I wanted my MGEX SF to be gaudy as fuck, all gold parts are gloss, same for the blacks, blue, gray blue and red. I painted the white and gray armor parts today but I'm not so sure about gloss coating them anymore. I'll be using gaudy gold holo water decals, so a flat coat would kill the holo effect. Next best thing if I don't want to gloss coat would be semi gloss, I do like the look of semi gloss white. Help me ponder, geepeegee, please

Just blasting matte as the default top coat for everything has got to be one of the most overrated things in this hobby. Sure, there’s some cases where it’s the best option, but a lot of times it just comes off as boring and uninspired. Stuff with pearlescent or metallic finishes is much more eye catching, when used in the right way of course.

I've decided to make my babby's first kit (a Beguir-Beu) look less like babby's first kit by applying some panel lining and a top coat, but since it's my first kit ever and I second-guess myself a lot, I got questions the guide doesn't really answer.1) Panel lining first, then top coat, right? I'm about to use GM01/GM02 markers for lining and a water-based Mr. Hobby matte top coat and I sort of suspect the former goes before the latter, but I'd like to make sure.2) The problem of clear parts and stickers. Guides I've seen say that coating stickers with matte is a bad idea since it dulls their shine, but I'd really like to seal them in since they're getting prone to peeling off (especially the one on the head). I also don't have access to hobby tier masking tape and the regular painter one might just end up tearing the sticker off, I think. I also have no idea how'd I even apply that tape to stuff like the clear circular parts in the shoulders.2.1) I can just use alcohol and a cotton swab to rub the coating off whatever parts don't need it later, right? 3) The backpack wings - do I keep them open or closed while coating? I'm sort of wary that they'll get either fused shut or stuck open due to the coat getting in the way, the parts seem to fit together rather snugly. And there are even more stickers in the middle section - those little purple fins sandwiched in-between the white wings.4) Doesn't apply to this kit, but for future reference - how do I not fuck up drip-type lining? I got a red GM303 since they didn't have a regular one and I heard they can crack the plastic if they're not applied properly.

It's also misaligned by a hair's breadth, but given that it's already peeling off a bit I'd rather not remove it, it might not stick back. I'm not sure if any of you guys do 3D printing, but do you know where I would find 3mm detail plugs? I know that Bandai makes some for their 30mm models but I like the look of these 3D printed ones.
