>>

>what am I missing?

>>
>>121574465

>>

If you don't get an album after seven years, give up motherfucker. It's not for you
>>
>>121574505
That'd be the mature thing to do, yes
>>
>>121574433
you don't have to like it
>>
>>121574786
all i want to know is what's creative and unique about it that's all
>>
>>121574433
Why are you still listening to it then, you retard?
>>
>>121575215

try listening to Blue Rev and then listening to it; Alvvays gets a lot of influence on that record directly from MBV but it's more poppy
>>
>>121576040
will do, thanks for the rec
>>
>>121574433
maybe you just don't like album?
>>
>>121574433
It gives millennials recollections of their childhood when MTV played some pop song and mom was vacuuming at the same time.
>>
>>121574819
i think you might be stupid if you cant tell whats you creative and unique about it. it took a few listens to click with me but even before then it was still extremely obvious what was creative and unique about it.
>>
>>121574471
It had a lot of time and money spent on it, so people like to think it's great. I mean, it is pretty awesome but definitely not the "greatest album of all time" or anything like that... Oh wait, it totally is
>>
I fried my brain listening to avantegrade jazz with crazy harmony and now my bloody valentine sounds "basic" ahaha
I'm going to be a snob and say the chord progressions they use are simple and poppy. If this is "peak music" then /mu/'s taste in music is dogshit
literally any high schooler can make music like this.
>>
>>121577459
you've fallen into the sophomoric jazz trap bud. there's nothing intrinsically special about tritone substitutions, free jazz, or half diminished 13 chords, atonality, twelve tone music, etc, that can't be special about 'pop' 'rock' 'country'
i used to think just like you but i don't think it's right anymore. high schoolers might be able to play the chords but they don't usually make a cohesive musical statement in that way
