The sheer psychological torture that is troonjaks and general anti tranny Chan culture unironically made me repress from like 20 or 21 to 26, with some faltering 1-2 week transition and then detransition moments of "weakness".It is what it is. I wish people more openly countered YWNBAW posting and troonjaks though because I know repressors are watching every time (i know i was at least), and are inspired to doomer and not transition because of the overwhelmingness of it all. It's literal psychological warfare against trans people and it works and it's sad.I've never really seen anyone talk about this or deconstruct it's impact on trans people but I must certainly not be the only one affected. The only thing that snapped me out of it was completely cutting off the internet for like a year and a half and exclusively being in queer social circles. I've always been openly gay but unironically after learning what trans people were, the only thing holding me back was this dumb fucking internet subculture.I have like a social circle who accept me and shit now and it's just like the sheer relief you feel at being yourself immediately washes away all doubts and worries you ever had when obsessing over what, in hindsight, were just dumb internet cartoons and seething weird basement dweller losers who you will never interact with irl.Kinda sad over lost time. I knew I guess but just catastrophized a million reasons why other queer people wouldn't like me being trans, until I realized nobody gives a fuck.It's really easy to let the internet warp your perception of real life I guess

desu troonjaks made me sad at first because I thought "nooooo is this what people think i look like???" but after seeing them spammed so often by 13 year olds I kind of learned to just ignore it because it's so fucking childish. Seriously, all it is just saying "oh yeah well uh you're UGLY". Probably helps I already trooned out when troonjaks were a thing.

And as awful as 4chan-style transphobic memes are, they’re not ultimately that different in terms of message from all the overt transphobia you can find in mainstream media. Ten years ago I saw threads here about how trashy talk shows like Jerry Springer made them feel ashamed of being transgender.
