I think EQD is holding back the fandom at this point.
All the posts are just scheduled regular posts.
There are no reports from conventions. There is barely any announcement for upcoming ones.
Only a few fan animations/pmv gets posted. Just in my yt subscriptions about 3-5 lands daily, out of which about one every day or two would worth a single blogpost, and maybe half of them a compilation type one (where 3 or more is linked).
Barely any music gets posted, only a few big names and that's it. Again in my yt subscriptions about 5-10 lands daily. Okay most of them are not single post worthy, but a compilation post would be fine.
Fanfiction gets one every 3 to 4 days, I think this is fine. But I doubt Seth reads any of them, he just finds a random one and posts it.
Games? None.
Other events (like game jam)? None.
Pages linked on the right side are outdated.
Interviews? Thing of the past.
Analysis? None.
Comics? Barely any. There are a lot of comics on deviantart which regularly gets updates and used to receive a post. Now only a very few gets posted, mostly just short single page ones or a selected few long running ones.
Fun posts? Maybe once every few months.

The whole site feels the posts were made by some automation on a schedule. Every other person besides Seth left. Cobalt's posts are again automated daily post category. It seems like the site is kept alive by force. The whole site feels like having an opinion on something is discouraged. Does not matter what it is. If it's not a positive, reinforcing kind of opinion, you are out. Even if you say "this was made with AI" (when it is blatantly obvious in drawfriend) you get shadow banned. Maybe it's just disqus, but still someone set the filter to it's highest setting.
A few months ago I started sending in stuff. About 80% of what I send in never makes it into a post. And I deliberately pick things which 10 years ago would have easily made into a post.
Sad that all other blogs died long ago. The only reason I visit EQD is for the drawfriend, because it sometimes contain stuff which is not yet made onto the boorus or I'm too lazy to go through all the newly posted ones on them daily.

So the question is, how can we make it better? Starting another one? Would definitely not work, at this point reaching critical mass is impossible (just look at mlpol/nhnb). Send more stuff in? Barely anything makes into posts. Apply as staff? Seth removed everyone.

It lost its relevance pretty quickly as the fandom's aggregator once each niche got its own dedicated website. Art went to Derpibooru. Fanfics went to Fimfiction. Music went to Eqbeats, then Pony.fm. Fans of each went off to their websites, so it tried to pivot to a "cream of the crop" thing where the curated best stuff would get aggregated, but the curators were shit at their job and people eventually realized they were still finding better stuff on each individual website, so why bother with EQD? It's just a useless middle man.
