The last core threads though revived my enthusiasm for skramz I've not checked out before though, and while I'm not blasting it right now I've been blasting a lot of Trainwreck.

There's every chance if you posted them before then you're where I got the rec from.
/core/ also gave me Penknifelovelife which is very "zomg 2000s scenecore epic!!!" vibes but every now and then I love that "overly emotional 13 year old's diary"-core if I'm in the right mood for it. Also got Beau Navire and Frail Body at around the same time and it was all fun.

Basically went through an early 20s age period of checking out metal and skramz, slowly dropped out of screamo other than rarely, and now I'm re-hooked.
>>
What makes something metalcore?
>>
>>122700479
The only screamo I still listen to nowadays is Jeromes Dream and Yaphet Kotto

A lot of the new stuff that pops up has this brocore production that I dont really like, or its mixed with shoegaze or metal and I like my screamo pure. I don't really keep up with new releases anymore tho to be fair

Here's some more modern stuff that I like

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSafOCKGDgM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBMgvVCyq1M
>>
>>122700579
I don't mind some screamo blended with gaze/metal, especially metal, but it needs to be done decently sure. I quite like it when it's gazey or a bit more post-hardcore leaning so there's quiet sombre moments in between them going apeshit, something like Suffocate For Fuck Sake.
https://youtu.be/knm7SzqxtjY?si=7q4cG9cdhQc4tcw-

The most modern thing I checked out was Loma Prieta - Last and it was just "fine".
>>
>>122700567
Combining metal with hardcore. However, that can mean vastly different sounds. Integrity sounds nothing like Converge, or Norma Jean. It's vague umbrella term that only makes sense if you're specifying the type of bands you're talking about.

Not really my thing. I've yet to hear screamo mixed with black metal or post-metal that I like. Stuff like Respire is everything I hate about modern skramz. But I get why it's popular and it makes sense that it's getting mixed with other genres.
>>
>>122700734
Habak is probably the best neocrust band of the last decade. I'm from Mexico and I've seen them live. I think I like their first EP more tho tbf. The split with Fractal is also really good. They've been blowing up in the states they're always touring there.

That kind of quirky post-hardcore is sometimes called sass or sasscore. I don't really have any recs 'cause I don't listen to it aside from old shit like Antioch Arrow but they're a lot more subdued than what you posted and a lot more noise-rock oriented

other way around, light bearer is ex members of fall of efrafa

which light bearer songs do you like?
>>
Howdy 4chins. I tend to like stuff like in OP, but I’ve been listening to this. Huge “slept hard” moment, this is sick.
>>
>>122713715
My bad.
The main ones I remember are the title track from Silver Tongue and Primum Movens from Lapsus.
The rest just tends to really draaaaaag for me and not really go anywhere or have the memorable moments those tracks do. Silver Tongue in particular is constantly building and building and has a satisfying ending.
>>
>>122713773
Is the only Fall of Efrafa album you listened to Inlé? I agree that one drags way too much, check out Owsla

Yeah it is all I've tried. I'll give it a go but all the people in those 2 projects tend to just really meander about more than I'd like, and what I've tried from both projects is usually filled with filler for me and leave me kinda zoning out. Like an atmospheric album that just has one sound for 5-10 minutes longer than it needs each time before spicing it up.
>>
>>122713846
Owsla isnt really an atmospheric album at all, leans way heavier on the crust/d-beat elements
>>
>>122713868
Sounds more up my alley. I love atmospheric albums but they're difficult to do well IMO, all too easy to become a boring "nothing" album. Something that varies up the atmosphere with a bit of aggro every now and then can really help, or just aggro with a bit of atmosphere or whatever.
It's free on bandcamp so I'll give it a blast after I'm done with my current blasts, ta lad.

There's a cool crust scene (and punk in general) in latin america but I don't think there's more output than europe or america tbf. And I'm from Mexico.

It didn't steal my heart or anything but it was only a first listen. I liked the fact the 10+ minute tracks actually had a good few "sections" going on to keep it fresh rather than dragging their heels on one thing for ages. Will definitely spin it again.

I like deathcore, including some questionable stuff, but it's not very good.
The vocals are widely regarded as terrible and it's not an unfair summary, the songwriting is pretty poor, and the drumming is some of the least interesting shit Flo has done (which is impressive given his recent material).

It's arguably overhated, but still not good. The only time it resembles something listenable is when it's not really deathcore at all and it's still not great.

So as someone who really likes both Cryptopsy and shitty Deathcore, I still think it's incredibly mediocre bordering on offensively bad.

I've been obsessing over pic related a lot the past couple of weeks. These guys broke up, then randomly put this out a few years later, and broke up again shortly thereafter. It sounds like nothing else from this particular strain of melodic hardcore. The guitars are scuzzy, atmospheric, almost sludge-like, with riffs curling from bluesy hooks into more fast paced punk. The songwriting and chord progressions are great. Lyrically; devastating but still jubilant and reverent of life. I actually bounced off it hard on first listen ages back when it first came out, but something clicked on a revisit, and I've loved it ever since. The outstanding production definitely helps too, it sounds incredible.

so what do you guys think is the reason that The scene of the 00s is getting vindicated by zoomers? For some reason, emo seems to connect with them on apersonal level

I might've been only 15 yrs old, but fuck it was worth it "sneaking a run" there ! Fredericia Hardcore Festival opened a whole new world to me, that was dangerous and fucked up, truly.
