getting feedback is too addicting
>>25639294Shit's like crack when people positively discuss your work
>>25639294She is literally me.I also can't help the compulsion to be "original" with my shit even when I try to write to market.
>>25639312i even love negative as long as its reasonable and i can improve off it
I don't give a fuck about feedback. When it's negative, it's because the illiterate esl skipped half the chapter or forgot a thing established five minutes earlier, and when it's positive, it's because the reader disregarded the text and hallucinated some fanfiction according to his personal preferences.
>>25639446Then what do you care about publishing? Keep it to yourself and read to yourself. There's a logical amount of loathing to the readoids but if you can't even tolerate praise from them then there's no point in you publishing. That kind of antipathic behavior manifests in your writing and ends up turning it into trash.
>>25639294>check author's dashboard>one message>probably something notification about one of the threads I posted in>It's a PM from a reader
>getting messages in my comments telling me to publish my book with them and all I need to do is dm them and give them $100i'm so gmi bros...
>>25639455>Then what do you care about publishing?I get paid for it
>>25639797No you don't.
>>25639802cope & seethe
>>25639510Nice>>25639294I write for myself but I like feedback or comments. Makes me feel good. But I also kinda want to explore my style because I don't know how people feel about it. It's like cooking im happy and it's perfect for my taste so nobody is going to beat that but I still want to know if I'm objectively shit or not.
>>25639855You're doing anything except actually proving you "get paid" for it. You don't do anything.
>>25639859newfag, everyone in this thread already knows not to prove their pen name because then mentally ill retards will hunt them downyou're trying to bait him into doing just that so you can harass him, 100%
I'm on the slippery slope, lads. I would never use LLMs to write my prose or wider story but using Claude as a sounding board just solved a single plot hole I've been struggling to explain for years. The solution is so elegant I'm actually grinning IRL. I'm elated but maybe I shouldn't be. It wasn't my solution. Maybe I'll eventually trick myself into thinking one of my real good friends on 4chan solved it for me.
>>25639862Because all the anons who've outed themselves in previous threads have cited numerous cases of being harassed, right. You don't do shit, nigger, and pretending to be the other lowercase guy isn't going to make you sound authentic.
>>25639865take your meds you schizophrenic
I thought people were joking when they said you can get readers even with a mediocre story as long as it's entertaining, but I've been reading this pure slop and I actually want to keep going despite that. Is this what drug addicts feel?
>>25639890I'm gonna teach you a science lesson you might already know but maybe some intrepid authors here don't.Dopamine is misinterpreted as just the "Happy chemical" because it does cause euphoric feelings that reinforce behaviors. But that's really only a part of its function. It's more specifically the "Chase chemical" and it rewards pursuit-based behaviors, as a means of neurochemically encouraging animals to seek out their food (either by chasing prey or foraging through the dirt or what have you). This includes curiosity, as that drives investigation and thus finding new sources of nutrition. And sometimes, as humans are thinking animals, that curiosity now manifests as "What stupid decision is the author going to make this time?" and now suddenly you have addicts whose brains recognize slop as cognitively rewarding. If you want an example of this, Kengan Omega has chapter releases every Wednesday and they make threads about it on /a/. You can witness this specific dopamine response in real time.
I've got an idea for a story but don't know how to continue>FeMC gets reincarnated into a different world with swords and magic>Is OP by some quirkWhere can I take it from here?
>>25639966I dunno given you haven't really come up with a story at that point. You aren't even at elevator pitch stage yet.
