Further proof that Daddy Nike is the GOAT.
>>
>>121776488
Less of that, more that new users on the site are afraid of disliking anything popular. 10 years ago most users' ratings looked like bell curves, now if you look at recent ratings most new users' curves are heavily skewed towards 4-5 star ratings.

It's also because rap is niche in that people who don't like it just won't listen to it. So you end up with devoted rap fans rating every new rap single 5 stars while people who dislike it don't rate it at all because they never listened to it. Metal used to be the same - there would always be 3-4 metal albums in the top 10 for each year - but the metal fanbase was never as big as the rap fanbase is now.

>>
Not Like Us is obviously the better song but of course Kendricksissies have to jerk off another mr Reddit snoozefest HE DID LE SILLY VOICE
>>
>>121776488
Zoomers literally, and I mean this sincerely, look for artists who have RYM accounts and will rate their new releases 5 stars so that it shoots up into the chart for a few weeks. They even coordinate this through discords sometimes.
>>
>>121776417
Sinnerman is actually a good song, the controversy is over how the single version is super obscure and no one actually has heard it.
>>
>>121779355
yeah the tranny era lasted like a 1yr or so, now it's the zoomer brainrot era. Glad they got bladee to the top tho
>>
>>121776417
Sinnerman as a song is a very reasonable #1 that shit is gold. Its issue is the supposed single it's from not only splits the song in half, but it's questionable if it's even an officially released single
This is just cattle getting hyped over their celebrity having a culture war with another rapper and choosing a song that boils down to "he's a pedo" will age terribly as a top selection
>>
>>121779835
do they do this for lesser artists or just mainstream trash? cause I've only seen actual decent niche stuff only in the first 2 months of the year, afterwards it get swamped by radio or well known shit.
>>
>IT'S LE SCARY AND VICIOUS!
Do zoomoids really?
>>
>>121779912
It's a little bit of both. Even then, they do tend to over/under-rate things regardless of popularity and when I first joined I myself was guilt of this.
>>
Just clicking on a random profile that gave it 5 stars will have a they/them more often than not. Trannies were a mistake.
>>
>>121779993
Just clicked on the first 5 accounts with 5-star ratings and they all said male
>>
Sigh, this board is so irony poisoned. None of Kendrick's songs have any replay power. It barely has play power because it's off-beat experimental pitchfork slop.
>>
>>121779775
you get banned from rym if you rate anything kendrick related lower than a 4

Legitimately, people are scared to rate it lower than a 2.5

Awful message. The west has truly fallen.
>>
>>121779944
rym algo takes into account lots of stuff like your vote distribution, how many votes you've got, how many reviews you've got etc so it really doesn't matter desu (atleast when it comes to under-rating stuff). ofc legit accs with like tons of organic votes n reviews can easily boost or absolutely shit on early releases scores, kinda lame.
>>
>>121778717
you did while mutilating

>>
>>121777012
It’s less ‘rate this song 1-5’ and more ‘how much do you hate Drake on a 1-5 scale?’
>>
>>121775984
I think they need to change the amount of required ratings for a track/album to be placed highly in their rankings. This would counter the recency bias more effectively. It's clearly not working for now.

While I'm pissed about Kendrick dominating RYM charts over some absolute classics, I'm also pissed about the reasons Kendrick is dominating RYM charts. First TPAB took over GKMC and now Meet the Grahams over Not Like Us? Are they just rating the lyrics and ignoring the music or what?
>>
>>121785847
Kendickriders see him as le jesus of hip hop and any time he gasses himself up they lose their minds. Normies are just bumping Not Like Us because its good and catchy they dgaf about any of this nerd shit really
>>
>>121784348
Meet the Grahams will have the highest amount of ratings out of any single by the end of this week. Zoomers are terminally online and their lives revolve around social media drama.
For what it's worth, RYM's singles/EPs charts are fucked because music distribution has changed so much in the past decades, which is why I don't mind recent singles topping the charts. I'd rather find decent tracks that never made their way to an actual album (e.g. Good Days, My Rasjhnjshsnjnees) than the twelve different combinations of Beach Boys tracks from Pet Sounds.
>>
>>121786032
They should maybe introduce a system where the ratings made longer after a single's/album's release have more weight when it comes to the ranking placement? After all, the mark of a classic is that its quality stands the test of time. It would of course cause its own set of problems, depending on the specific algorithm used, but the recency bias as it stands is fucking ridiculous.
>>
>>121786097
They've got to have some in already. I've been using RYM for a long-ass time and the community's recency bias has barely been visible in their all-time charts (MBDTF, GKMC, TPAB). Considering the whole Kanye-situation, nobody but Kendrick has both the mainstream appeal and the critics' appreciation for this."Improving" the whole system because of an artist that majority of the userbase loves gets too highly rated seems like a dumb fucking move if you want to keep your users.
>>
>>121779912
I think that "A Lonely Sinner" by samlrc was pushed that way, it suddenly had like 20 listeners despite only having like 10 ratings when it released
You can easily abuse that one chart if you ask 10 guys to "listen" to your album and to keep it for a while
>>
>>121786240
I just think it's dumb for a supposedly serious website to display a diss track of one manchild shitting on another manchild as the peak of creative accomplishment in the entire history of the medium. If a lot of time passes, and people still hold it in extremely high regard, then fine. But dumbfucks soing out about something on release seems like a bad metric to go by, when deciding what track such a supposedly important spot should go to.
>>
>>121786308
>supposedly serious
RYM charts have been awful for ages dude
if you try to use the yearly charts to find good music you'll get nothing but mid
>>
>>121786308
I agree the track doesn’t deserve the spot, but… While RYM does its best at being serious (and let’s be honest, it does a good job – look at the clusterfuck that is AOTY), it’s still a social media website that can’t be much better than its userbase. Constantly changing the algorithm to fight against your users opinions would look just as stupid as having Meet the Grahams at #1 for a few weeks. Sure, it’ll stay in the top 100, but it won’t be #1 forever.

Zoomers are balding and aging at a quicker rate than Millennials. All they have is their youth and once thats up everyone will realize what a wet fart that generation was. There will be no zoomer authors, no zoomer painters, not even zoomer managers. People say that every generation is worst than the last but it's never true. Zoomers are the exception that proves the rule.

>I'm pretty sure ratings do deweight after time

Users who haven't logged in for years have less influence on the overall score. That's why a lot of dad rock and similar stuff is going down in the overall charts. The charts are supposed to represent the taste of the current user base, not the taste of people who don't use the site anymore.
>>
I'm so tired of black people
>>
Based BBL Drizzy 6th on the best singles list for this year

Paying attention to meaningless RYM scores is so pathetic.
