Work on your singing, start by copying other people's timbre so you learn how to change your vowel shapes. Start with yarling and sing along to stp and pearl jam. You're singing through your nose and not in a good way like a country singer. Americans speak through their noses generally so it's to be expected but you should learn to resonate and where to feel the resonance. When you're singing at a higher pitch you should focus it at the top front of your mouth and push out through the diaphragm not the lungs and let yourself have some undertones in your chest.

A lot of people dislike these cause its when CBS bought them and they started doing poly finishes but I really like 70's style strats and teles with the natural finish. The vintage ones look can practically brand new cause the finish doesn't wear and it made boomers hate them

Maybe 35%. Mine is off-white blonde, so kind of translucent.
>>
>>121525908
Everyone knows this is true for acoustics but does it really apply to electrics? Seems like solid body guitars wouldn't need such a thin expertly applied expensive finish to let the guitar resonate.
>>
>>121525908
>>121525961
If you can feel your guitars wood grain through the finish its because they used a grain filler, not because they used poly instead of lacquer

>>
>>121527338
when will poorfags realize that having 1 great guitar is better than having a room full of various shitplanks?

like I can tell by looking at those spiccasters a single semitone move of the vibrato bar would throw the entire thing out of tune and make it unplayable.

at the end of the day though, they arent serious guitarists. they are probably just strumming nirvana songs through a 10 watt amp or 2005 macbook
>>
>>121527338
I paid $450 for the jazzmaster on craigslist back in like 2012. It goes for $1000 on reverb now. My next guitar will be one of those epiphone masterbilt archtops that I can abuse like this 00 parlour. I have zero interest in electric guitar anymore. I want to learn to play melody, chords, and bass like this and pick up a lot more voicings.
https://youtu.be/vpsIjFGkO_4?si=aHzx4t_rwBybmvAA

My current writing sounds like this. I want to get a lot more chord knowedge and get better at key changes. I'm to the point with diatonic that I add in the diminished to progressions with ease and have inversions and some borrowed chords.

Nevermind, an AI answered my question (I still hate the Antichrist)
>Fender Stealth String Retainer
>Prevent string buzz on your bass guitar with a genuine, easy-to-install Fender Stealth Bass String Retainer. This chrome-plated retainer increases the break angle from the tuning key to the nut, providing greater tension, a more secure fit and greater stability. The retainer also replaces the washer on the tuning machine for your B, E or A string, alleviating the need for additional mounting hardware.
>>
>>121527493
lol it has to be an additional string tree since it's on the a string
>fenders are so badly designed that their headstocks require correction in order to function
>>
>>121527548

Yeah, I know, I'm a CNC programmer.
>>
>>121527417
>and pick up a lot more voicings
so one thing that has been really taking my helping my studies has been the following workflow
1. make a really cool unusual chord voicing without thinking about the notes, just focus on how cool it sounds
2. learn the entire chord scale using that particular voicing
3. repeat over and over
4. notice symmetry (hey this chord is the same shape as this X, but if I play it in this context it actually is Y)
its hard to explain but the guitar itself will teach you if you let it.

I usually just learn songs and then play around the circle of fifths and let my hands go naturally based on what I want to hear next. Learning bossa nova and r&b songs gives context to the chords and where to do chromatic walks. This is another progression I made up although these words are made up on the spot. I mostly was thinking about ok here's the V here's how to come back to the I, here's where I can repeat or walk chromatics

I prefer the metal control plate on this one specific color but I agree it doesn’t look as great on nearly every other color they offer. And they should just offer matching options at this price point. It’s too much money to not get exactly what you want.

Totally agree with the new arm design. Glad I got one of the older models before they switched.

I’d say it’s the overall best guitar I own, although that Les Paul is up there for sure. The build quality is insane, zero issues with Gibson QC on that. But the Serus just plays so effortlessly, Fano is a genius when it comes to playable necks.

Should I get a Fano? Is it worth having a gay shaped guitar if the neck is really good? I currently have 2 teles, 1 strat, a vintage melody maker, a teisco vn2 27 inch baritone, a peavey generation tele, a yamaha revstar, a yamaha rgx, a red label yamaha fg75, a yamaha ll 16 (the acoustic vocaroos you heard). a squier vmjm, a squier classic vibe strat with prs style bridge installed, blender wiring and lace sensors, a mim p bass, a 5 string american jazz bass, an unknown year single pickup vox, a 1990s reissue yamaha sg, a yamaha pacifica 112, a carvin custom with kahler and two dimarzio super distortions set neck superstrat, a gibson sg gothic with moon inlay

he doest seem like a solid musician to me. Like he understands basic harmony but he can't execute in a live setting. It's hard to make $10k worth of equipment sound that bad. I can't in good faith call him a good guitarist, like even Rick Beato would stomp his shit in both in a real battle and a guitar battle - and guitar is just a means to an end for Rick

Tyler Larsen is the epitome of someone who had no real musical talent and compensated by being a fart sniffing tone snob

being a tone snob is fine, if you are a studio guitarist

honestly, always thought Chris Poland's solos for Megadeth were underwhelming.

After listening to Ohm and the New Yorkers, I realize Chris was never a good fit for Megadeth. Dude should have been playing for Chick Corea or Zappa or something. He is really fucking good

>>121529269
true, but my point stands. Until Tyler redeems himself on Little Wing I cannot respect him. It is like getting knocked out in a boxing match. He has to win the trilogy for me to respect him.
>>
beato and musiciswin are music school guys, they are pretty good at guitar man. they might not be to your taste, i know that video of musiciswin is embarrassing, but either one of those guys would cut you in a guitar battle and you know it
I'm pretty good but I would say both of those guys could cut me because i only know rock music, zero education in jazz/classical type shit
that being said, in that live scenario where musiciswin fucked up, i would have done better just playing simple shit, being taller than 6 foot and having played in a touring band for 11 years when i was young and knowing how to look good on stage

Yeah the metal control plate looks good with that finish. It blends in and doesn't get too busy.
It would get in the way of the one I'm saving for because the rest of the guitar would be very visually busy. Having the control plate the same as the pickguard would balance it out.
I basically want a Serus J version of the Suhr Jazzmaster on the bottom row. Mermaid sparkle, matching headstock, bound neck, pearl block inlays, white pickguard/plastics. But I'd also like TV Jones T-armonds as the pickups, which I'd also have to get myself since they don't offer any "off menu" items.
My Fano JM6 is back from when he was building them. It's my best playing and most versatile guitar (even if the neck is a bit slimmer than I normally prefer). I just play better when I use that guitar.
I've been a big fan of his work and eye for design. Would absolutely love to own a Novo too.

First pedal build. When the effect is engaged the signal is boosted, with a bit of overdrive. Could that be because of an error in the wiring, or is it intrinsic to the circuit?

>>121531947
I grew up loving Television and Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr and all those guys used Jazzmasters so I worked my butt off for a summer and bought an MIJ Jazzmaster. Then they became the hipster cool kid guitar and I hated being lumped into the same group of Jazzmaster guys who would get together at local jams so I traded it off for a Strat specifically because Strats are the most boring unassuming Fender guitar and because those gay hipster cool kids stopped thinking I was cool when I went to a Strat. Once offset body guitars like Jazzmasters and Jaguars became the de facto guitar for queer hipsters they died to me. It’s one thing to choose a guitar because YOU think it’s cool, but to choose a guitar so that other people think you’re cool is lame.

I wish Trogly would go down to Miami for a month and go through Yngwie's collection and document the different guitars and see if there's a story for each one. It's probably the case that he bought most of them just because he could and there isn't a story for each individual one but it would be cool to get a couple of videos of the highlights of his collection.

I count around 50 guitars in this pic alone though, it would be a bit of an undertaking especially if Trog documented the amps too.

he set it all up, went above and beyond, perfect action perfect everything all for free. i basically paid for the pickup (duncan distortion)
