On 4chan:There are two aspects to merely clever argumentation that call for fur-ther notice and which are to be contrasted with conceptually comprehend-ing thinking.53 – On the one hand, merely clever argumentation conductsitself negatively towards the content apprehended; it knows how to refuteit and reduce it to nothing. It says, “This is not the way it is”; this insight isthe merely negative; it is final, and it does not itself go beyond itself to a newcontent. Rather, if it is again to have any content, something other fromsomewhere else has to be found. It is reflection into the empty I, the vanityof its own knowing. – What this vanity expresses is not only that this con-tent is vain but also that this insight itself is vain, for it is the negative whichcatches no glimpse of the positive within itself. Because this reflection doesnot gain its negativity itself for its content, it is not immersed in the sub-ject matter at all but is always above and beyond it, and thus it imaginesthat by asserting the void, it is going much further than the insight whichwas so rich in content. On the other hand, as was formerly pointed out,in comprehensive thinking, the negative belongs to the content itself andis the positive, both as its immanent movement and determination and asthe totality of these. Taken as a result, it is the determinate negative whichemerges out of this movement and is likewise thereby a positive content.
The reason I liked 4chan at some point was precisely because it was the only place where people were willing to sincerely explore silly ideas instead of citing tired dogma to "debunk" everything for ego points. Today there's no place anywhere online or irl that isn't completely saturated in reddit debunkers. Even western governments are now spending money and energy on censoring anyone exploring ideas since they're "spreading misinformation".The explorer knows both the territory and how flawed his map is. The brainwashed retard pointing out the flaws in the map as if it undermines the work of the explorer while doing no actual exploring himself doesn't know anything.
My interpretation of this is basically he's discussing reflexive contrarians vs those pursuing truth. For cynics its easier to tear down than build. You can criticize all you want from a position of privilege, that's the easy part, but pointing out flaws in a system does not automatically put one in possession of a better one. Mindless critique is a form of solipsism used to reflect their own cleverness ("vanity of its own knowing.") They feel superior for seeing through the "matrix" or the "illusion", but this superiority is ultimately hollow. If you define yourself purely by what you are against rather than what you are for, the act of negation lacks substance. You are the cynic who mistakes the ability to deconstruct for wisdom. Basically - ask yourself if your critique is meant to achieve the pursuit of truth, or to masturbate your own ego.

None of this will be solved until we build the Neo-Platonic Republic.

That exactly what gave 4chinz its unique taste, which was reflected on memes and the underground picks on each board. Unfortunately, that has been replaced by the same corpo crap you find everywhere elss and if you resist against it you are labelled as an "election tourist".
