>>121780223theres not really any 'should'however i would recommend as a goal this: first recognize that a lot of songs are really at a mid to somewhat slow tempo, then at that tempo be able to knock out 16ths with the bass drum and to do like RBB bonham style triplets and full triplets. ten you can pretty much do anything and just work on getting to higher tempos. my 2 cents

>>121780410honestly i think a lot of it is just training your muscles.theres lots of weird dudes that do weird floating tapping stuff using multiple parts of their foot and bounces. i dont know about all those magic tricks.i play heel down and feel the triplet as two parts, basically a hit and double. i try to feel like im doing a bounce to stay loose and conserve energy, its like a bounce but continuing forward through it, not rebounding. but thats just me.

Not just the drums, what is the vocalist doing, not WhAt RudiMENTS UGHhhGhhGh, the guitar, not OOH A FILL, the bassist, so basically the WHOLE BAND, not oneself. We should fit others' playing nicely and keep time for the vocalist (lord knows they usually need it). Our job as (late and great) Jeff Porcaro put, is to keep time first, and fit the groove second. Nothing Else.
