Anyone know anything about this game?
Anyone gonna buy it?
>>
>>22568284
It's Level 5, that means it's dog shit.

They already tried to make it a multimedia franchise in Japan and every aspect of it has bombed.
>>
>>22568302
The hell is megaton musashi though?
>>
>>22568284
It has Mazinger Z, Getter Robo and Grendizer
it should be an instant-buy for Nagai fans
>>
THERE'S A RELEASE DATE?????
>>
>>22568358
Just Bing it, you lazy fuck
>>
>>22568595
>bing
>>
>>22568284
>Anyone gonna buy it?
Only learned about it today. Will certainly buy, though probably wait till there is a sale.
>>
>>22568284
Will this continue the story past the show?
>>
>>22568284
I'm basically just buying it for the guest super robots. Too bad we don't get their pilots.
>>
>>22569429
Supposedly, yeah.
>>
>>22568284
I don't get it, is this a sequel that's being released in english despite the original being JP only, or a re-release that includes the original+new content? If it's the second I may be interested
>>
>>22568302
i liked fantasy life and lbx(although i have been waiting for lbx for years before it came out here)but they have a garbage release pattern. the fact that we never got the lbx sequel is pure bullshit
>>
>>22569598
>>22568284
It's the complete game the starts from the beginning of the anime and continues past it.
>>
>>22568377
Apparently this version might be missing Grendizer, so just Mazinger Z, Getter, Combattler and Voltes. The website promises more in the future though.

https://www.megaton-musashi.jp/wired/en/
>>
>>22568284
Is this a different game to the one that was being posted way back?

Remember the response before to that being fairly negative.
>>
>>22571819
W is an "updated" version but it's fundamentally the same thing, still trash.
>>
>>22571839
What makes it so trash?
Looks like a super robot gundam breaker / dynasty warriors from the footage I've seen.
>>
>>22572634
It's not trash, that anon is exaggerating.
>>
>>22570057
Maybe they're planning to put it in when Grendizer U airs for that synergy.
>>
>>22568284
So, I have a quick question about the bonus robot Yatabushi. If I'm reading it right, you lose the change to get this if you don't get the game before the end of May? Does Level 5 release exclusive content later on or is this something you need to get, or it's lost for good?
>>
>>22579248
There's a note on the website that says it could be available later through another method.
>>
>>22579251
That's good then I can wait to buy it then, I've been had before when it comes to pre order content that never gets rereleased in the past.
>>
>>22579251
Yeah, like how SRW 30 had content you got for preordering but showed up later, think as paid dlc.
>>
>>22568284
I will, with couple of friends
megaton was great show and original game was quite decent - but left in japan
then due low sales sequel was remade into f2p title, still left in japan
now this version basically ultimate game which covers whole anime and beyond anime plot.
gameplay is basically good gundam breaker
aka brawler - beat enemies and bossses on stage, get parts, customize, repeat.
>>22568406
literally on op screen
>>
>instead of just using the scenes from the anime for the game they made completely different higher quality scenes

What a weird use of resources
>>

>>
Why does Level 5 keep trying? Everything they've ever done has been an embarrassing flop.
>>
I thought the game already came out on Switch?
>>
>>22582148
>>22583400
Why you gotta be like that?
>>
>>22583679
It was og release, which hardly anyone played, it was jp only.
this is basically 3 games in one

From the gameplay footage I've seen it's basically LBX but scaled up? I enjoyed LBX. It didn't quite scratch the Custom Robo itch, but it was still a fairly decent game.
>>
Played the original and most of X (didn't play the update after anime S2 ended).
I like the game a lot and wish more people played it. I hope they don't totally fuck up the English translation or PC port and it's good.
I don't like that the MTX and battle pass from X are still in, but whatever, it doesn't ruin the game. Probably going to damage its public opinion in the west though.
>>
So how in depth are the customizations and options, at least as they were in the P2P version? Just this upgrade gives +5 to boost, or are you mixing and matching weapons or abilities/skills/biscuits whatever from different suits and pilots?
>>
>>22568284
is it fun solo? broke right now so i'm gonna pirate it

Everything about it seems at least decent. Which is more than what I can say for most gundam games being put out now.
>>
>>22581706
The second version is obviously censored, removing sexual tension aspect entirely.
>>
>>22588697
Looks like Gundam Breaker 4 will make it obsolete instantly.
>>
>>22588786
Megaton seems to be better game overall desu
and I'm someone who was generally pleased with GB4
But even first Musashi release already was better in sheer control aspect and gameplay aspect than GB4
still either way musashi releases in a week while GB4 eventually
>>

There's definitely going to be a lot of it. Since they are adding another tier of rarity and another form of player rank that you level up.
>>
>>22588697
Gameplay-wise this looks like C21/Cosmic Break + Gotcha Force, and done well at that

Doesn't look like it'll scratch the mecha itch for me, though
>>
>>22583734
Its LBX in terms of combat but with a shit ton more Attack Functions and a bit of MonHun esque loot grind/escalation

I'd post the Skill Upgrade Chart but I don't know if I could get a decent shot of it.
>>

Nah. Those robot designs aren't doing it for me.

They finally revealed what is actually in the new game
>New Story mode with new protagonist
>New tier of loot rarity "Relic Legendary"
>New leveling system "Megaton Rank" unlocked by hitting level 70 and completing the story. Leveling this rank a new difficulty of missions
>new upgrade system "Neural Board" unlocked with Megaton Rank
>Weapons now have proficiency and level up as you use them
>High rank pvp changed from 3v3 to 2v2 and pvp now contains super weapons
>Challenge missions that get harder the more you do them and have a leaderboard

They weren't kidding when they said the game has the same full story as the anime. They could have easily just put it all in a menu like armored core but instead they went all in on a town with a day night cycle and shops that sell you parts.
>>
So, some people have already said it's like LBX/Danball Senki. How far does the customization go? Can I swap arms and such?

Every piece of gear can have mod slots for stats boosts.

I just unlocked the motherboard laboratory which a 360 item skill tree to get chips for your motherboard which is where you get special attacks and stat boosts like making your melee dash attack do 350% more damage or getting a Sniper CPU where you do 400% more ranged damage to an untouched enemy or doing 300% more damage when hitting enemies from behind or doing 240% more damage in the air while reducing the cost to airboost.

According to the database menu there's 54 robots that are all 6 parts, 214 weapons, 97 special attacks, and 140 enemies.

Pretty sure pilots have their own skill trees that will open up later then they added weapon proficiency and another new skill tree in this version
>>
Any anons with the game know if the Holo decals are in already?
Debating following this guide for free stuffs from the f2p game but it looks like I'd have to deal with JP account bullshit

https://medium.com/@DartsEnthusiast/guide-get-these-items-for-free-in-megaton-musashi-x-and-transfer-them-to-wired-57830b01fc27
>>
>>22593471
Left and Right Arms, Body and Legs are separate. Heads are typically associated with the core body piece and legs are one unit. You can have 6 different weapons (3 melee, 3 ranged) and four standard super moves (essentially the face buttons once you hold down a trigger) and one Kabuki Function (basically a big ass cinematic super; you get Muramasa as part of the story by default during the end of "season 1")

There's the huge ass motherboard skill tree as well that also includes the standard stat bonuses, new super moves and Kabuki Functions. There's also the Pilot Skill tree as well; it's nothing too fancy. It's just bonuses if you use the right weapons with the right characters in addition to non-weapon bonuses too.

You can also craft parts with the general materials you get as well or upgrade parts you like as well. I only really bothered with upgrading parts I like and didn't really craft anything.

There's a 'recycling system' where you toss parts and weapons you don't want anymore into a zone and it'll increase your chances of getting high level drops for that specific category. So say you want a high-rarity body, you can toss a whole bunch of junk body parts in the recycling and it'll bump up your chances of getting high level parts from mission drops.

That's all in addition to the standard paint/decal customization too.

I know nothing about this game. Is it like monster hunter where you farm bosses in a map for their loot?
>>

Every mission has a specific pool of loot and you can filter missions by specific items you are looking for. Like if you want Combattler pieces the side mission where you unlock it will drop a shitload of pieces for it if you keep replaying it and even if you are doing a really low level mission there is a chance that gear will drop at your level.

So is it worth the 50 dollary doos? I LOVE LBX if that means anything. How long is the og andd X anyway?
>>
>>22596057
The first game was like 8 hours if you only did the story and skipped all the side missions and collectables scattered around the giant town hub. X doubled the story added more loot rarities and side missions. Wired is more story with 3 more loot rarities more side missions and a skill tree that only opens up when you beat the story. You can easily get 100+ hours out of it
>>
>>22596072
>You can easily get 100+ hours out of it
That's all i needed to hear.
Also with the sidquests, would you clock in atleast 40ish hours or is it a "short" game in general?
>>
>>22596072
Are those side missions timed/missable, anon? A friend of mine would probably skip some to get through the story faster so we can co-op stuff, and I don't want him to miss out since I'm usually the one helping him find the good stuff in games.
>>
>>22596075
Sidequests in town are just little things with npcs and completing them can open up rooms with collectables like helping a kid get a bandaid opens the nurses office in the school so they should always be around. Side missions are just a big list in a menu.

Getting certain collectables opens up side events that give characters more story like finding out one of the characters that is part of the command bridge is in a band
>>
>>22595221
gotcha force for the gamecube. its crazy that capcom didnt make new versions for the switch or at least a port of the original
>>
So how bad is the pay-to-not-wait stuff in this game? Or has all that been wiped out from OG and X?
>>
>>22596171
It's all wiped in Wired so it's significantly less grindy
>>
>>22596171
All the exp boosters and shit that they were selling in X is gone and now you can buy boosters with currency you earn ingame and they buffed base droprates.

There's a battlepass but it's not a fomo battlepass with special rewards like it was in X it just gives some extra materials and resets when it's over. The deluxe edition permanently gives you the premium part of the pass which gives more of the materials.

How much of it is mindless grind? I'm playing through SD Gundam Battle Alliance and the grind for the Mobile Suits feels like some sort of gacha hell. It's already getting tiresome despite me using 100% drop rate, movement speed and one hit kill cheats for that, I can't imagine how anyone can grind it out the proper way. Playing through the story itself is fairly fun though.

How's performance on the Switch version? I prefer to play grindy games like this on a handheld instead of a console.
>>
>>22598502
About what you expect, fairly consistent 30, drops a bit during intense moments but quickly recovers.
This series started on switch so you should be fine especially if you play on switch often enough.
There's plenty of gameplay out on the older switch version so still go watch and see regardless, also you'll need nintendo online to play online co op or pvp.
Also it does support crossplay between all versions
>>
>>22598508
Cool. If it's about average for a Switch game then I should be fine. I'll look at some old gameplay before I bite the bullet, but I'll probably set up the download before I go in to work today.

You can level up gear once you hit chapter 10 with iconic legendaries being able to be raised 10 levels higher than your current rank. But the new endgame has three new rarity types so you can't keep them forever.
>>
>>22598591
So I shouldn't care too much about ranks and rarities until I hit endgame? Is there a way change the appearance of your mech without changing the parts? Like layered armor in monster hunter.
>>
>>22598598
You'll get tons of legendary gear as you progress since they buffed drop rates. As you have the robot parts you want to use visually in your inventory you can layer it over other parts.

Pros:
Great getter style crazy story
It's gundam breaker 3 with super robots at the cost of a bit less customization depth
Specials feel great to use and combo with
Units feel responsive as fuck
Lots to playstyle customization and eventual cosmetic customization

GETTER, MAZINGER, COMBATTLER V, AND VOLTEZ V ARE IN SO YOU CAN PLAY AS THE LADS IN A REAL TIME GAME AND SPAM SPECIALS

Has a neat PVP mode too but I don't think enough people will play to keep it fun.

Cons:
Going through the singleplayer only Story mode is mandatory to unlock the bulk of the game (co op missions) and features so if you're not liking the story it's gonna be a bit of a trudge to mash through it before playing the real gameplay loop (clearing a large variety of missions like EDF grinding up your mech) with everyone

Story missions are gonna be mostly pretty easy unless you really try to not upgrade your mecha

Overall
8/10
Buy it now to support more original mecha games with super robots and super robot crossovers

Or buy it later when it eventually goes on sale for like $15-$20 as a niche little mecha gem

The game has zero marketing so us talking about it is basically all it has.

>part 2 of the story gives you selectable difficulty from the start

To be fair, that's only because Valve makes devs list EAC as DRM because they don't (yet) have an option to specify 3rd party ACs. It's not even the super invasive variety of EAC, it's the free tier (and also has Linux support enabled)
Your other points are valid though, and made me hesitant initially. Apparently they're vestiges of the F2P nature of the previous game.
>>
>>22599592
just started and only got to the part where you can replay the "tutorial" battle, still can't decide between kbm and controller
kbm seems to have extra controls - you can cycle melee/ranged weapons with a keypress instead of opening the weapon wheel, and you can activate special moves immediately by hitting a key directly instead of opening the tech wheel
however, I can't seem to rebind running from the default CTRL
the mouse sensitivity scale isn't fine enough for me - goes from 1 to 10, but 1 is too slow for me and 2 is faster than I like but I think I can live with it
sensitivity aside, mouse aiming feels okay when entering "Aim" mode, I'll obviously have to play the game more to see if fine/precise aiming is required as there is a Lock-On system

Anon, I'm just happy we got a good game
sure, it'll suck balls if it'll do badly sales wise, but that's kinda beside the point since I already got great game to play.
As far I'm concerned - this game existing and getting WW release is already a miracle after initial lack interest in Musashi, I expected it to be left in japan and never go beyond F2P.

At this point Level 5 can go print money in their basement to fund their games for all I care.

I'm using an 8bitdo ultimate (effectively a fancy switch procon) and got gyro to work through Steam's controller config. SteamInput is supported natively by this game, which is actually kind of bad because it means the devs screwed around with things and in the process they fucked up some of the controller config menus. At least they didn't screw it up bad enough to the point where you can't fix it like some other games I've played.

To enable gyro, you have to go to Steam's Controller Configuration -> Edit Layout and then go to the gyro section because it doesn't have all the gyro options on the main screen for some reason. From there, I recommend going with Gyro to Mouse (Beta), setting the orientation to Player Space, and making the left trigger the gyro enable button. The other gyro as mouse option doesn't work for me and gyro as joystick is always kind of jank due to deadzones. No idea if it has native gyro support through DirectInput rather than SteamInput, but I didn't see any options for it in the settings so I assume it doesn't. Either way, it's controlling pretty well so far and having gyro on the aim button feels natural. Need to progress a bit to know for sure that gyro as mouse won't cause any problems though.

For Steam Deck, it looks like they expect you to use the right trackpad for aiming since the default official layout already has that and a couple back buttons set up. Very nice choices for the back buttons too; they were what I was leaning toward using on my controller before I even looked at the Steam Deck controls. Weapon Wheel and Boost, for reference. Nice to see a dev make good use of extra buttons to refine their control scheme like that.

That's a /v/ refugee. Pretty much half the threads and posts on /v/ are like that now.
>>
You can emulate the switch version too
>>
So you guys gonna go one element or mix it up? I was enjoying the fire and power moves
>>
>>22600329
End goal is probably having a build for each, but during the story I've just been throwing together whatever seems cool and is powerful enough
>>
>25 hours in
>still less than 50% of the way through the story
>never even seen a lance yet

I just like grinding
>>
>>22600391
grinding is only bad when base gameplay loop sucks balls
in general grinding is unnoticeable to enjoyable in good games cause playing them is fun
>>
>>22600391
There are lances in the game?

I really do wonder what they’re honestly expecting for sales after barely doing anything to market it. It feels like more and more JP developers these days are depending on word of mouth to get them their sales over spending money on marketing, and a lot of the time that strategy doesn’t seem to pay off.
>>
>>22600715
How do you even market something nowadays?
Pay extortion fees to youtubers?
Outside of mentioned direct.
>>
>>22600722
I feel like mech fans are more likely to have ad blockers too. DD2 did pretty well by releasing the character creator, but obviously that doesn't work for most games.
>>
>>22600722
More like how do you even market mecha stuff? Ac has the FROM label attached to it so it has all the longtime ac fans playing ac for the first time.
>>
>>22600722
Influencers is usually pretty cost-effective if you have the cash for big streamers
For JP games targeting weeb, hire vtuber, which Level-5 already does. They love Hololive collabs.
>>
>>22600751
Post got fucked while submitting. Also meant to say Level5 just didn't get any collabs going for W on the English side

It's sad the Level-5 could have have the same brandname power but they killed it with Yokai watch.

Are the bonuses stars from recycling old gear for each time I make stuff, or is it another system to work on and eventually it's a permanent bonus to possibly getting legendaries? Got a lot of spare gear and I need to start doing something with the weak stuff.
>>
>>22600751
>>22600756
I honestly think it's probably more expensive than it seems when it goes to vtubers. considering they have entire companies and agencies. I'm too out of touch to know much about that however
>>22600747
praying and word of mouth at this point. people don't care about you unless you are gundam or transformer. outside special cases of nostalgia driven shows for specific countries
>>22600744
original first megaton musashi game had demo, didn't help.
>>
Are there space battle in the game? The opening movie had space battles but I'm feeling like there isn't.
>>
>>22600784
Rumor has it that Hololive charge like 5-10k USD per hour streaming at minimum
Not that crazily expensive for big company.
>>

We did it MEGATONbros.
>>

I feel like for Level 5 margins and sales expectations after two failed releases - that's quite a hefty sum for unclear result.
After all they did promo before and maybe decided to not go for it cause it didn't actually attract paying people.
Cause while people may learn about the game thru streamer, it doesn't really mean they'll buy it.
They go for streamer for them, not for games.
>>
>>22600849
They do buy it if the streamer says to though even if they don't care to play it
So it's still a huge gain in sales to get streamers
>>
>>22600878
I wish there was some actual data to back that up.
But I don't have neither free time nor energy to gather it.
While blind fans exists, I feel like their impact is overstated.
Since I recall way back when Wii U was just released and failing, some was finding various celebrity circlejerk and talking "look, they bought console and talk about it, means all their followers will buy it too!"

Sure it was different time and such. But I can't help but to not treat any sort of celebrity promotion seriously. Even if it's more niche like this one.
>>
>>22600888
Idk man I saw every game sseth play have a x1000 increase in sales and players usually crashing their site if it was self run and he's nowhere near as big as vtubers
I think it's real stuff with parasocial relationships and the like.

I mean whether or not that can cancel out the inherent bias masses have against mecha is another discussion entirely though.
>>
>>22600888
While I'm not the anon you were talking with, I do feel the fact that they needed to encourage people to keep logging into the game means you are right and just copies sold can't be the end factor. They could have removed the daily logins and rewards for doing so, but went out of their way to ensure it was still in all the versions on different systems too. Not sure if it's for stockholders, since I would think stockholders would want more than $3.50 spent on marketing, but it has to be there for a reason.
>>
>kirishima brought up papakatsu
lmao, is this actually not a kids show? I'm tempted to watch the anime now.
>>
>>22600899
eh, maybe to some point. crashing websites are nothing really mindblowing, when they are generally never visited by more than dozens of people suddenly get influx of thousands - crashing expected.
his general reviews are for already successful titles, with very rare exception, and those exceptions are usually relatively cheap.

And for example his positive review of EDF 5 in march 2023 didn't really change overall game review numbers or players in steam at that point, and EDF is very good title.
I'd say via this you can say he did prolly very minimal impact. cause those who like EDF already play 5, those who dislike or not interested - watched hahahafunny man sseth video and done with it.

I'd say such videos only affect sales if game is dirt cheap and for "meme" value. Not for good full priced video games

I think daily log in is just left over from F2P game without much thinking about it.
Like "let's just make ultimate version of a game with everything in it"
>>
>>22600923
They did leave a lot in there they probably didn't need to, I have to agree there. Maybe it was just an intern tweaking the settings for their servers and ensuring the reward shift monthly, and I'm overestimating the costs.
>>
>>22600926
well they have coop and VS maybe keeping servers running for daily log it is a side bonus or something.
or to ease transition of F2P playerbase to Wired.
dunno

EAC games won't run with CreamAPI to begin with, you'd have to use a different DLC unlocker. If you're paranoid about bans you can always disable EAC and play offline, but I doubt they'd go through the trouble of having serverside checks for ownership just to ban people instead of saying "buy it, retard."

Now that I've had time to start the game, it seems like none of the online features even check if EAC is working. I think you can even just stop the EAC service while the game is running and it doesn't care. I doubt they have any systems in place that care about DLC piracy.
>>
How come Combattler and Voltres get their original body type while Mazinger and Getter had to conform?
>>
Going to buy it tonight but I hate that the servers will be shut down in 6 months

Isn't online still available for fucking Snack World? Didn't Level 5 keep the online puzzles for the Layton games available until Nintendo shut off DS/3DS online entirely? They seem to have a pretty good track record with keeping games running, but I don't pay attention to Yokai Watch or Inazuma 11 so maybe those have been shut down more frequently.
>>
>everyone was given a fake family
>Yamato lives completely alone
Will it ever be explained?
>>
>>22603933
I don't think it was, but I suppose brainwashing is not completely full proof. It can alienate some memories to certain degree, but if something really struck with person, they have to go around it and instead of wiping memory - manipulate it.
Like with Yamato - he probably wouldn't able to accept other family for some reason or the other, so memory was altered to "murdered", yet he remembers fire.
Maybe it depends also on having personal belongings. Like you probably can reinforce fake memory thru them if they are convincing enough but they don't have time nor infinity resources (probably) to make up whole family history and fabricate evidence.
Even game portrays fake world as not perfect in that case, you can see girl complaining that there are no new magazines and only 2-3 years old ones.
>>
how do you equip Kabuki functions?
>>
Should I play the game first and then watch the anime, or do it the other way around?
>>
>>22604064
it's multi-media project, I'd say both are valid options, they all follow same story line.
But watching probably will take less time. Since I'm 9 hours into the game and that's not even half of first season.
>>
>>22603082
Probably because the slim body type didn't exist when the original collaborations were done. Keep in mind this is basically the third release of Megaton Musashi.
>>
does the switch version run well?
>>
>>22604798
Yeah, no problems with performance here.
>>
So why is the opening in English if the whole game is in Japanese? Could they just not license the Japanese song?
>>
>>22605253
They probably just had it produced as something new to go with this international release. I think the japanese version uses it too
>>
It's a shame how little publicity this release received; I didn't even notice it existed until it launched and it's probably one of my favorite games I've played this year so far. It also feels like this game is fucking huge, I've been playing all weekend and there's still apparently tons of game to go based on all the blank slots for Rogue pieces, weapons, and town collectibles in the Collection menus. I guess part of that is because this is some kind of compilation game?

Please tell me Ibushi is playable, he has a DLC costume for some reason but it really doesn't seem like he'll ever be a full character.
>>
is it possible to disable the other mechs so you can go solo?
>>
>>22600912
If you think that's "not a kids show" material, wait till you get to some later plot points.
>>
>>22605379
>Please tell me Ibushi is playable
I think I saw someone playing as him in coop.
