>No Happy /lit/ chart>No one usually talks about books that bring them real happiness when it's overLet's change that, post Happy Books, and a nice pic>Example Winnie the Pooh (pic above)Long Side Note THIS IS MORE THAN JUST ME NEEDING HAPPY BOOK RECS DUE TO THE STATE IF MY LIFE. ALL OF US DESERVE THE CHANCE TO BRING OURSELVES AND OTHERS HAPPINESS THROUGH COMRADRY, EVEN FOR THE MORONS (ME), ASSHOLES (ALSO ME), THE FAILING OPTIMIST'S, AND THE ANNOYING SMART ASSES (ALSO ALSO ME). WHATEVER BELIEF YOU HAVE ON THE STATE OF THE WORLD. WE CAN ALL AGREE HAPPINESS IS A GOOD THING AND FINDING A WAY TO PRODUCE AND SHARE IT TO OTHERS THAT NEED/DESERVE IT IS GOOD. SO HAPPY POSTING, WHETHER IN THIS THREAD OR OUTSIDE IT

>>23292659Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg. Wagner's only comedy, is about the importance of community, cultural traditions and the beauty of young love. Also happens to be set to some of the most sublime music ever written:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdvw-ljjTI8>At lunch Herr Zumpe relates that the musicians in Leipzig always used the quarrel motive in Die Meistersinger as a signal, and that brings us to this work, “the most optimistic of my works,” says R. “This is the form in which I visualized Germans in their true character, their best light, with a popular poet like Hans Sachs, an enthusiastic youth who, though not a mastersinger, feels poetically, and a respectable pedant. This is their level in life; everything else, elegance, for instance, is affectation; but their feelings are of the highest. Oh, yes, my dearest wife, that’s what I wrote at the time when we were so sad, but you were with me, and we felt that contentment of which Herr Goethe also knew something.”

>>23293388he wrote about a hundred novels. do you have any recommendations?
>>23293834I would recommend starting with one of his 'Wooster and Jeeves' short story collections (Carry On, Jeeves & Very Good, Jeeves). Each story takes about 30 minutes to read, so you can try a few, and if you find they don't suit you, there is little loss.If you like him, there are three main series, which are the Wooster and Jeeves, Psmith, and Blandings Castle. These can be read in sequence or at random. My favorite of the Psmith series is 'Psmith in the City', and my favorite of the Blandings Castle series is 'Uncle Fred in the Springtime'.Any other questions? I am a huge Wodehouse fan and I am always happy to promote his works.
