I've been listening to this album off and on since 2017 and it hasn't clicked yet. what am I missing?
>>121574433>what am I missing?a soul
>>121574465probably but that doesn't answer my question

>>121574433>what am I missing?nothing

>>121574473I value my ability to hear
>>121574482k thx
If you don't get an album after seven years, give up motherfucker. It's not for you
>>121574505That'd be the mature thing to do, yes
>>121574433you don't have to like it
>>121574786all i want to know is what's creative and unique about it that's all
>>121574433Why are you still listening to it then, you retard?

Two more weeks
try listening to Blue Rev and then listening to it; Alvvays gets a lot of influence on that record directly from MBV but it's more poppy
>>121576040will do, thanks for the rec
>>121574433maybe you just don't like album?
>>121574433It gives millennials recollections of their childhood when MTV played some pop song and mom was vacuuming at the same time.
>>121574819i think you might be stupid if you cant tell whats you creative and unique about it. it took a few listens to click with me but even before then it was still extremely obvious what was creative and unique about it.
>>121574471It had a lot of time and money spent on it, so people like to think it's great. I mean, it is pretty awesome but definitely not the "greatest album of all time" or anything like that... Oh wait, it totally is
I fried my brain listening to avantegrade jazz with crazy harmony and now my bloody valentine sounds "basic" ahahaI'm going to be a snob and say the chord progressions they use are simple and poppy. If this is "peak music" then /mu/'s taste in music is dogshit literally any high schooler can make music like this.
>>121577459you've fallen into the sophomoric jazz trap bud. there's nothing intrinsically special about tritone substitutions, free jazz, or half diminished 13 chords, atonality, twelve tone music, etc, that can't be special about 'pop' 'rock' 'country'i used to think just like you but i don't think it's right anymore. high schoolers might be able to play the chords but they don't usually make a cohesive musical statement in that way
