>>122564739I listened to four of the above tracks posted, and overall it cements my impression that every riff is rooted in D, usually to a static tempo, and usually without any strong contrast between riffs. "Impaled By the Cryptic Horns..." was the worst of these, with the Popeye croak being traded for Mr. Magoo vocals. However the drums added some interesting flair, and the riff at 1:40 was good. "Hymn for a Dead Star" is the best one I heard. The transition at 1:13 and following riffs were very good. "Crepuscular Battle Hymn" had some fun riffs, including the big dumb metal gallop section which I liked. However I absolutely loathe their pinch harmonic riffs, it sounds like Zakk Wylde was in the studio. "Embraced by the Unholy Powers..." sounded the most like Immortal. This song also had more distinct "A" and "B" sections playing off each other. I did note that this band generally likes to do this mid-paced, root-and-third comping which honestly recalls rock 'n' roll more than it does black metal.
