Most people in general are set in their ways, unless they are a child they cannot really change their opinions and feeling about things. I need you to really understand this, think about it, this is why so many people believe what they want despite contrary evidence, i'm sure you and i and everyone has experienced this, of course usually from our "enemy" group (us and them mentality which is a tribalistic human instinct, could be anything from politics to sexuality etc). So anyway imagine you are a trans individual, a person experiencing gender dysphoria. You have had this opinion validated thousands of times through media (especially lgbt spaces are very hugboxy and non confrontational), culture and even psychologists. So now this idea of gender dysphoria as a deep seated unchanging concept has been ingrained into your mind, ie as one of those "unchanging opinions". A person like that is now of the mind that it is something you discover about yourself, instead of "contract" or "develop". So when a person like this encounters a person who is confused themselves, for example they may have thoughts about sexuality, dissatisfaction with their bodies, overall depression. Now the person with the ingrained thought will see the other persons struggle through the lense of their own, "because it was like this for me, it must be like this for them", and begin ingraining the idea of gender dysphoria onto the other person subconsciously most often. Do you see what i mean by all this? The core idea is an ingrained thought, and then through seeing others experiences through their own experience, they can spread this onto others unwittingly. Humans cannot easily separate their own experience from those of others. I don't know if it was worth it typing this out even because of the ingrained thought issue. Which is why i don't bother with mind changing
