new bread!
>what is INTERGEN?
INTERGEN is a general for intersex people to talk to each other about their experiences or just to hang out

>what is an intersex person?
Intersex people are those born with any of several sex characteristics, including chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies

>am I intersex?
We are not doctors, please seek medical advice, but dont be afraid to ask questions here to maybe understand things better

>are trans people intersex?
Trans people are not inherently intersex, however an intersex person can transition if they want

>how is this /lgbt/?
We share similar experiences of discrimination and social prejudice based on sex and gender norms, even though intersex is a variation of sex characteristics, not a gender identity or sexual orientation itself

>What’s on the menu anons? Do you have any dietary restrictions? How’s your tummy feeling?
My tummy health is “okay”, I can’t really process red meat (I get sick and then I feel like dirt) so I stick mostly to rice, veggies, and seafood or chicken. I started also taking a daily enzyme and probiotic to help with digestion it’s been working decently well

Picrel was late dinner last night rice with leftover shrimp, a clam or two, brown sauce, kewpie mayo, yum yum, avacado and furikake I also had some extra seaweed on the side

Fair enough. Bad example.
OK so somehow my primary care's office kept bumping up the height on my chart. My growth plates fused decades ago so I'm definitely not getting any taller. At one point they actually measured me and were close to reality, but eventually they had me 5.5 inches taller than life.
So my doctor's reviewing my weight with me and he starts to lecture me. I'm bracing for him to tell me I need to lose weight (I hover around 25 BMI give or take depending on the phase of the moon or w/e) but he started to tell me I was *underweight.* I look at his screen where he's showing me the numbers and he has my BMI just under 20 and it dawns on me what happened. And I understand the confusion on the numbers but my height is unmistakably NOT what they recorded and I don't look starved.
To be fair I probably don't look my actual weight either after a few years of lifting but my fancy multi-segment bioimpedance scale guesstimates I'm about 23% body fat. I feel like that's fine?
Also a BMI of 20 still isn't underweight?

Anyway I never expected a medical professional to tell me I need to eat more.
I've got actually bad stories but they're venturing into trauma dumping territory and I like the happy yummy mood in here rn.

>>41625082
It's early so caffeine. Caffeine is on the menu. I don't really eat breakfast usually.
My system doesn't outright reject anything but my mission in life is to delay or prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. I'm living on borrowed time--my fasting numbers were not great 5 years ago. But by some miracle / actually caring about my health for once WE ARE SO BACK!

Not actually sure what I'm in the mood for for later. Chat what should I eat?
>>
>>41625595
My suggestion for food French toast, strawberries, and a poached egg or you could have my breakfast of rice, honey, hot sauce, an egg yoke and mixed fruit on the side

>>
>>41628039
Oooh I see.
Side note but I wonder if I still have any of the infinite pile of Minnesota Vikings things my family bought me after I decided they were my favorite pro team so my brother would quit asking.

My personal interest in football is limited to eating food and watching the superbowl with a bunch of lesbians. Though this year (which I actually thought was last year because I forgot the game was in February) we ended up watching Pulp Fiction instead of watching KC get absolutely destroyed.
>>
>>41628262
Pulp fiction is waaaay more fun imo I think I’ve worked every Super Bowl since i moved out like 16-17 years ago lol
>>
>>41628363

I don't mind the game desu. I'm just not really invested in the outcome. I was rooting for KC only because I knew my brother would be.

You could probably keep me occupied until the heat death of the universe showing me movies everyone else has seen except for me.

Calling people freaks is pretty gross behavior :( what’s wrong with just being yourself?
>>
>>41634614
no, but some of us do have a gay voice.
>>
>>41634614
Googling it to try to break down the components, gay voice sounds more like a change in how you operate your voice than something physical:

Higher pitch variation
Longer vowel and 's' sounds
Greater degree of enunciation
The heavy use of gay subculture terms

To some extent it could be thought of as habitual feminization but I think gay voice is a distinct phenomenon. This is separate from the effects of testosterone on the vocal tract, which include:

Lowering of resonances from the expansion of resonant spaces in the vocal tract
Lowering of pitch and a change in character caused by the thickening of the vocal cords

You can hear these changes in women with a habitually feminine voice by listening to current or former anabolic steroid users.

Habituation can also to some extent overcome these changes or their absence--this is the basis of trans voice training--but they are induced by a physical process.

Is there a stereotyped gay timbre as well?

Don't really go on 4chan much these days because I'm a phone poster and they ruined phone posting
But I like threads where I can talk about being intersex
Did any of yall eventually get a normal relationship with gender? Because I feel like it's been a long time and I'm still fucked up about it. I kind of internalized the sense of being Some Third Thing and everyone just socialized based in gender so it mostly makes me lonely. I try to just hang out with coed friend groups and eject when things slant too hard one way (which they usually end up doing). My parents called me a boy growing up but the people in school called me a girl. Now I call myself a girl and I only like it marginally more than calling myself a boy. I don't like calling myself neither because it feels lonely but it's how I feel
>>
>>41655764

As an individual with an intersex condition my experiences have been being born with a numpty dick and having my existence used to justify cutting the tits off little girls. Pleased to meet ya!
>>
>>41656570
I think loneliness is an under stated symptom of being different. Like iktf in that at home it’s everything male to solidify what my parents and therapist wanted, socially around peers I was called everything from a he-she, it, and general homophobic slurs regularly, and now more than a decade after that I’m finally comfortable with who and what I am and how I identify myself.
I think it’s fine if you do or don’t identify as one or the other, at the end of the day it’s what matters to you. I’m happier as I am now and more comfortable in this skin than I was six years ago, you should be able to have that same feeling no matter how you identify or what conditions your body has. I don’t know if it helps but I hope you’re less lonely soon anon

Anybody else have problems with their nervous system? Like I have weird issues with pain sporadically occurring not in my joints but all throughout my body or like spasms

>>41673445
I have an RA like flare up thing that will happen seemingly at random every few months. No reason has been found to date, its not RA. It involves onset pain and stiffness. There is some minor red inflammation especially with larger joints. Onset is wildly fast, like 12 hours from when I first notice symptoms. It hangs around 2-3 days, sometimes it hurts enough I cry. and then its just gone by the 4th or 5th day.

>>41677025
I have a friend who found out he was having seizures in his sleep after he'd wake up sore having wet the bed.
>>
>>41677530
Yeah, it’s why I tend to just be “preemptive” with sanitary products not just because of physical issues but … yeah.
>>
>>41678241
If it makes you feel any better:

I wet the bed basically my entire life. Common issue in my family but I was the only one who never grew out of it. No one ever tried to get me help. My parents sent me off to college like that. Absolute champions at pretending problems don't real.
I remember reading anyone who carried that into adulthood had a maybe 1% chance of ever solving it, so I never tried to get help either. Plus I was too embarrassed so I just accepted that this was my fate.
No idea why but hormone therapy seems to have cured me. It wasn't overnight. It was a very gradual thing. Like who would've ever guessed that would've been the answer?

Have you talked to a neurologist about what's going on in your sleep?
>>
>>41678344
Yeah, about the seizures or the night terrors? Night terrors I worked on with a trauma therapist, and like it’s definitely some bad things in the past, likely from SA that may have directed things in that matter, but that’s an ongoing issue. As for seizures, they didn’t want me to take medication unless they were more frequent but to make sure I take things like sodium tablets to make sure my bp doesn’t fall too far since that seemed to be the correlation but it could have just been a symptom post seizure that they were relying on. I feel like my body works against me
>>
>>41678439
Mostly I ask to make sure you're sure they are night terrors and not seizures. I won't hound you about it but I read what you wrote and I worried about you a little.
>>

Short of it, I worked at a gas station over night when I dropped out of college for extra money, I would always get the college crowd, one night a person I worked at my other job (restaurant) came in there super drunk to use the bathroom, w/e. Anyway he slips out of the store super quick only for me to see a river of feces gushing out of the little hallway where the bathroom was. I’m the only person there working it’s like 2 am and there’s a fecal river, I’m freaking out, like I’m 22 people are stealing shit there’s a literal poop river broken shards of toilet everywhere I wind up having to clean this up. Worst night ever, in my franticness I kick everybody out, cleaning everything using like a gallon or two of bleach, but I wind up cutting myself by accident picking up the porcelain shards, I cry in the office until like 5am and when the next person comes in, super upset and distraught the old man who operated the gas pumps comes in blames me and calls me a fag. I just stood there in shock, no words, clock out and leave. I stopped showing up after that day

Bump I don’t have my eyes on yet

Fun fact! Glasses make my vision worse. My optometrist wants to train me into them because while I haven't lost near accommodation yet I'm old enough that I'm living on borrowed time.
>>
>>41686638
If you have the money and insurance, go for it, it’s expensive but that’s about the one downside
>>41687866
I kinda miss wearing them, i don’t have peripheral vision after an accident it’s just kinda blackish (like vague horse blinders ) and the best solution i found was contacts. I had to look up optical accommodation, I thought having things be blurry then come into view is normal
>>
>>41687980
So one of the features of aging is it gets harder to focus on things close to you because your eye lenses become less flexible. That's why a lot of older people get reading glasses, bifocals, trifocals, or they just crank up the font size on their phones and complain they can't read my tiny ass handwriting in school.
Sorry about the accident :(
>>
>>41688646
It’s a lesson of making sure safety equipment is in proper condition, especially goggles when you’re sand blasting or welding lol
>>
>>41686638
>no reason to investigate further because of transition
Yeah I got a response kinda like that when I approached a doctor about scarring and it's a core memory now. I was in such a weird place and kind of phasing in and out of denial about it and then to get a reply that's somehow worse than useless. It's crazy-making.

Real I remember being in high school and people were confused about my gender identity which confused me even more

Glad that didn't turn out worse!

Yeah although it was a fun course and an interesting internship/apprenticeship I never want to do bronze sculpture work again. I wasn’t strong enough to lift it or do anything aside from cleaning the pieces

Yeah that's fair.
I feel like I have way fewer neat life adventures than you do.

My own mother was verbally confused about my gender identity. Talk about a unique mindfuck!

Been cleaning my house today. I am le tired.

What's everyone else up to today/tonight?

Im going to be real. I had to look up what 5ard is, I guess your face is a little masculine, it’s an odd angle to judge from since the focal point is at your neck and bottom jaw with your head titled up. I would have guessed Greek or Croatian otherwise
>>41698746

no

>>41705224
But my brain is biologically female/intersex due to low prenatal testosterone exposure. I have no male spatial and math skills and I have female emotions and interests. I know it’s bc of prenatal factors because my index finger is longer than my ring finger.

that means nothing

that's more than just your brain then

I rushed through Berserk when if I first read it. There might be a few more chapters than there were. Still never found anything like it in over a decade.

I’m liking it for a lot of the same reasons I really fell in love with the various universal century mobile suit gundam mangas, complex characters with terrible lives and choices decided what’s right to do and sometimes what’s absolutely the wrong thing. I get this primarily in my neck and will barely be able to turn it sometimes + it hurts. I will also get swollen lymph nodes in my neck and have gotten a rash across my neck before at the same time as the lymph node swelling. Was supposed to be tested for RA last time I asked about it, only to discover I'd already been tested negative for RA after I left the doctor. Doctor couldn't figure out reasons for the rash or lymph nodes either. I keep having mysterious symptoms/issues that no one really knows the reason behind. There is also inflammation markers on my bloodwork, but no one knows why that is either.

I'm not on any HRT either and never have been afaik.
>>
>>41675953
I get intense pain specifically on the right side of my head as well. There's also a specific spot on the top of the side side of my head that it seems to focus on, as well as behind my eye.

I had a head CT and they said no tumors.

Same as what i said here: >>41710373
no one seems to understand why I have all these issues, even when there are observable physical symptoms instead of just my reports of pain/etc.
>>
>>41686638
>my estradiol is usually 30-60
>my testosterone is usually 150-200
>my DHEA is usually 550-560
>my progesterone is nearly nonexistent, 0.1-0.2
>afab but never began having periods
>significant hirsutism began at puberty
>no childhood records or baby photos

i didn't have access to regular medical stuff/insurance until i was in my 30s.
finally got testing and i have half a uterus shoved off to one side of my pelvis with only one fallopian tube mixed alongside some wolffian stuff remaining (seminal vesicles, etc.) and ovotestis, including one that is up in my abdomen instead of my pelvis (on the side without mullerian structures/no fallopian tube).

also got handwaved as PCOS at first until they realized the total androgen levels were too high to be explained by PCOS. they had to check me up and down for testosterone secreting tumors, adrenal issues, etc. because they could not figure out where the testosterone was coming from and kept saying it was too high for PCOS/an ovarian source alone.
>>
>>41710383
I think there’s a serious issue in the medical system when it comes to reporting these types of pains, what genuinely bothers me is when I report having these issues they assume I’m after painkillers, no I literally want to know why so it can be treated not just numbed
>>
>>41710444
I think some of my issues may improve with HRT, but I avoided taking HRT because it would complicate physical symptoms and hormone levels for doctors. I'm still not done with the medical bullshit. It's very slow and referrals to specialists and stuff are also very slow.
>>
>>41709600
I mean I can't promise you're not wrong about one or more of those things about me.
>>41710562
Obviously it's hard to predict how any given person will react especially given your circumstances but it's wild how different my post-HRT life is.
Sorry medical stuff is delaying you :(

Shhhhh they’ll burn us like they do Harry Potter books; I’m not looking for another inquisition
>>41710562
Like I would say that it’s worth it to try, however I wouldn’t say that it made my chronic issues worse or better, if anything it made me more aware and want to treat myself better and try to be more preemptive towards when I get flair ups
>>
>>41712474
>Shhhhh they’ll burn us like they do Harry Potter books

That's been a huge thing for me too. I'm not perfect by any means but I started making an effort to take care of myself.

>>
>>41710562
The frequency of these RA like events diminished pretty substantially after I started HRT. But I also made a lot of changes over those first months from getting rid of processed foods and sugars, working out more, and trying to pace myself better instead of just being stubborn.

My bone density also increased over the first year, which elevated me out of osteopenia and into a normal range. Again hard to tell if its the HRT, the eating better, or the working out.
Probably some combination of the three.

oh, that's fascinating. I didn't know there was a cap. I only had a few E tests, but it was similarly only ever 26-30 ng/dl. my T and dhea were just a little bit lower than yours.
I know I have a tiny uterus. supposedly I have ovaries or things that look like ovaries (I don't have the records anymore so I'm working off of what kid-me remembers the doctor said), but they couldn't be seen at all on my last scan.
I don't think I've had any of those other checks. I need to go pester my pediatrician's office at christmas for my records.

What would you call it?
>>41719532
It's true! Tasty apples for everyone!
>>
>>41719845
Same anon.
My "ovaries" were also huge. They did a pelvic MRI and in addition to one being found above my pelvis and detached from the single-fallopian-tube-having lopsided uterus, when the radiologist measured them and calculated the volume with the normal ovarian formulas, the volume of mine were 26 and 27 ML.
Normal ovarian volume is 3-6ml.
Normal testicular volume is 15-25ml.
Basically, they are huge, and there is no missing them on my scans.

Yeah yesterday I did a bunch of shopping. Gonna try to eat like a normal person or something. Wish me luck?
