Their first album had some good tunes
They’ve been coasting ever since

AVD is a 10/10 though
>>
>>121565647
Justice is really good filter for electronic music listeners. Cross is amazing, but it's far from the best of justice.
>>
>>121566308
AVD and Woman are great
>>
>>121565647
Their last albums are most enjoyable live
>>
>>121567920
>>121567083
I dunno, Horsepower was a great start but the singing songs are boring…
I left the tab open, I’ll give it another shot

>>121567727
What would you say is their best then
>>
the first half of hyperdrama is some of the most kino shit they've put out since cross

if you don't enjoy neverender or afterimage or mannequin love i dont know what to tell you
>>
Explorer could easily be a part of giallo soundtrack. Cool evolution from Phantom.
>>
>>121570164
the first half is definitely better than the second.

>if you don't enjoy neverender or afterimage or mannequin love i dont know what to tell you

here's the thing. I think those songs are quite good songs individually. But in an album context I think electro songs that sounds like Generator should've taken up more space. Only Generator and Incognito are what I consider heavy bangers. The rest are just good slowburns. Also I want to point out that Dear Alan is such a let down for me being a fan of Alan Braxe and his era of french house. The main loop is just a glorified elevator music, a main menu music on wii game produced by Justice. No emotion whatsoever that is akin to the masterclass of "Intro". Also is it just me or the opening track being Neverender feels awkward? Like why not start with Generator. Neverender is a good song but it sounds like a deep cut of the record when you've become mellow. Weird choice.
>>
>>121570736
There's some extra shit going on in the live version that really makes Neverender. As is, the studio version is definitely limp and a strange way to start a pretty cool album. I just wish there was one more club heater to round out the album.
>>
>>121568031
bro if you dont like New Lands i dont know what to tell you
>>
>>121565647
NEVERENDER IS THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM ANON
>>
>>121565647
It's better than Gamma by Gesaffelstein at least. The issue I have is that these guys can take 8 years to make a new album, and they can't even produce an hour of new material. Planisphere was made the year after Cross released for a Dior Homme fashion show and is nearly 18-minutes. Gesaffelstein's latest album, not EP - he says it's an album, is his first in 5 years and only 27-minutes!

Alan is Alan Parsons you goofball.

>>121568031
>I dunno, Horsepower was a great start but the singing songs are boring…

It's weird how many people love Horsepower. It's cool as an album opener, but it's one of the weakest tracks. Civilization, Ohio, Cannon, OnNOn, New Lands, Helix, AVD and Presence are all excellent.

As for Hyperdrama, I think they released too many singles and it's warping our perception of the album. The only loser is Muscle Memory, everything else rules ass.

No way, AVD was a huge let-down after the energy and hype of Cross and A Cross the Universe. I would even argue that Woman is better than AVD.

AVD is better than Woman. Woman's mixing is worse than AVD, and the songs are sloggy and lifeless. All the "revamped" versions that made it into WWW were better.

I think I'm more enamoured with the production and engineering on the last 3 albums rather than the songs themselves. Nevertheless fun listening.
>>
>>121565647
I do think the first half until Incognito is pretty strong, although I enjoy The End as well
I feel it needs another Generator at the end though
Plus I feel the percussion on this album is kinda weak
>>
>>121571222
Yeah seriously ive always wondered why the French take like a decade to make an album
>>
First album was good because they didn't care, experimented, tried different things. Then they got famous and felt they need to deliver perfection. That's whan creativness gets lost. Same with new album. It's ok but not great. Or maybe I just grew out of French House
>>
>>121579314
Same with Sophie and PC Music. I'd take a bunch of private school autists fucking around with logic vsts over "perfect pop" any day.

I think it's because after they become "famous" for their first album or whatever and start hanging out with other "famous musicians" they start sniffing their own farts a bit too much and think their next album "needs to be a masterpiece" and procrastinate way too much. Gesaffelstein first album when hardly anybody had heard of him was 58 minutes long, and his most recent album now that he's signed to Columbia Records and hanging out with the likes of The Weeknd is only 27 minutes long. Look at how Daft Punk split in 2021 but hadn't released anything in nearly a decade prior, they could have toured for "Alive 2017" at least.

Yeah I thought Muscle Memory was going to be the one last hurrah. I think the current version of the song and album are great, but it's lacking one more club heater in the second half to truly timeless record. The live album will certainly fill that void, but we've got a year or two wait for it.

It's on repeat since yesterday evening for me.
Neverender, Mannequin Love and The End are all great.
The cosmic turn on the second half surprised me but only Justice can go that direction after 8 years of making us wait.
Coachella set was nice and I'm excited to see them live in December. I can only hope regular live will be longer than festival live since I think they missed a few tracks to achieve kino status in Coachella.

They've always liked pop music, go look at their old interviews and you'll see them say it's their favorite genre, also a lot of their remixes over the years have been of pop bands.
