Fellas is it too late for a 24 year old graduate to enlist/train to be an EMS?
>>41029988AppleJackAmmo Specialist 89BVeteran4 Active 4 Inactive Doing okay really still trying to figure out my path in life in the meantime Ill just be doodling sweet precious pones
>>41030420>GraduateAre you a college grad? If so, what degree? If it is something like bio or pre-med and you stand a good shot of getting into med school, I think there are various programs among the branches that will pay for your med school in return for certain number of years of obligated service as a medical officer (doctor). If your degree is other, you may still qualify to enter as an officer, though perhaps not in a medically related job.If thinking about entering as an officer, seek out an officer recruiter, not an enlisted recruiter. Can't tell you how many enlisted I've met who have college degrees who were tricked into entering as enlisted (when they could have entered as officers) by unscrupulous recruiters. Don't forget that enlisted recruiters often can win bonuses based on how many people they sign up.>EnlistingNo, it's not too late. Just be advised about becoming a corpsman in the Navy, though. Last I checked, the promotion rates were low because the community is over-saturated. However, since the Navy started having retention problems that may have changed. Not sure what it's like on the other branches.
>>41029988>Pinkie Pie>Civil Affairs >Veteran >6 yearsWondering where to go in my life and what to do. I could either join the police department near me and receive 80k a year and benefits or risk everything and go for my dream job of being a pilot but go 100k in debt.
>>41029988>dashie>electronics tech>active>1 yearlooking forward to being in japan for 4 years, my ship's old as fuck (blue ridge) but I've heard pretty good things about it despite that. also gonna be hitting all those cafes and hitting on all the cute asain boys/girls i see :3
but why would you servesurely you don't trust in the oil barons, heroin kingpins, and Zio-Christian apocalypse-mongers, right?
>>41029988I’m technically a military bro but I only served 6 months so I don’t count.
>>41031436The universal, primal pride of serving your country transcends the current regime. I respect all servicemen at all times, whether they be Germans in the 1940s or Israelis in the 2020s. Also, you’re assuming all servicemen are American, when your critiques really only apply to the US military. And in some places like Finland, service is compulsory.
>>41029988not military whatsoever but goddamn does that zeeb look good in camo pants
>>41031460I suppose you're right that I assumed it was US military. Regardless, in the current world, I really don't believe in just warfare. At best, I would go because I have nothing else of value to live for and my career will never begin unless I sign a deal with the great satan. Those are all material and selfish reasons to go, but that's all I can think of.There was a time when most wars were fought because of an actual threat to the sovereignty of a country or its people. But now it's almost exclusively over territory disputes and political ideologies. I just don't have any faith in any military system. It's alien to me.
>>41029988>applejack>none, only job was data entry in a warehouse handling e-waste >fuck zogbots >I don’t want to get turned into mince meat >I’m ok, being autistic about gregtech CEu and watching inheritance machiningbut seriously fuck zogbots, my friends getting himself enlisted to chase his deploying girlfriend and lord forbid if that relationship doesn’t work out that he actually gets out of the military and hopefully learns his lesson. I was gonna tell him (which I sort of already did) but I think it’s better for him to learn on his own but yeah the military treated my uncle in law like shit regarding experimental malarial “vaccines” and health issues from having it forced on him and other people in his unit which resulted in a lawsuit that he fortunately won though I’m pretty sure that the lawyers and legal fees ate a large chunk of the damages paid
>>41029988Moon DancerNavy (ret) 20 yrsCurrently working a comfy tech job. Challenging, but not demanding.
>>41031460>The universal, primal pride of serving your country transcends the current regime.Speak for yourself. I wouldn't join to 'defend' my shithole of a country even if Satan himself were to knock on our door.
I feel a bit bad for being the first non-military post in the thread now that the thread's getting...traction. I know people have their reasons, I just...don't understand them. If it helps you guys find discipline and comradery I'm happy for you. Even if it's hard for me to be happy for others in general.
>>41031465>There was a time when most wars were fought because of an actual threat to the sovereignty of a country or its people. You must not know that much about history. All wars are fought for gain (land, treasure, influence, or whatever other kind of gain). All wars, always. It's just that those that do the gaining frame the war as an existential threat so the dumb masses will willingly go into the meat grinder. This is the way of all wars.
>>41031472I agree. Warfare, conquest, and imperialism had their purpose in a pre-industrial world. But nowadays, there is literally no logically or morally justifiable reason for going to war other than self-defense from an outright invasion. Humanity needs to take its training wheels off already.
>>41029996they offer A.I. majors now, do you think that might be worth? Sice AI nowadays is involved in almost everything. Better than programming I assume.
>>41031436Free college
>>41031530Couldn't have said it better. There's no way I'm gonna fight for my shithole country, the only thing I'd do is to my ass with it's flag. I never asked to be born here so I'm not gonna fight or "feel proud" for some imaginary lines on a map.
>>41029988Rainbow DashDenied from Air Force0, never served, did work for a small city gov though, that has very comfy.Going to community college for cybersecurity, probably going to graduate the end of this year. Might kill myself or start a family, it’s a toss up.

I was tired of books and I though being a GI Joe would be more fun.I could've been doing something more useful, but I'm happy I got in and lasted 2 years. At least is something in my bucket done, and I got to see some places in my country, and they were neato. Also, probably the only time I got to use a gun, but it was a good gun: the FAL.
