I think I've told the story several times but when I was still mostly dependent on my parents, they threatened to bar me from uni and no longer supporting me as parents whenever they wanted to control me. My mother didn't approve of me being in an LDR, so she forced me to cut contact with my gf during the first year we were together and to find "real people to talk to".

At first I didn't feel much because I thought that she was right and I was just a loser for being in LDRs, especially since we met on Roblox as teens.
