Need your saddest sounding songs, emphasis on sounding. I know there are happy songs with very sad lyrics, ain't looking for that.

Last song he wrote before he killed himself.

Does this have the sound vibes you’re looking for?

For me, Lycia has the saddest sounding songs. They just feel very hopeless.

B e a utiful.

Not quite anon. Feels like a track I'd hear in a video game dungeon crawler. I do like the guitar going off at 3:40. Fucking really cool.
>>121543284
Gonna check it after this Joy Division song.

Hmm I'm not sure I agree. In fact it sounds kind of danceable. I do like it however.

Next when Bare by Lycia is over.

Heather Rhodes was beautiful. I never really checked out Carissa's Wierd, might be high time. The Duster track is kind of groovy. I think the commonality is that if a song is groovy it can never be truly too sad. There ARE groovy sad songs, but dancing and rhythm are inherently positive things, whereas melodies are not inherently positive and thus can always be sad if the composer wants them to be.

However Closer to the Speed of Sound is definitely moody. Quite enjoyed that. Especially those tones that begin at 2:41.

I enjoyed the lyrics very much so. Love the
>I promise I'll smile tomorrow
Because it implies it doesn't happen tomorrow, and he just keeps telling himself he'll smile tomorrow.
>>
https://youtu.be/9ur5si61oV0?si=wEHNsUb3R90uvNXw

the album in general is really melancholic
>>
>>121543303
lol fair enough, I care more about the atmosphere of the songs I guess. I’m not sure if this one fits your definition of sad, but it has made me cry so many times late night.

Damn I haven't heard something like this in years. Very lovely, just a burst of nostalgia. Thanks.
>Maine, New Hampshire, Utah
Yeah that'll definitely produce this sort of sound. Something about those parts of the United States.

This is another beauty. And I absolutely love that cover, holy shit. Downloaded the album.

Atmosphere definitely counts. Brian Eno making sad music? Looking forward to that when this is done.

Hmmm, I'd love to have a drink with you anon or something because I don't think this is sad at all. It's very beautiful with a tinge of melancholy, but not overtly sad. Then again you must have memories or something associated with it that mean much to you.

>>121543654
Echo's Answer was very interesting. It gave me 2000s vibes, and lo and behold it was released in 2000. Quite enjoyed that.
>>
>>121543654
Skin was a little strange, I'll have to digest that more. Not sure how much I enjoyed the guy's voice.
>>
>>121543541
I'm not sure about that sparkling noise that keeps playing. Without that I think this would be really great.

Bladee’s not easy to get into and he’s trash to most people, but to me he’s very special. At least you liked Broadcast’s song lol.
https://youtu.be/aMTOAKNJqpA?si=lqcUWwTG52UmTQRX
Again, this might feel groovy to you, but I find it very sad. I gotta sleep now, but I’ll come back tomorrow because this is a great thread, thank you for making /mu/ a little better.

>At least you liked Broadcast’s song lol.
Liked it a LOT with repeat listens. Downloaded the album.
>Again, this might feel groovy to you, but I find it very sad
To be clear, I don't mind a little groove, it's just as I said earlier: groovy songs absolutely can be sad, angsty, just not as sad as something that only focuses on melody. I wish I had some examples but I don't right now.
>Do Your Best
That was nice. The album cover is sick as fuck. I think the saddest part is that the majority of people don't reach out to lonely people, especially in the damn city.
>but I’ll come back tomorrow because this is a great thread, thank you for making /mu/ a little better.
I'll be very busy tomorrow but maybe I'll remake the thread sometime this week. Thanks for saying so. I just love sad music, I love that somebody can live a life with all the experiences they have and decide one day
>I'm going to make something fucking sad
And it's going to be completely unique to a sad song somebody else made. The subjects are the same: heartbreak, loneliness, death, but the manner in which the artist chooses to deliver that subject/message to the listener is infinitely diverse in the most interesting ways.
