Philosophers are not popular people. Socrates was made to drink poison for "corrupting the youth". Plato was bood and hissed during his one public speech. Giordano Bruno, murdered by the church. If the Nazis had actually understood Nietzsche they would have gassed him. Most of us live inside shared stories and comforting fantasies. The last thing we want is to have those disrupted by a fucking philosopher. But that is really the philosopher's only job. So smart philosophers who want the love of the masses don't speak directly. They tell stories. They weave myths. They write science fiction.Frank Herbert was an interesting philosophical thinker. Which is why it's difficult to identify his philosophy exactly. An LSD tripping hippy Jungian and a committed Republican activist is quite a combination. Dune is a book about totalitarian power that confirmed Herbert's belief that most people long to be under totalitarian control. Try as he might Herbert couldn't get his readers to despise Paul or Leto, however absurd a caricature of totalitarian power he made them.Even today many "fans" of Dune, if they really understood what Herbert was saying, would burn him as a heretic.

do ppl want to understand or do they want to feel emotion
These insights you have are the ones everyone else didn't bother to pick up off the floor, let alone claim. Dune is adequately executed pulp fiction. Take it easy.

>smart>philosophersPick one. Philosophers are not popular because they're annoying as hell and only pretend to be smart. Pic related.
