How's the writing career coming, /lit/?
I wrote an hour today
>>25064943You also wrote "I wrote" and "today" today
>>25064862About halfway done with the thing I'm doing for a contest. Already sent two other texts out for another contest. Winning 3rd place last year really bumped my confidence.
all I do is take notesi dont even write essays from them i just take notesi am the note takerthe taker of notes
>>25064963Maybe a 100 years from now people will be reading your notes. They published Robert Crumb's sketchbooks after all.

I work retail and tell myself I'm going to work on my novel for real after work today, then I just zone out scrolling 4chan or masturbate if I'm horny and go to bed after dinner.
>>25064862I think I'm too autistic to write. I have ideas but I have no idea how to execute them in a way that will make other people care. Even when I read I often miss the point because it happens to be about something that isn't important to me.
>>25064992There's value in that. Don't give up.
>>25064862Gave up on it. Im going to be a lawyer instead. More fun. Learning how to woodwork as a creative outlet. Simpler.
>>25064994What could possibly be the value of being so out of touch with a broad range of human emotions and relationships that I can't fathom how to make people interested and invested in something I want to express to them?
>>25065002"In the land of the normalnigger, the autistic-eyed man is king"
Yesterday made a TikTok video to promote my self-published book. It got just under 100 views with no likes or comments.
>>25065014Post book.
I run a small blog that averages 15 views a week with the viewership largely comprised of Indians. This is not my intended audience, there is no monetization, but I’m having a blast.
every day I write is a good day. I write because it pleases God. even if one person reads what I write and it helps them in some way, the work has been done. I expect nothing else. go with God.
>>25065025Some of us here have respect for the rules.I can't self-promote here. Not post the book's title,No, norEncourage you to look it up on Kobo, BaRnes & Noble'S, or Amazon. Doing so would constitutE a major violation to the principalS that keep this place afloat. No, I Can't post my book, not now, not latEr. Not only shall I noT post it, but I shall actively discourage such practices.
>barnes & noble'swhy do people do this?
>>25065075It's almost like anon was trying to spell something out for us
>>25065090no I mean adding " 's " to the end of the store name (he could have split barnes instead). it's just barnes & noble. that's it. that's the whole name.
>>25065099I think it's a Midwest thing. People call it Meijer's and Kroger's and Lovers' Lane's.
>>25064959Maybe I should start writing for contests and magazines again.
>>25065153I got fucking tired of submitting to contests, and, for that matter, to magazines and journals that charged a submission fee. I kept getting rejected from them and it dawned on me past a certain point that I was just paying to be rejected.Nowadays I don't submit to any journal or website that charges a reading/submission fee, and I only submit to contests if the payout for winners is sufficiently high. I have better things to do than pay to be rejected, I'm not that much of a sucker.
>>25064862I'm up to about 150 mags. But, largely, a writing career is quite boring. All these online writers seem to be part of big cliques and whatnot, hosting their readings and literary nights out, and, as silly as most of those are, they do seem a little fun. Guess I'm lacking a bit of the social aspect of things. Knowing the right people in this industry is often better than being able to write well.
>>25065099>>25065113Midwesterners have a higher concentration of free carpenters and Satanists. So they are more possessive by nature.
>>25065058I bought your stupid book. Better not have any interacial shit in there
>>25065224I bought it too. I hope it's the right one. 70ish page novella.
