>>22520723It's too bad we don't see mixed arms in action even though in the lore the federation used mixed arms heavily to make up for their fewer MS. >>22520975The basic GM was in full scale production for the last few months of the war, and served as the main fighting unit for the Federation's push back into space. There aren't exact figures for any GM production except for certain batches, but most sources seem to mention 288 or 330 GMs as a minimum for the first couple of production batches of the plain old GM A and B types from Jaburo, so it really wouldn't be a stretch to have maybe 500+ GMs counting all variations since even non-mainline models like the Ground GM from 08th MS Team had a run of around 50 units, and there are other sites like Augusta and Luna II developing the GM D\Command types and the GM Kai type respectively which saw a decent number of units.

>>22520786>The GM is getting Sherman'd and i won't stand for it.Which is funny because the prevailing thought of Shermans being garbage bins on tracks happened for decades after World War 2 before the record was set straight by people who bothered to review and analyze army reports, rather than taking anecdotes as gospel, where it showed that the Sherman was an effective tank for most of its lifespan and through its many marks, even if it was far from a perfect design, while the opposite happened for the GM, where it was initially considered an effective and formidable counterpart to Zeon's mobile suits, but subsequent media chose to play it off as a hunk of junk that could barely compete with a Zaku II.
>>22523175It is wild how much the perception of the Sherman was formed by people reading a book that essentially just said 'as the man in charge of hosing out recovered Shermans, I saw a lot of busted up Shermans', and not thinking even a second longer about why he might have that impression.
>>22521783what the fuck were they thinking? Why in God's name would you take that away? Especially when we're in an elect- oh. Oh, I get it now. Yippee.
>>22523175The zeekwank is getting stronger and stronger with japs. At some point I wouldn't be surprised if they make a side story about how Zeon self-sabotaged out of guilt or something could have easily won the war and everyone secretly hated Gihren the entire time. Code Fairy was already trying to get people to sympathize for the cast by painting the zeek girls and their commander as being aware of the zabis' evil but they simply had no choice but to gun down hundreds of GMs over the course of the game.

Of course Doan was gonna one-man mog a whole squad of nameless GMs because he's an experienced mobile suit pilot. And to be fair: The GMs were actually WINNING on the Morocco front before the brown quad stars rolled in because we gotta hype them up before Amuro and Doan slaughter them.TL;DR: The GM is still an effective mobile suit. It's just that A: Most feddies are lazy fucks who need gundam's aimbot to show them how to beam spray gun properly and B: They exist to job to the zeon MOTW to hype it up before Amuro mercs it, because the gundam is the one people want to see kick zeon's ass.>>22522816They did that with AGE and people complained it was too toy-like.

There should be spinoffs where the Feddy protagonist team are only piloting variants of the 'standard' units; ie- GMs, Guncannons, Guntanks (maybe some non-MS supporting units in there alongside the team for the barest hint of combined-arms).The White Dingos didn't need an original fanfic gundam to be cool in their sidestory.

There should be more stuff of a GM duel-wielding sprayguns like pistols and going all John WooLike a good loadout would be going into battle with a pair of bazookas in the hands for the initial longer-range engagement with a pair of beam sprayguns mounted on thigh-hardpoints in reserve, then after the bazookas run dry naturally switching to the sprayguns.Grunt mobile suits tend to be really underarmed with just a single hand-carried ranged weapon and then a melee backup, with maybe vulcans or a couple of rockets in their shield on top of that if they're lucky.

>>22535245There's also a pretty solid historical parallel with the SS there, to be fair. The SS, as an organisation of the Nazi party rather than part of the German military establishment, had to source a lot of their own equipment as they became more of a fighting force in their own right. As almost all German production capacity was flat-out for the German armed forces, they ended up using a whole bunch of eclectic equipment produced in occupied countries.Given their status outside the normal EFF command chain and their penchant for sourcing their own hardware, I don't think it's entirely unreasonable that for their gap-filler grunt suit they'd be fine with reusing as much tooling as possible from existing factories to expedite production and use up existing slack capacity.Particularly if you factor in 0083 and the regular EFSF having to re-rearm probably booking out AE's regular, GM-adjacent capacity for a couple years straight. All of that being said, I would still prefer them at least visibly having more GMs and descendants in their on-screen arsenal and the decision I just spent a paragraph rationalising was mainly done to give them bad guy coded suits.

In line with some earlier talk ITT, I personally think the Nemo in its OG color scheme looks pretty nice but I think any GM can look good if its color scheme is distributed properly.

>>22547337That's not true, it was the GM frame modified from the ground up for underwater environments much like the early Zaku underwater-combat models. The Federation just didn't engage in the retardation of designing and building a hundred different MS for underwater combat despite that being such a limited portion of the war.
They need more feddy gundam mangas where the protagonist pilots some sort of GM (or other readily produced grunt design) rather than having a BRAND NEW GUNDAM (usually inserted into the OYW).
>>22520704Question, why people like Zeon mechs when they look fat as shit? For me, Zeon design started catching up with Feds design when they started slimming down, like Bawoo, Gerbera Tetra, and Geara Zulu.
>>22550676Geara Zulu looks like trash, its literally a robot cosplaying as a nazi soldier which looks lame. Also the 'Sleeves' they take their faction name from are stupid.
>>22550676I hope this won't sound rude but it is probably your personal taste. Zeon suits' appeal comes in part from their unusual shapes, bulkiness, and often more alien or unusual appearances. The Geara Zulu in this sense is about one of the poorest quality Zeon suits, just as >>22550695 mentions it really throws away the design qualities of actual Zeon MS in favor of just being a cosplaying soldier. This is coming from an unironic Fedfag, the Geara Doga outclasses the Zulu in the looks department so far as actually looking like an obviously "Zeon" Mobile Suit. A Dom, for all its bulk, is still only about on par with a GM in technological terms. It's an interesting way to think about the levels of technology, design philosophies, and engineering solutions each side took to make the respective machines alongside the obvious faction identification. Jim is my favorite Mobile Suit of them all, but I think nearly all of them have their merits.Part of what makes Gundam interesting is this aspect of design language. You can almost immediately tell just by looking at a Mobile Suit whether it's Federation or Zeon designed just based on how it looks a lot of the time. Even in MS where the design starts to converge like the Javelin and Zoloat here there are notable differences between the two and how Zanscare MS tend to be designed which distinguish them from the more workmanlike and straightforward Federation machines.
>>22550652Gundam in general suffers from this, every time you want a new perspective it always seems to need to come with a new Gundam instead of the enormous smattering of Mobile Suits that already exist, or you do get your wish but it gets monkeys paw'd hard.

>>22575485Lol thanks for the point out anon. I forgot to finish the sentence, which was along the lines of external media and merchandise always coloured the mainline GM and it's variants as white. Looks like I fell victim to that too.
>>22573830LOEV that pic.
>>22578967>still got the heat sword>uses bazooka as a club insteadDumb Rick Dom
>>22579329Dom spicy sticks are so dumb.
>>22573566>high spec for a gruntYes, it is on par with the Gundam maybe a little less spec’d. Sniper II is definitely a 1:1.I always thought of it as: Rx-78-2 = Sniper II > Sniper C > Rx-78-1 > Standard GMs I’m sure the other variants like Night seeker, Interceptor, guard custom, are among that, if not spec’d better for a specific mission
>>22581423I never understood if the sniper ii is supposed to be on par with the original RX 78-2 or the G3
>>22581430Technically the GM Sniper II already has some higher specs than both the RX-78-2 and the RX-78-3, barring luna titanium armor. But Amuro can make better use of the Gundam's maximum performance in terms of mobility and killing efficiency due to pilot skill and newtype senses. A more common pilot can't quite pull that off so they need a GM with higher thrust specs and more maneuvering thrusters to reach similar sort of battle performance as the Gundam.
I love GMs
>>22584225Same
>>22584225Did the Nemo ever get an onscreen kill?
>>22585407Some here and there. This one even scored some mobility/disable kills when unmanned.
>>22522989I love the gm3 so fucking much
It has the GM visor so it counts

>>22585481>Unmanned Nemo does exponentially better than the average Nemo pilotI honestly really like the Nemo aesthetically, and I appreciate the unique color scheme, but spec wise I doubt it's better than the GMII
>>22586003It was designed afterwards and not expected to be retrofitted from an existing GM, wouldn't be surprised if it edges out the GMII just from being built from the ground-up with modern tech.
>>22524313literally the reason given in the TV show why it was so important for the gundam and white base to reach jaburo was because they wanted the data from the learning computer to update their GMs with rather than the gundam itself.
>>22586056You're making that up. The GMs aren't even mentioned until after they're inside Jaburo
