I came out in IRL trans community in like 2003. I knew a lot of trans people, including those who came out decades before I did. There were, and always have been, plenty of nonbinary people among us, even when they were supposed to be barred from transitioning and got even less respect than now. I also don't know a single nonbinary person who detransitioned or "desisted."

while this is another way that 4chan has niche opinions, I still think it used to be even less common for binary trans people to hate on them. Before we used to recognize that we were all in the same dumpster. Coached each other on how to get through the medical system, etc.
