The same conclusion can be reached without knowing anything about the historical Kafka, the art justifies its own meaning, but the meaning concerns the creation of the art itself.Read like half of it so you can dunk on me for being wrong, then read the rest of it when you realise I'm right. Enjoy.

He does the same thing in the original manuscript of The Tunnel as well, which had a loose "The..." at the end before it was edited out posthumously. Well done.

While K does become complicit in his own trial, this isn't the thing that makes him guilty, but a recognition of the reality of the world which he's forced to inhabit. Being tried punishes the accused as though they're already guilty, so living the rest of their life this way is the same as them being guilty, and this proof through life of their guilt becomes the justification for their mistreatment. K doesn't make himself guilty, he simply recognises that the truth of the world overwhelms his personal convictions, “’‘A depressing opinion,’ said K. ‘It means that the world is founded on untruth.’”
