you ever notice how in most KR game isekai wns the MC has to deal with patience killing plots, serpentine schemers, uncaring or actively malicious parents, etc. and does nothing about them because he is driven by his autistic drive to achieve the “perfect run”?

The more I look into this the more unfeasible it seems. A RR story needs hundreds of chapters and millions of words, but the most I’d even written is 70 chapters before being completely deflated and don’t want to continue.

I wanted to write a simple Isekai story as my first one. MC gets into a new world, goes into dungeons, romances some women. Simple. But it kept getting more complex as I thought of plot and how to hook a reader.

Now I'm thinking of pausing that and writing a VRMMO story instead. The hook is obviously just the VRMMO. Maybe the players are stuck in the game or whatever, but it's simple! Get quests, kill monsters, level up, go into dungeons, level up some more.

Nobody cares so I will blog about ever17 for those unfamiliar: it was a visual novel from Japan around the early 2000s and involves four character routes (where you spend a lot of time with and get to know a specific character) then a final True route/ending. There exists a concept known as a "multi-route mystery" which essentially explains itself where decisions you make lead down different paths, and ever17 involves an accident at an underground water park through the viewpoint of a male student. One of the big twists is that although it appears the four main routes take place during the same time, there is actually a wait for it 17 year difference between half of the four main routes (so two take place during 20xx and the other two take place during 20yy).
Another big twist is that during the final route, your viewpoint is somebody completely new but the most bricks-shitting reveal pertains to the overall main plot in which the characters are repeating the events of the accident in the future in order to summon an nth dimensional entity to observe a different outcome and save everybody. And guess who that entity is? YOU
I don't dabble much in timeloop/restart/etc -lit but I always compare it to these. If you know you know. Even among normal scifi/fant lit I haven't found really anything like it.

I need help brainstorming ideas for Body Cultivation in my setting, i don't want separate it into general levels like "Iron Body" or "Golden Body" and so on because its too impersonal and doesn't allow for the same customization than regular cultivation in my setting does
Im also wary of just restricting it to just a per "Manual" issue, where one Cultivation Manual decides everything for the same reason, i'll still have them, but i feel it breaks the fantasy of having custom-made superpowers to have it all solved by the story

Instead of just organs i decided to make it the full body and divided the individual stages like this:

>Tendons & Ligaments
>Bones & Marrow
>Blood
>Organs
>The Nerve System
I might order it in some other way, im not sure yet
But the gist of it is at every stage the cultivator uses elixirs, pills and other mystical herbs and fruits and trains to infuse their effects in their bodies, after they absorbed everything they can (and their lower dantian is full) try for a breakthrough, if the newest augment doesn't mesh well with the others they will fail, if not, the body undergoes an "Evolution", the body completely assimilates the augment and the rest of the body will also be strengthened to accommodate it

Every augment is basically either a Passive Skill (Like a +20% to Strength permanently) or an Active skill the user trained and adapted his body for (Something like +200% Strength Temporarily)
It can be more than one per stage but it usually has some harsh diminished returns after the first, maybe 2 if the Manual is very advanced, the other skills in the stage also suffers for it
The augments' skills can also combined to form a greater whole (A +10% strength in one part with 10% in another might have a +5% effect on each) or combine more than one to form a skill outside the limit (Something like combining 3 active skills to make an "Ultimate Skill")
Each augment becomes "Fixed" after a breakthrough, they can't be changed, but they can be strengthened again (although, this is optional and not needed for a new breakthrough)

That's what i got so far, i need opinions, i need ideas for active skills besides "The body becomes really hard" and "The user gains a lot of strength temporarily"

I think I am liking the idea of just re-adapting the events of Yellow Typhoon but from Lawrence's perspective for the first chapters of A Game of Cosmic Titans. Originally as it stands right now its just ch7 but from his perspective, so I think it'd lend some agency since the first chapter draft just isn't cutting it. I know I can rework it better but I know now that one will be rewritten and slotted later. At the end of the day I've been doing pretty good progress on the actual chapter wips. Comparing the quality of ScribbleHub and RR is almost day and night.

I guess I approached this all wrong. While Novel Update is all about unique twists in tired tropes, RR is literally just power level autism.
Every story starts with the MC waking up, a few paragraphs of tragic backstory and lore dump to get it out of the way, then it’s all stats and grinding from there.
Hm… if this is the case, I may need to stop thinking in terms of story, plot, and character arc, and just design an RPG campaign for the MC to go through: main quest, side quests, collectibles, romance options, dungeons, mini games, boss rushes, and most importantly, skill trees.
Wonder if I can translate Arkham mechanics into book form somehow.

I think things like smut/ecchi/harem are seem as less desirable or even taboo in fiction in the anglo world (minus India and such), so people form other countries to write it, and they may not be as good in writing in english as it's low brow even for web novels.

Chinese, Japanese, and Korean names don't sound the same. I mean they do within the language (I often can't distinguish characters in translated xianxia from one another) but a chink name doesn't sound like a jap name.

It's not even hard to stay consistent, literally just look up a name list or use a name generator. I've mostly been using greek, latin, and arab names and that alone was enough to give my setting a mediterranean feeling according to readers.

I think it's a good introduction, but it may be because I already know the universe as I had read Yellow Typhoon. Goes directly to action, which I think it's a plus. Readers may get confused at the amount of terms being introduced though. I was going to try to give you examples of situating the terms but I think it would only aggravate the problem, so you did better than I would've done.

Lawrence's relationship with Victoria is cute; some said it was cheesy in the last time you posted a draft and I agreed, but I'm not feeling it's as cheesy this time around. Or maybe I'm just tired. Romance is always somewhat cheesy in my eyes anyway, but the RR is especially assexual.

Length-wise it's on the shorter size, I suppose this is what you wrote today and posted here, so you have plenty of word budget in the chapter. I would use it to introduce the meaning of the concepts you've introduced. Especially Zeta and the Tacomas as both are the main threats Victoria is going against in this part of the story.

I don't think you need to introduce Victoria by the full name, at least no yet. Schwarzenberger is quite a mouthful, if awesome name.

I really like it, I'm disappointed with the slow pace of chapter release, currently barely anything is resolved and the story ended in the most interesting part, which sucks.

Anymore recommendations like that? PGTS is much better at progression and conveying emotion than mother of learning, even though it's the same autistic kinda type of progression. I mea i really like it. For now - the author can still ruin it with some dumb shit like lizardfucking.

my story had one major antagonist and I look back and realize maybe this was a mistake but it is hard to craft a true long-term antagonist when the main character is someone who would kill on sight or die trying. The options are unseen-but-often-talked-about boss or cartoon villain that always gets away somehow and I don't like either of those. I ended up eventually having an untouchable character who is killed by someone else and I don't think that's very wish-fulfillment. I have autism.

What about a villain that always escapes by throwing a subordinate under the bus? You get a single major antagonist and the wish-fulfilment of a villain getting up-comerance. Throw in something like the villain getting crippled and bitter after narrowingly escaping death and you got the recipe for some good antagonist.

Just make it to where for every major encounter, the power dynamic shifts further into your protagonist's favor.
1st: Protag rushes to fight before he is ready, needs to get bailed out. Protagonist losses.
2nd: Protag has gotten some growth, is now an equal match for the antag. This time, the antag is the one who gets bailed out. Protag is closer, but this is still a stalemate/loss.
3rd: Protag is beyond than the antag, so much so that the antag's attempt at bailing is thwarted.

He could have whoever he pleases; after all they're all in his employ. But he wants to wheedle into their affections. Amid the turmoil of feelings, things turn nasty between the maids, but he does little to intervene. When any girl threatens to overmatch the rest, he merely cools on her for a while. The house, meanwhile, has never looked better. On and on whirls the merry-go-round, indefinitely. What do we think? Add magic at opportune moments, and it could be a runaway hit.

Someone should unironically make a story about that 4chan post concerning a secret society that punches people so hard they turn into doors, and the protagonist finding out that's how all doors are made.

My antagonist is basically on his last legs after three encounters. He crippled the protagonist, and got crippled in return. Second encounter he lost an arm and is basically human wreckage. I'm writing a web novel with the female MC. There's very little preface to the action. The reader is thrust into her hero's journey toward the mist-cloaked peak of a mountain. When she reaches the top, her sword incarnadined with battle, we come to find that the holy grail she's been fighting toward is an abortion clinic. Once she shuffles in the door and slides into the stirrups before the examine doctor, the conclusion proceeds as realistically as any kitchen-sink drama. There's the disapproving nurse and the cold-fish doctor, and the patient tense and fearful. The unyielding light plays up and down the doctor's instruments. He slaps on his latex gloves, adjusts his glasses, and says Let's Begin.

After some thought, I believe my black hole/void-based power concept is the strongest foundation for my LitRPG, as it contains all the genre essentials:
Magic System: Void-infused abilities, unique to each individual.
Magic Users: The Altered are humans who have come into contact with the Void yet manage to retain their sense of self. Their power is determined by the degree of exposure. Second-hand exposure, such as slaying abominations, is the most reliable way to grow stronger while minimizing Void corruption. Certain bloodlines are naturally more resistant to corruption. Then there are the Void Walkers, those who have directly touched the Void and returned, bearing forbidden knowledge and immense power. They are the true rulers of this world. Many who enter the Void in search of power lose themselves entirely, becoming something unrecognizable.
Monsters: Living beings twisted into eldritch abominations by Void corruption. The extent of their corruption determines their strength. Human-based abominations are often the most dangerous, their higher brain function making them more susceptible to the Void’s whispers.
Map: A post-post-apocalyptic Earth, warped by the Void’s influence. Floating manors drift in the sky, black cathedrals pierce the clouds, dark forests shift and move in the night, and rivers carry the screaming souls of the dead. This brave new world offers no shortage of unique and twisted locations to explore.
Factions: Different Void Walkers rule over their own territories. Despite being a Void Walker, he appears unchanged and uncorrupted by the Void’s influence, or at least he believes he hasn’t changed much. One moment, he was waiting in line to buy Pokemon cards, and the next, the world went black before he was hurled into the future. As an avid gamer, his Void powers manifest in the form of an RPG-style system, complete with an item shop and skill trees.

I've been thinking about doing a litrpg with a support focused protagonist. There's been a trend of them lately in anime with them not realizing how important they are or their party rejecting them for being useless at combat, but I think it would be more interesting to write one who is the strategic leader and is known to be the lynchpin of the team. Not necessarily overpowered, but recognized as an important role and treated as such.

I've been reading Halls of Magic by Annabelle Hawthorne and M. E. Thorne and I realized that the potential of meeting other characters - conscious actors - is what makes worldbuilding interesting in a story. You can create a cool fantasy world, but if it doesn't have other characters in it it isn't nearly as interesting. I didn't realize it while reading Hemingway's Fisherman and the Sea, but I think I didn't get invested in that story for the same reason.

Why do western authors write characters that always try to get rid of slavery the first chance they get? I just started reading a story. MC gets isekai'd, defeats some noble and inherits all his servants. First thing he does is try to release all the servants from servitude because of some weird moral sense. Why? It's a stupid thing to do in a world you don't even know. Why would you get rid of all your help before you even know wtf you're doing?

Web novels are sorely bereft of sex scenes. How come? I've read uncounted volumes of RR novels and not a one features a pair of beef boys with their pikestaffs drawn roasting a lustful little wench en brochette. I ask you, why not? It's got to the point where a good sex scene would separate you from the masses of daily published work in a big way; your star could soar.

I take a scattergun approach to web novels. The worlds don't develop linearly but spin out from different directions; a nameless centripetal force, i.e., the author, then pulls them into order. You start from one point of the compass and work toward the center, where the action lies. Then you back up to a new point and start again. Between the start and the climax, little time passes but the reader has learned immensities of detail. And the inestimable richness of an alien world is made real to them. That's the goal of these novels--not some lumpen stroll from point (a) to point (b), a tenet cherished by traditional publishers, but a whole new way of seeing. Also loads of sex. You can't scant the sex.
