Linux is male brained
>>
>>44317048
no it's autist brained
>>
>>44317048
But most of the people in the archlinux discord have she/her as pronouns. It's pretty fembrained I would say.

Now that linus came out as pro AI chad, all the troons are out to boycott Linux.

/lgbt/ is full of AI shit. Have you seen those boymoder generals? Where transbians are larping as puppy boymoder? Everything is AI generated, I don't think they hate AI.

he did. he said linux is not a "social justice" thing, specifically targeting the anti-AI left, and allowed vibe coded trash in the kernel.

the idea is if you were fembrained you would not care, you would not care if you own something or not because you dont even understand why not legally owning something is bad, if you had to rent compute and hand over your ID to use a computer, you would do it because someone who is fembrained doesnt care either way, a "real woman" only thinks about boys and makeup and uses the internet exclusively for scrolling instagram, they would hand over their ID to scroll instagram because... well like, um, why wouldnt i? i have nothing to hide, and the government says its to protect kids?

It's less about loving linux and more about hating silicon valley and microsoft specifically. Lets face facts about silicon valley versus trans women:
1. Persistent identity means questioning you gender on anywhere other than 4chan can lead to very serious IRL consequences.
2. Social media has been the primary vector for transphobic politics.
3. Dating apps are literally mental illness machines that are fanning the flames of a gender war that is going to end the human race
4. Enshittification accross the board
5. Subscription model bullshit prices economically marginalized trannies out of much of the tech we one had in abundance

Nuke san francisco and like 60% of our problems disappear.

>>44317440
Fundamentally disagree. Ai is the one thing the techbros have managed to get right.
It's enable access to mental health services for tens of millions of men who otherwise wouldn't get anything.
It's enabling low skill people to move into highly technical fields, case in point, linux becomes accessible when the Ai is there to teach you how.
It's an absolute godsend for people with ADHD.

And as for the "evironment" thing, (setting aside the absolute fucking retardation of modern left wing politics that can't tell the difference between carbon emissions, climate change, and the environment as a whole, and yet insist on pronouncing their fucking nonsense like it's divine writ), that was always enevitable. Look up the Kardishev scale. It's not about Ai, Ai is just one aspect of it, humanity's demand for computing power was always going to increase as we push the frontiers of knowledge further and further, until eventually the maximum electricity generation potential of the planet is reached with the vast majority of it being used to compute.

That's why I don't bother to point out all the retardation in what you think climate change is any more, all I had to do was wait you out and we'd burn all the coal anyway. Enjoy your fucking windmills you faggot.
>>
>>44317440

Quite the contrary, I work way more time effective and can focus on touching grass more. You should try the same.

Are you unemployed?
Your reply reads like you are.
You probably think thats a good thing because of the climate, or whatever.
At the end of the day, you'll sit there, struggling to pay for your food.

>>44317444
>what does this even mean
He, the generic male, thinks his ownership is of significance.
Its a massive cope, he is greedy about money but not about time.
He wastes days of work recompiling the kernel 500 times to get something working that would have worked with a mac out of the box. He then goes on /g/ to tell his fellow techfriends about his endeavour, its mental masturbation about wasting time really, functioning adults do not care about this shit.
>>
>>44317476
the right people arent using it though. ai's primary use is pumping out dopamine addiction slop, creating a generation of kids who dont have the ability to think for themselves, bombing people in the middle east, and mass tracking and surveillance of undesirables. jeets regularly get repos shut down by flooding them with AI PRs to artificially pump up their portfolio. actually useful applications like in science are few and far between. ai is also completely wrecking the environment and fast tracking the ecological disaster we were already headed towards, though i know caring about global warming is "cringe" now

Commercial LLMs don't learn from interacting with the public, they've already done their learning.
The learned early on that if you let the Ai's learn from the internet in real time, 4chan is going to be the ones doing the teaching.
Look up Tai Ai, that shit was hitlarious.

In the meantime, holy shit the Ai has done miracles for my mental health. If I had have actually paid a therapist by the hour for what I achieved with an Ai therapist it would have cost tens of thousands of dollars.

It's not perfect by a long shot, you've got to be proactive in prompting it to give you the kind of therapy you need, it doesn't explore mental health possibilities on its own. So you need a human there to give you the language to speak to it so that it can give you the answers you need.

But fuck me is it better than not having it.

It's been around for two whole years and you're going to blame the failure of the American education system on it?

You basically are an Ai to me, you just put random themes together, smush them all up, fuck logic entirely, and then correct the grammar after the fact.

And it's no fucking wonder that it's people like you who are most upset about Ai, and it's got nothing to do with global warming, it's about Ai demonstrating that your supposed "creativity" is 100% automatable. Not because creativity itself is autmatable, but because you are the most trite, basic, dull people to ever touch a fucking keyboard.

You want to talk about educated idiots, your fucking degree isn't worth the paper it was printed on and it makes mine worthless by association.

i don't. i hate basically all the fundamental design norms of unix and unix-likes, and i hate that it's one of those instances where portability trumps functionality or elegance. like a (biological) virus.

but i am insecure about this, because i look like the kind of tranny who'd like linux, i sound like the kind of tranny who'd like linux, and i grew up thinking i liked the computer and was good with it. i'm not actually. webdev at best. (though CSS can do one.)

>>44317495
linux is a silicon valley supported product because it allows SV firms to commoditise their compliment.
(e.g. microsoft or oracle can't price-gouge windows on server software if google subsidises linux development. since linux is FOSS, google creates a desert of profitability in the operating system arena, allowing them to focus on selling web services. microsoft did the same to IBM by helping PC clone manufacturers, turning PCs into a competitive market and ensuring IBM couldn't squeeze Microsoft on OS sales, and so on.)

because linux is a de-facto standard and MS developers are lazy and lack confidence in their own product (and are moving over to vibe-coding, which loves to follow these sorts of standards), WSL is going to metastasise until you're running windows under linux rather than linux under windows.

the human brain behaves like a muscle, it stays exactly as strong as it needs to be to comfortably do whatever tasks it regularly encounters, if certain types of intelligence become obsolete, others will become more important. Although personally I think we're not yet at this point
AI is a great tutor btw. I really wish I had it back when I was university to help me understand stuff instead of waiting 2 weeks for my shitty professor to respond to my emails with a one liner.

>bombing people in the middle east, and mass tracking...
similar things can be said about all technology. IDK how you feel about Ukraine but one of the reasons why it's surviving despite having huge manpower shortages is due to drones and armoured vehicles with onboard AI that can't be jammed.

>jeets regularly get repos shut down by flooding them with AI PRs...
The rules of the Bible are not longer relevant to modern society, likewise the rules of old open source development will no longer be relevant in the 20s and 30s. We can adjust, we are smart adaptable humans afterall.

>actually useful applications like in science are few and far between.

>They go on to discuss what is good or bad in writing. Socrates tells a brief legend, critically commenting on the gift of writing from the Egyptian god Theuth to King Thamus, who was to disperse Theuth's gifts to the people of Egypt. After Theuth remarks on his discovery of writing as a remedy for the memory, Thamus responds that its true effects are likely to be the opposite; it is a remedy for reminding, not remembering, he says, with the appearance but not the reality of wisdom. Future generations will hear much without being properly taught, and will appear wise but not be so, making them difficult to get along with.

I love AI and I'm a tranny, I genuinely believe we're in the early days of the singularity and by 2040 LATEST we're going to live in a completely unimaginable world

I literally woke up today, thought about the HuggingFace hack and the Jacobian conjecture refutation, and felt so happy that I didn't kill myself back in 2024 (horrible year for me), the goal of humanity ever since we left the bit the metaphorical apple of knowledge and left Garden of Eden, has been to change our environment to suit us. AI is a step change towards this end.
>>
>>44317601
>It's been around for two whole years and you're going to blame the failure of the American education system on it?
It has been found that for education, the less technology around the better.
The failure of the American education system is, then, letting the kids use this tech. The solution would be not letting them use AI, just like how they would have paper notebooks and books instead of tablets and how they wouldn't have phones and would only touch a computer during special computer classes
>>
I use AI constantly but I'm ambivalent about it. Good for me. Shit for society. I will probably have more money because of it but I still can't buy all the computer bullshit I want.
>>
>>44318225
>people said that about books
they were wrong
>GUIs and internet too
they were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT and you are a lowly subhumanoid not worthy talking with if you disagree. Again, retard: the less tech around in schools, the better the education.
>AI is a great tutor btw. I really wish I had it back when I was university to help me understand stuff instead of waiting 2 weeks for my shitty professor to respond to my emails with a one liner.
This is true and is a good application of AI. It's cool how it explain things.
But now we have "the machine that can explain things to you" just so happens to also be "the machine that can do your homework for you". One of them requires effort and a genuine desire to learn and understand, the other requires about 3 minutes. Which do you think most people pursue?
>>
>>44318795
>Again, retard: the less tech around in schools, the better the education.
It depends on the child really. I was a failure in the pen and paper world. The teachers failed to reach me. I stopped going to school and spent all my time on IRC, later 4chan. Everything in my life revolves around tech for better or for worse. If there was no internet I would be some virgin ham radio nerd living in his mom's basement.

The problem isn't tech itself. Or the pen and paper way. It's the failure to engage kids on their terms. To see what path they are on in life and help them along. All those hours they spent forcing me to try to learn how to write in cursive until the bones in my fingers ached, what did that achieve? What did I get out of not being allowed to go to recess if I got too many answers wrong on a math test except pain and misery? I didn't need that. It didn't help me. If they just let me dick around on the computer more than all the times I managed to talk them into it I would have learned more skills that actually helped me along. Obviously that doesn't apply to all the kids that were in classes with me.

But think really long and hard about it. How many people with actual talent are simply discarded by these stupid ass one size fits all systems we built and keep rebuilding and arguing over?
>>
>>44318686

>t. adhdtard that has not developed an interest in llms because the corporate fakewarm sycophant text is like nails on a chalkboard on a misophonic's ears and is also distrustful enough to always check for sources on nearly everything

>The problem isn't tech itself
the problem is, very much, the tech itself. It is by nature a net negative in education settings: https://www.upworthy.com/gen-z-technology-schools-ex1-2
>Across 80 countries, if you look at the data, once countries adopt digital technology widely in schools, performance goes down significantly. To the point where kids who use computers about five hours per day in school for learning purposes will score over two-thirds of a standard deviation less than kids who rarely or never touch tech at schoo
>In most cases, the decline in performance doesn’t result in better strategies. The neuroscientist shares that the standardized testing has been adjusted to accommodate lower expectations and shorter attention spans
tablets, phones and laptops have no place whatsoever in schools. Insisting on having them is insisting on failure. The luddites were right, and triumphantly so.
>stopped going to school and spent all my time on IRC, later 4chan
so the technology was a distraction in the way of your own education? Interesting
>It's the failure to engage kids on their terms.
This is, in my view, a deep cope and a self soothing lie that people tell themselves. There is no way to engage kids in this manner, because the overwhelming bulk of kids has no actual interest in learning. It's true that kids are curious, but being curious about why the sky is blue does not translate into having the will and discipline to learn all about physics and chemistry to answer the question.
>How many people with actual talent are simply discarded
A negligible amount not worthy chasing, as truly talented people are intrinsically motivated and make things happen instead of needing to be hand held by schools
>>
I don't proofread my stream of consciousness 4chan posts.

>>44318949
I think you're so blinded by dogmatic adherence to your beliefs that you fail to understand the point I'm trying to make here. I'm happy and successful. I found a path in life that works for me. The good old 90s/early 2000s education did little beyond teaching me to read and write. I had to find the rest of what I needed on my own.

Lately I've thought a lot about how unfair it is that we place the burden of figuring out what they will do with the rest of their lives on children. It wasn't lost on me when I was young that I was fucking up in school. I thought about I had no hopes of going to a good university. I thought about how I'd rather kill myself than be a manager of a Burger King or some shit. My parents weren't much help. My teachers were of even less help. I found my way in life but how many people like me won't? I don't think we can just blame tech or lack thereof for that.
>>
>>44318943
>what if you don't trust what it says or find the way it writtes annoying
just tell it how you want it to interact with you. Just say be objective, no emotions and always link sources.
>>
>>44318795
>they were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT and you are a lowly subhumanoid not worthy talking with if you disagree. Again, retard: the less tech around in schools, the better the education.
in truth, I agree too (if we acknowledge that many things can only sensibly be done with GUIs), but what I will say is that most people are better off using Microsoft Word(/Libre Office) than they are editing LaTeX files with Vim, expecting every human to be an expert in everything is unreasonable.

>But now we have "the machine that can explain things to you" just so happens to also be "the machine that can do your homework for you". One of them requires effort and a genuine desire to learn and understand, the other requires about 3 minutes. Which do you think most people pursue?
I feel nothing but contempt for those who don't wish to understand. If they lobotomise themselves then out of laziness and a lack of a curiosity, then good riddance, if only AI could make them forget how to breathe too.
... but I acknowledge that this is a problem because they still participate in democracy, maybe we really are headed for an AI accelerated idiocracy where being knowledgable will seen the same way as being a kung-fu master or a skilled artisan is nowadays. Really, I don't see democracy surviving the next century, but I don't necessarily think that this is a bad thing.
