Some sort of selfsustainability and tiered resources would be an idea. Preze could get crap metal, grow potatoes and get potato biofuel. They would then have to interact with players to get that sweet avocado import, high quality steel and actual diesel.

Same with the other nations. You could be a stubborn little hermit handling all fronts yourself, but, while not dying, you could never get as strong as you'd be able to without trading and friends and just a prime bullying and raiding target by unknown players.

Making power more of an industrial capacity per tick, than something you can somehow accumulate in stores, would be another suggestion. That would make an energy market of power imports and exports, preze could be particularly favoured in power generation over the others, rather than just better factories for vague reasons.

I think I got it, the recommended guide should start with "choose a country then make farms, oil wells, or copper mines" because that's how you start playing and then explain satisfaction et al. and even then it doesn't explicitly explain how to start. The other guide explains it clearly but it's under the Recommended guide and frontloaded with Things That Can Kill You which the player is not dealing with immediately and the two important pieces of info, "build farms, oil wells, or copper mines" and "[country] is the only source of [resource]" are in separate paragraphs. Why is ">CLOP is a game of trading." not the introductory sentence? It would be the perfect axiom to understand what's happening immediately. Anyway that's my onboarding review.

Gems are for military, malls and precision parts, which are for more military and tungsten extraction.

You do not run a part of those facilities, its all or nothing.
You wont use 95 apples to run 19 facilities with 4 apples leftover and -1 sat for 1 facility not working.
You will use 0 apples, run 0 facilities, have 99 leftover apples and take -20sat for 20 buildings not working correctly, if I understand this correctly.
If you want option 1 to happen, you need to MANUALLY disable a single facility.

That's very little though, it's after all the massive expenses spent on fast-tracking the entire alliance to ascension and also parting gifts to friends IIRC. It's, like, just over the cost of a single Forbidden Research facility, and most members built a few of those each I think?
The problem with hoarding comes with taxes/inflation. To mitigate that you tend to spread your wealth out to alliance members and friends, so I doubt any single user has had much more than maybe 5-10 billion in their nation at any one time, IIRC.

Other than ascension, the biggest money sink in the game is armies, and I think the biggest armies raised in the last iteration had a cost of like 20-25 billion or so? That should be a good ballpark for the typical late-game wealth accumulation - but again it ends up being alliance-wide rather than any single preson sitting on tens of billions.

Sheets let you figure out growth steps at perfect precision, and you can have them be as small as you want, with as little margin between death as you want, just less error-prone than trying to do it all in your head

De-risking is also good for alliance management where you can't rely on your every ally being 100% perfectly infailible, on-time and fully active and with as much flawless building autism as you, it's better for everypony to grow safely together than for people to randomly die due to mistakes - this goes quadruple if you want to rely on them for your own build plans, and them being complacent would kill you due to your risk, it's never worth playing that dangerous unless it's literally someone you know IRL or something

That's a huge waste of resources one could be investing everywhere else. Even if one wants to play safe, on the start, 12 ticks is more than enough as long you come in daily, and if you'll stay away for longer, just prepare for that, 24 ticks/2 days should account for mostly anything.

If you set a faraway target then sure. You can also set a very nearby target: effectively the same thing you might be doing in your head, but validated to be the optimal next step.

You can also use spreadsheets to set yourself a faraway target and then manually work your way to it by figuring out the path in your head. It's fine and dandy to always build an extra farm provided you have enough sat, but the calculations to determine whether the basic or the advanced farm is currently optimal to expand quickly get tedious - it's exactly the sort of calculation a spreadsheet automates for you. Or which sat building will be optimal. Things like that.

Ultimately though it's a game of trading so what's "optimal" depends on what you can trade... so really spreadsheets are most useful in alliance contexts, where they allow you to coordinate a few (or a dozen) players and balance their resources out. Should you build more oil? No you shouldn't, because you have more production than a fellow sandzigger, so it's more sat-efficient if you stay put and he expands first right now! Now you're equal, should you build more oil? No you shouldn't, because the alliance is short on copper but there's a healthy oil surplus, so the zeebs have priority on expanding! Now they've expanded, should you build more oil? Sure, and should you build more toy and candy shops? No, the alliance is tight on applies, but there's a surplus of coffee nobody really needs, build a few dozen coffee shops!

If you're playing solo the calculus is definitely much simpler, as you build as much as you can afford based on the resources you can source. A spreadsheet is still helpful as described at the top of my post, but less utterly essential.

Any modestly developed nation can fix that easily. If I still had a country I'd send a small pie stockpile and a few guns, and wouldn't even notice the expense. Granted, people aren't going to be as rich these days since there are so few players. The point still stands. Don't hesitate to accept help, strong countries NEED trading partners, and would be happy to fix that to get a reliable copper seller or apple/oil buyer.

If you can find the aid, the top priority is to survive the coming war tick. A few cavalry with barding armor can endure pretty easily; unarmed units like rebels kill 1/4 of a unit per war tick before armor is calculated, and if memory serves barding halves damage from cavalry. Check the armor guide since it's been a while, but if I'm right you only need 1 cavalry per 8 rebels. Remember that you'll need 5 apples per cavalry in addition to your regular needs.
Don't worry about destroying the rebels for now. You just need to survive. If you CAN give your soldiers weapons it's better since you won't have to deal with them for as long, but they can be there pretty much forever as long as you never run out of soldiers.
A quick and dirty way to fix your satisfaction would be to disable 7 copper mines. As long as you're above -100 in loose despotism you're safe, so losing 7 more from disabled buildings but losing 14 less from the mines would get you to -0. Having so few mines turned on hurts, so consider that a very short term fix. You want to get those bars back online as soon as you can find some apples.

They also get a single initial factory for just 100,000, and the factories after that cost less bits: 150,000 for a Basic and 500,000 for an Advanced. Some people have suicided in the past by bringing their sat into the negative thousands, thus spawning a shitload of rebels. I don't remember if you get rebels on a -5000 explosion, but even so some may have fucked up and not gotten -5000 on the first tick.
Late game it's also pretty easy to get to negative thousands (e.g. due to a mistake) and survive as long as you don't instaexplode. Rebels are piss easy to beat, as long as you have access to some resources (e.g. due to stockpiles that you had just mismanaged for one tick somehow, or friends or alliance members bailing you out) you can get to like -4000, spawn a zillion rebels, then eat a thousand pies and make a few cavalry to wipe out the rebels and be good as new.

If all przs are colluding to price-fix, that doesn't mean that there are no parts being manufactured. You're just letting them price-fix.
And in the long run there's only so much demand for part manufacturing capacity, and not enough to justify feeding 5(!) przs out of ~20 players. Not unless everyone fractures into exactly 5 different tiny alliances and insists on only sourcing parts domestically.

You need more burros than any other nation. As a rough estimate, an end-game burro can feed around two nations - and they have to feed themselves, so you end up with something like nearly half of all nations needing to be burro. Bit less if you underbuild, more if you wanna max out all your nations.

So a single burro is definitely nowhere near enough to feed 2-3 other end-game nations.

An idea would be that having a standing army (instead of just whipping up a trillion in one day) gives a morale boost to nations.

Likewise, cooking up too big an army in too short a time gives an according debuff.

Could be biased so you have more army morale benefits as a free trade nation rather than state controlled.
Could even make it so each barrack ups your non-conscripted standing army ceiling, so 10 barracks lets you have a thousand troops, all granting the morale/mood boost, but having only 1 barrack and a thousand troops is treated as having 100 standing armypones and 900 conscripts.
I feel this relatively minor (all things considered) change would heavily rework how armies behave and work, since you COULD levy a massive response army to a sudden invasion, but that wouldn't be sustainable, and raising a massive invasion force would be very expensive moodwise if you don't have the barracks to upkeep it. In that way, standing armies, while expensive, would be worth it, since yes, you're turning some amount of resources into army upkeep, but that upkeep is only once every 12h, instead of once every 2h, making it a more efficient, but not infinitely scaling, morale source.
There's also the ever constant suggestions of adding alliancewide projects that benefit all who participate and are stupidly expensive, like shared power networks so one nation can go hyperspecialized and literally just make power, for example.

I really don't think armies are the problem.

The biggest problems are the tendency for the market to collapse, and the difficulty new players have in balancing their nation, so we end up with a ton of very small nations who end up not being able to afford the rising cost of goods driven by the larger nations' growing needs not being supplied fully by the smaller nations.

Just get yourself to -50 sat (use the burn oil action), next tick rebels will spawn, next wartick since you have zero defense even a single rebel will kill your natin
Or if you have enough oil you can even get yourself to -5000 sat and die next tick without having to wait for a wartick, though at this stage in the game that's probably a bit costly

yes, because sat penalty from potentially running more than one DNA fac. can be countered with a variety of sat buildings that take various amounts of apples, so including those into calculations muddle the numbers something fierce.
