Never read The Stranger, have no opinion. Kafka has some interesting stories but I personally disliked the Metamorphosis. You don't become "well-read" by reading many books. You become well-read by actually enjoying reading, engaging with what you read and enjoying it. You might as well just read the sparknotes and wikipedia pages for every book if you just want to look like a nerd.
