't expire.

https://funsee.lol/albums/568151836207104

I will look into implementing some security features soon. ideally I'm just looking for confirmation here that everything simply works without bugs.
>>
>>35300283
WTF I LITERALLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAVE THIS IMAGE. HOW DID YOU DO THIS?????
>>
>>35300283
i kept fucking with it, and i think i broke it, cause now it stopped loading for me on firefox normally, but it loads for me in private browsing on firefox
>>
>>35302121
nvm i didn't realize i could just right click the broken thumbnail and click "reload image". but i expect right click to be disabled soon enough (though in firefox you can always right click anyway with shift + right click)
>>
>>35302322
you know, i am seeing how i'm breaking it: when i right click > copy image link > paste in a new tab, it breaks the image. so i'm doing it to myself
>>
>>35302334
ok i figured it out. if i just ctrl + s the web page, for some reason that saves the image. this is the only way i have figured out to download the image (besides right clicking it, copying it, pasting it in mspaint, and saving as a .png)

methods that works on unsee, but doesn't work on funsee:
- open in firefox > ctrl + i > "media" tab > direct image link > copy > paste in new tab (automatically saves to your default download location on unsee; on funsee, it breaks the image, even on page refresh, until you right click the broken thumbnail then select "reload image")

huh... i guess that's it. i though right clicking and saving worked on unsee since i thought unsee disabled right clicking, but i just tried it on an unsee still up, and it didn't work >>35300711
https://tranners.lol/lgbt/thread/35300711

however, on unsee my addon "Image Max URL" has a right click option "Try to find larger image (IMU)", where if you expand a thumbnail, shift + right click on the expanded image, then select my addon's right click option, it opens the version of the expanded image you would find in the method i described earlier that you can actually save normally
>>
>>35300283
The image doesn't scale well on mobile, but I'd guess that's because of the simple UI
>>
>>35301994
so I’ve disabled direct links to the image. they just redirect back to the album. I haven’t tried using any client scripts to prevent right clicking. you might be getting rate limited if you see the image fail to load occasionally, which should only happen if you’re doing something other than just viewing
>>
>>35297814
creating the service is super easy for any competent programmer but dealing with the logistical side of it is another story
somebody will upload child porn and if you're lucky the police will realize it's your anonymous upload service and simply subpoena you and cause you to spend a bunch on lawyers but if you're unlucky or they realize you're a troon and want to fuck with you they will send a swat to disappear you
>>
>>35297814
Whatever you do, do not allow Tor. There will be abuse. There's a DNSBL you can use and you can block it via Cloudflare, too.
>>
>>35297814
while everyone's talking about worst case scenarios and stuff, that reminds me that you should probably flag archive.today and archive.org's ips as VPNs like unsee does, so if they try to view an album, it appears blurred to the point of being unrecognizable at the very least
>>
>>35303394
also maybe https://ghostarchive.org/. i didn't even know this archive existed until i opened a basedjak wiki page once, and it provided a link to this archive of an old version of the wiki page that was "uncensored". idk how to find archives
>>
>>35303331
it’s the same concerns that unsee has. also I do have tools available to run against csam database.

>>35303353
thanks for this advice. I will definitely look into it!

>>35303394
I’m definitely wanting to disable crawlers. I don’t know which sites ignore robots.txt but I have manually blocked some services already. E.g. if you use the url in discord I block their proxy service from loading the image. This will probably be a moot thing once I implement captchas to prevent crawlers from collecting images, but I’m still interested in hardblocking as many as I can.

>>
>>35304413
not that anon, but please be careful with your phrasing! i am not a lawyer, so i don't know what can and can't be used against you. but the semantics of language might allow someone to purposely misconstrue what you're saying. obviously to anyone with a brain, by "abuse" you are referring to the very precedent of using your service to host illegal content. but a dishonest person might pretend by "abuse" you only mean either habitual offenders, or people who host a large amount of it, implicitly saying that the precedent is okay as long as it isn't particularly egregious on your bandwidth. stay safe
>>
>>35304529
I would have a field day if a lawyer sued me over this

i guess i was thinking of a movie scene i saw once or something, where a guy was like "i shot him" or something, and he said it in a really incredulous tone, pointing at himself, in obvious disbelief, merely in response to what someone else just said about him. but what was transcribed, of course, was simply the words themselves, so it made him look bad. i guess it's just entertainment, so

this is because your browser attempted to download the image by requesting it again, but the iPhone is saving from memory. it wasn’t actually my intention to make saving harder, just to prevent users from direct linking images.
>>
>>35308582
yeah unsee prevents this
i guess it's not really a big deal it just sorta means the illusion that your image won't be saved permanently onto someone's hard drive is dispelled much more readily
ultimately, it's up to you whether or not you want to support that illusion. i think a lot of unsee's widespread use comes from that illusion, but it is still just an illusion, and arguably dishonest how much effort unsee puts into maintaining it

>>35308874
np, if anything I look at unsee's image protection as a sort of metaphorical rusty old lock on a shed --where it's more of an agreement between two parties that the shed will not be opened rather then an effective measure against the shed being opened (but instead of a shed being opened it's an image being downloaded).
>>
>>35309006
not her, but imo the point isn't disincentivizing saving as much as it is disincentivizing reposting. but i guess making saving more difficult just makes reposting it that much more inconvenient, which deters more people than otherwise, so

seriously considering making my own board archiver. I have so much issues using archived.moe on my phone! just reading a thread and getting redirected to some scam site over and over. can’t even search on mobile because it won’t focus onto the text field. it truly vexes me how crappy these archive sites are and if there were enough interest I’d probably make my own at a loss just so I don’t have to deal with such nonsense.

>>
>>35311319

>>
>>35311566
cloud services can be used to run scrapers. in general this makes it so a scraper needs to be run on someone's personal pc rather than a cloud network. vpns also tend to run here so there might be some collateral there... I'd be open to exploring other solutions if anyone is affected
>>
>>35311615
>cloud services can be used to run scrapers. in general this makes it so a scraper needs to be run on someone's personal pc rather than a cloud network.
oh well I guess if that's a concern of yours then it makes sense. But then again I don't think the tor network is really built for large scale web scraping.
>I'd be open to exploring other solutions if anyone is affected
Maybe load the captcha before the site content? That way if the captcha is failed nothing really big can be scraped. As for tor I remember reading that one of the sites had a timer on the captcha where if you didn't complete it in a certain amount of time it would temporarily block that node further preventing bots from scraping it.
>>
>>35311832
tor is blocked to curb illegal activity, not necessarily for scraping.

captcha can work though I'll wait to see if anyone is actually affected before investing time into this. firewall rule is much quicker and easier otherwise

i never knew the album limit for unsee (still don't), but i just checked hornygen on your site, and it says someone posted an album wit 27 images, which is far and away the most i've seen so far >>35307171
https://tranners.lol/lgbt/thread/35307171

are you trying to support all that?
>>
>>35327091
it's not necessarily out of the question. some improvements I am currently making will remove a hardlimit (outside of size). so - maybe! as long as the total size is within a range
>>
>>35333666
sounds good. i don't know if 4chan ever changed it, cause i rarely try to upload such images, but i vaguely remember 4chan having a resolution limit on any board but "/hr/ - High Resolution", which was always so stupid to me. even setting an avatar and shit on some websites has a resolution limit instead of a filesize limit. i don't know why sites are like this. i would've never thought about the optimal way to do this, so i'm glad you're just going for it unprovoked
>>
>>35333767
hm, this does bring up the question of what good resolution limits would be. early on I thought about at least 100x100, but haven't implemented it, so technically you could upload a 1x1 jpeg
>>
>>35333815
if you standardize the thumbnail size like unsee, it wouldn't matter. or, it could be like my image viewer JPEGView where if you zoom out enough, the window size doesn't get smaller than a certain size unless you reshape it smaller yourself. but that made me think that maybe you can offer different gallery views, of either thumbnails, or expanded images. i don't know if unsee offers this since i never checked. also no pressure to add this feature just cause it crossed my mind
>>
>>35333865
not sure if I care to support thumbnails but that's possible. it means storing two versions of the images though and I'm leaning towards just keeping it at one and letting the browser 'thumbnail' an image using the full data vs keeping/watermarking a redundant copy
>>
>>35333878
you lost me at the browser thumbnailing an image part. but, i understand. i just assumed you needed thumbnails to prevent saving on iphones like the other anon said they could do, cause unsee has thumbnails, so i thought it was necessary
>>
>>35333892
I mean just resizing it smaller in the browser, for some gallery view. but it's still the same underlying data. no, there are lots of ways to make it harder to save, but I'm not focused on that yet since that's more of a UI thing.
>>
>>35333926
ooh, i see, thank you. and, of course. any progress and priority is fair

>>35335619
the catbox support is very cool, especially considering so many people break their catbox links, for some reason, despite it not being wordfiltered (21 hits for "catbox" in the current hornygen, but not a single hit for ".catbox.", from keeping the periods in the link) >>35334943
https://tranners.lol/lgbt/thread/35334943

the scaling makes it easy to miss other media that may be in between each catbox image, but this is a lot more convenient than manually fixing each catbox link. plus them loading all at once when catbox's download speed seems super ass saves me from wasting my life on waiting for them to load in their own tab one by one

big update! loading an album is now a secure operation. the same checks that are used to post on this board are used when uploading and now also when downloading.

this should be transparent to you as a user, except that albums might load marginally slower now as it performs the authentication in the background. but it means that albums effectively cannot be scraped in the same way I am scraping unsee.
>>
I dramatically improved site performance.

this has the unintended quirk that albums can now be viewed after they expire. they're deleted on the server, but your browser still keeps it cached around.

questions:
- is this bad? (I think so)
- this is not much different than leaving the tab open after an album expired. should images dynamically nuke if the tab is open too long?

I don't know the precedent unsee sets here, but those are the issues I am looking at resolving. I have a very short list of last things to scratch off and then I will begin working on the unsee archiver.
>>
>>35300159
I'd suggest allowing multiple selections in the file picker instead of having a bunch of them, it'd make it easier to upload multiple files
>>
>>35297814
Guaranteed anonymity.
>>
>>35351141
unsee for sure redirects to homepage after albums expire. on unsee, you lose access to the images on expiry unless you have the ctrl + i firefox window open that gives you the direct links. but on your site direct links don't work, so i don't think anyone would still have access to the images were you to kick them out. i'm not one who uploads to unsee, so i'm not the target demographic for this question, but i think conventionally it would be seen as bad to not block access after expiry. i mean controlling the viewing window and disincentivizing reposting is the main draw of unsee, no? also i purposely didn't mention making saving difficult being a possible draw cause of the discourse surrounding it earlier, and it being an intermediary step to conceivably reposting. but i think conventionally that must be an appeal to unsee, too
>I have a very short list of last things to scratch off and then I will begin working on the unsee archiver.

your ss shows that the cache is valid for 14 more seconds when you took this. so supposedly after 14 seconds you will get a new version of the page. if you are not seeing this behavior and see it staying stale despite new content being collectable, post a ss when it happens and that might help chase it down. it could be a lot of things that aren't really easy to detect, since browsers don't give off a lot of details why they do what they do.

I don't know if the market is really saturated enough with people using this kinda service, but we'll see! >>
>>35387978
basically >>35387993

a picture is easy to watermark and takes less than a second to generate the text, decode the image, overlay the text, and encode back. a video on the other hand involves decoding every frame and watermarking before encoding back. it’s not to say it can’t be done, but by nature it will be slower and cost more cpu and that will require me to purchase more resources to handle. I’m not against this but not if it’s at a loss. I don’t run any ads currently but hypothetically if I did, I’d need videos to have a more aggressive monetization strategy to offset the costs of serving a unique video to each visitor of an album.

unrelated: I had a fun thought - what if I started offering @tranners.lol email addresses?

not an actual mailbox where I could read your emails, really just pointing to your mail server.

I need to verify the specifics, but I do have this set up on one of my other domains so that I can send and receive emails out of my gmail using a custom domain.

my thoughts would be something like:
<tripname>@<maybeasubdomain>.tranners.lol.

of course this would require you to actually register your trip -> email address beforehand. and probably a few other hurdles I need to figure out. maybe this is not super useful though, I'll wait for some feedback!

idk what "tripname" is supposed to mean. like tripfags? i'm personally just a retard who uses gmail and hotmail, and don't use my email for any reason beyond signing up to sites and notifications for those sites, but, i think there might be an appeal for some people less retarded than me

there is a site like this that has novelty email things for 4chan users:

i remember being there when one got created. i am pretty sure i have noko@horsefucker.org or something. but i wasn't using a password manager at the time, and had no idea how to use it, so in the end i just squatted the name, don't remember the password, and never used it before. i regret squatting the name. but it's not unprecedented for people to give a fuck about this. i don't see any tranny references in the domain list, so anyone who would use one of these could see value in your domain name, yeah

>just to clarify, I wouldn't be running a mailbox. you'd still use gmail/whatever, just you'd have an alternate address you can send/receive from. it's the same mailbox.
you're right, sorry: that is a meaningful distinction that requires less commitment from users. but also i am retarded, as i said, so i wouldn't use it myself. i have seen people drop temporary emails in place of dropping their discord, or something, though. and that anon whose post i linked in the drawthread might use your service instead of linking a discord chat invite had they considered it an option, but also maybe not, since the barrier for entry to have someone email them to then add them on discord is higher than opening a discord chat invite. but also, they might find it worth it since they value their privacy so much. i'm just saying words at this point; i am not the target audience for this, so i can't provide contextual feedback
>>
>>35401338
Prevents DNS spoofing, ensures that your domain is actually goes to the website I intended to go to, on top of HTTPS it just gives visitors/users of your site a bit more safety, mostly for a lot of the "just in case" stuff, but it really doesn't hurt to have it. It can also prevent some email related attacks, but not really relevant to you.
>>
>>35401366
oh that isn't a bad idea, a temporary email service
>>
>>35401374
i think the barrier for entry would be lower for that, yeah. i myself have literally added someone once from their using a temporary email service asking me to email them my discord. i could see people who are afraid of dropping their discord using it, mutually, to add one another, especially with the domain having a cute tranny-coded name
>>
>>35297814
this really doesn't matter that much, but on the catalog view of tranners.lol, apostrophes appear as i assume they're formatted under the hood, like when you copy the link in your URL bar, and the link has a space in it, so the space appears as "%20". such as in >>35399683
https://tranners.lol/lgbt/catalog
>what's the point of transitioning after 15 if you're not a luckshit

also i should've said the following a long time ago, but the catalog really incentivizes me to open any threads with media in them on your site, so others can find them. pretty interesting feature imo
>>
>>35401207
>hrm, this is going to require me to enumerate every type of image and video file extension to really handle properly then... another to do list item unless someone gracious has a list for me to steal
i just googled "mpv default" (mpv is a video player) and found an 8/9 years old github page with filetypes technically listed, if it helps:
https://github.com/rossy/mpv-install
https://github.com/rossy/mpv-install/blob/master/mpv-install.bat

i say "technically listed" because it isn't an actual list; it's just the script, but it's formatted in a readable way. you can't just plug it into anything considering, though
>>
>>35401886
oh yeah, that’s something I noticed. seems the data scraped from 4chan comes html encoded and I need to decode them
>>

>>
>>35408615
this is hard to debug without data. I haven't navigated to the catalog all day, and I just now clicked it and see unvisited urls. so, at least for me, it's working as intended. could you replicate this, maybe in a private session?

idk what you mean by this. open a tab of it in incognito, and watch if it still doesn't update?
>>
>>35411706
yeah, essentially that.

how do you verify it doesn't update? do you reload the page and it's the same, or do you navigate to it from another page and it is the same? or do you type the url directly and see no updates?
>>
>>35411815
it updates if i refresh the page, just as before. the tab on the left is in my main viewing window, which i opened when the thread had three media; the window on the right was a page i just opened for the screenshot

if i reload the page, it updates, which is how the window on the right has new media. when i did your F12 request from earlier, it refreshes the page, which fetches new media. but im not getting what i thought was expected behavior of keeping the tab open, and it updating with new media without my manually refreshing the entire page
>>
>>35412024

you expected it to update without refresh?

cheers. but, is the video filetype "list" onthe github page >>35403919 no good? again, it is not a "list" as much as it is just a script formatted with readability in mind. so it would be annoying to isolate the filetypes unless you can automate it somehow. but still

>>

Anon, appreciate your work, as always.
>>
>>35523849
so I haven't done anything to support vocaroo, mostly because that anon never really elaborated what they wanted that would differ from vocaroo itself. I assume they meant temporary storage, but I think litterbox works for that already? not to say I am not interested - just no plans until someone can clarify what specifically they want!
>>35523951
thanks! I am glad to hear! I hope when the UI work is done it'll look a little friendlier to use. and I intend on making the unsee archiver a bit later just to really drive the point home (to use a more secure service)

>>
>>35524661
oh I see what you mean, so kind of leaning on the idea behind the image sharing service's proposed feature that x files last as long as the thread, but now allowing you to upload audio files (and without the horrible ratelimiting)? yeah, that is totally doable and I see the use case now!
>>
>>35524687
meant grab them direct from vocaroo but if the images are going thru you too then whatever works i guess :p
>>
>>35524704
oh you mean like, mirror the files? I don't think that would be easy or worth it. I did add a refresh button to counter the rate limiting problem. maybe I can figure out their limits and incorporate that as well.
>>
>>35297814
if you're never going to add updating unsee links to reflect changes to the album (image count, expiry date, idk what else), do you think you can add the timestamp of each 4chan post, auto converted to local time for each viewer, like 4chan displays timestamps? if i know an unsee isn't six hours old yet, i wouldn't mind clicking it even if your site says it's expired, just in case it was accidentally set to one view, but later fixed. as it is, every single expired unsee may as well be clicked on if i want to be sure in that way, since i can't tell when it was posted
>>
>>35297814
do you think you can label litterbox links differently from catbox links? i can't tell from your site's thread view whether it's a file extension not being supported issue, or it's an expired litterbox link, unless i click the "[show]" button (in this case it was just an expired litterbox link)
>>
>>35297814
maybe you should add a list of the supported sites for tranners.lol on the site itself somehow, since otherwise people wouldn't recognize its current utility
>>
could you add a group voice chat feature with an inbuilt chipmunk filter so we all sound like chipmunks?
>>
>>35529063
I think I understand, you want timestamps on the post rather than the expiry time of the content? this probably requires a bit of revamping how I present information... if you can describe it in detail I'm open!
>>35531572
oh that's unfortunate, yes I can make a change, and maybe not default to img when the filetype is unknown to boot.
>>35535370
hm, so far it's catbox/litterbox/vocaroo/unsee... but I see what you mean. I will work on documenting this better.
>>35536831
hmm, most of the site work I'm doing is all rapid processing stuff. anything that requires an open connection for long periods of time is not necessarily out of the question but does require me to start renting a dedicated server to handle such traffic. it's a maybe, but no plans for now!
>>
>>35537331
>I think I understand, you want timestamps on the post rather than the expiry time of the content? this probably requires a bit of revamping how I present information... if you can describe it in detail I'm open!
i didn't mean "rather than", as if to say removing the expiry time of unsee albums would be of any benefit, but yes. but actually, when i hover over the timestamps on 4chan, it tells me how long ago the post was, just like on the catalog (for example, hovering over your post's timestamp for me right now says "3 hours and 19 minutes ago". that is what i want to see, so i know that if the post was submitted more than six hours ago that the unsee has zero chance of still being online, since unsee timers only last six hours at most

unfortunately, i see what you mean in that doing so would require revamping the format of the site, since really the entire format of each instance of media your site fetches and displays is completely different from 4chan. plus, having both a timestamp of when the post was made and an expiry timer for albums might make it less immediately intuitive that the expiry timer is the main thing people should be concerned with. so maybe it's not so great of an idea, after all, especially if you were to display the timestamp of the post in the same HH:MM:SS stopwatch format, but counting upwards

if you were to bother adding this at all, maybe since i'm only requesting this to ensure i don't click unsees older than six hours, you could format timestamps posted within the past six hours as "5 hours and 59 minutes ago" or under, but anything older than that could use a non-relative timestamp format, like for example, 4chan displays your post as "04/25/24(Thu)22:22:59" for me, or the archives (archiveofsins.com, archived.moe) use "Thu 25 Apr 2024 22:22:59". anything would be fine. in the end, i don't know if this would be worth the trouble, but just throwing it out there

>>
>>35539425
good feedback, I think as more things get tacked on I need to revamp the format anyway. it's kinda weird when someone posts a bunch of links and it makes N 'posts' on the site rather than 1.

>>35546958
sorry anon! I have nothing to dilate!

>>35546986
how do you know unsee isn't?

but I have considered this concern. I thought of a solution, that you can use a random password to encrypt your photos before uploading it to the service, and if someone views your album they need that password to decrypt the photo.

the problem is that I can't watermark it then, since it's no longer an image format. at that point I'm just serving a raw file of indeterminable type. so I'm still trying to work out what that would look like and if anyone would be willing to use it knowing they cannot watermark it.
