>>122700312https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hobZMMzcEQ
>>122700528There's every chance if you posted them before then you're where I got the rec from./core/ also gave me Penknifelovelife which is very "zomg 2000s scenecore epic!!!" vibes but every now and then I love that "overly emotional 13 year old's diary"-core if I'm in the right mood for it. Also got Beau Navire and Frail Body at around the same time and it was all fun.Basically went through an early 20s age period of checking out metal and skramz, slowly dropped out of screamo other than rarely, and now I'm re-hooked.
What makes something metalcore?
>>122700479The only screamo I still listen to nowadays is Jeromes Dream and Yaphet KottoA lot of the new stuff that pops up has this brocore production that I dont really like, or its mixed with shoegaze or metal and I like my screamo pure. I don't really keep up with new releases anymore tho to be fairHere's some more modern stuff that I likehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSafOCKGDgMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBMgvVCyq1M
>>122700579I don't mind some screamo blended with gaze/metal, especially metal, but it needs to be done decently sure. I quite like it when it's gazey or a bit more post-hardcore leaning so there's quiet sombre moments in between them going apeshit, something like Suffocate For Fuck Sake.https://youtu.be/knm7SzqxtjY?si=7q4cG9cdhQc4tcw-The most modern thing I checked out was Loma Prieta - Last and it was just "fine".
>>122700567Combining metal with hardcore. However, that can mean vastly different sounds. Integrity sounds nothing like Converge, or Norma Jean. It's vague umbrella term that only makes sense if you're specifying the type of bands you're talking about.
>>122700554>zomg 2000s scenecore epic!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4Q3_S3bwZ4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EDcqlHl-VA&t=59shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmdMNVyupMQ

>>122700718>>122700676there's also Habak if you like the more emo-crust aspecthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAyqhfp0W1k
>>122700718>>122700734All new recs to me. I'll add it to the list that's way too long already, but given someone mentioned there's a new Frail Body I didn't know about that's up next for me.It's weird getting recs from a general rather than just everyone calling each other fags or autistic spam.
>>122700670Not really my thing. I've yet to hear screamo mixed with black metal or post-metal that I like. Stuff like Respire is everything I hate about modern skramz. But I get why it's popular and it makes sense that it's getting mixed with other genres.
>>122700734Habak is probably the best neocrust band of the last decade. I'm from Mexico and I've seen them live. I think I like their first EP more tho tbf. The split with Fractal is also really good. They've been blowing up in the states they're always touring there.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6Q5KkXjeE8

Howdy 4chins. I tend to like stuff like in OP, but I’ve been listening to this. Huge “slept hard” moment, this is sick.
>>122713715My bad.The main ones I remember are the title track from Silver Tongue and Primum Movens from Lapsus. The rest just tends to really draaaaaag for me and not really go anywhere or have the memorable moments those tracks do. Silver Tongue in particular is constantly building and building and has a satisfying ending.
>>122713773Is the only Fall of Efrafa album you listened to Inlé? I agree that one drags way too much, check out Owsla
>>122713832Yeah it is all I've tried. I'll give it a go but all the people in those 2 projects tend to just really meander about more than I'd like, and what I've tried from both projects is usually filled with filler for me and leave me kinda zoning out. Like an atmospheric album that just has one sound for 5-10 minutes longer than it needs each time before spicing it up.
>>122713846Owsla isnt really an atmospheric album at all, leans way heavier on the crust/d-beat elements
>>122713868Sounds more up my alley. I love atmospheric albums but they're difficult to do well IMO, all too easy to become a boring "nothing" album. Something that varies up the atmosphere with a bit of aggro every now and then can really help, or just aggro with a bit of atmosphere or whatever. It's free on bandcamp so I'll give it a blast after I'm done with my current blasts, ta lad.

anyone itt have an opinion on Cryptopsy's The Unspoken King? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ2E-mHlR_4&list=PLF0yIDuA63HWwraYH-cToWAmYuhEiqbcn
>>122714470I like deathcore, including some questionable stuff, but it's not very good. The vocals are widely regarded as terrible and it's not an unfair summary, the songwriting is pretty poor, and the drumming is some of the least interesting shit Flo has done (which is impressive given his recent material). It's arguably overhated, but still not good. The only time it resembles something listenable is when it's not really deathcore at all and it's still not great. So as someone who really likes both Cryptopsy and shitty Deathcore, I still think it's incredibly mediocre bordering on offensively bad.

I've been obsessing over pic related a lot the past couple of weeks. These guys broke up, then randomly put this out a few years later, and broke up again shortly thereafter. It sounds like nothing else from this particular strain of melodic hardcore. The guitars are scuzzy, atmospheric, almost sludge-like, with riffs curling from bluesy hooks into more fast paced punk. The songwriting and chord progressions are great. Lyrically; devastating but still jubilant and reverent of life. I actually bounced off it hard on first listen ages back when it first came out, but something clicked on a revisit, and I've loved it ever since. The outstanding production definitely helps too, it sounds incredible.>>122723173Zao are honestly one of my favourite bands. >>122721011Downloaded this after this post and some of the quiet clean vocals sounded like a straight clone of Leiah.https://youtu.be/D9Vf7URKmYE?si=v-CNPLC6LUVGkpz0
anybody fucking with this? AOTY imohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_Xiy09nVUI&list=OLAK5uy_ly2JR_Gz2ZQ-CWdXgiir_B4VTb0VY3K88
Its been one year since Better Lovers dropped their EP. Went to one of the shows and talked to Jordan and he said the record would be out soon. WHERE IS IT JORDO
>>122725925Man that is a shit cover art.
>>122700312So glad this general is back. Can finally post about some of my favourite bands without hearing "not metal" from the metal general retards lol.
>>122702969Inspire the Liars goes skibidi fr fr>>122700317it's deathcore? it's good!>>122700079she's a pretty princess, but she was better in unicorn and iwabo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvD8y1IdYgs I fucking love songs like this
>>122700458Their last two LPs were some real good prog-death, idk man lol. They've improved tons since Doom in my opinion. I only really enjoyed some of Ruination prior to those last two.
>>122727156They’ve devolved since Doom, from core to metal
>>122722306shitI like OLC song about hating immigrants
>>122700510daesh skramz
>>122718714is this a band?
>>122700510
>>122700321I second this request, punky/hard hitting experimental post hardcore with pops of electronica
>>122725406man thats a blast from the pasti met a guy in bumfuck TN with a Suffocate for fuck sake shirt. cool guy
>>122727737>>122700321already posted once in this thread but maybe HORSE the band?
>>122727820>ordered a SFFS shirt recently in the same size I always get>way too smallOnly thing I'm suffocating on is cake, apparently.
What do we think of infected rain?
>>122727909i prefer Chocolate Rain
>>122727909Enslaved by a Dream and Orphan Soul are good
>>122700670Late, but I much prefer their debut album not really a fan of this newer blackgaze/post rock style
>>122700312Any METALPUNK man in?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v925cfN9nTY
>>122723173Still haven’t listened to this album, I should though
When this dies probably don’t make a new one. This should be like a weekly thing

>>122729624I only got into Zao 2 years ago but they're great. The whispery spoken word parts are sick, it sounds like Slint doing chuggy 90's metalcore.
>>122727870always get band shirts in a size up because you know they're cotton and theyre gonna shrink, and if you want to have them for years you gotta plan on them shrinking a lot. Plus big t-shirts are comfy
>>122723173Zao is one of my favorite bands. Got to see them last year and they killed it
>>122719548SUCK ME DOWN ITS TIME TO ROCK AND ROLL
AND WHAT'S LEFT OF ME A CAVITYAT LEAST THIS SPACE IS MINEIT'S WHERE YOU LEFT ME TO DIEI WISH MY BLOOD WOULDSLOW DOWNYOU CAN MAKE MY BLOOD RUSHSLOW DOWN
so what do you guys think is the reason that The scene of the 00s is getting vindicated by zoomers? For some reason, emo seems to connect with them on apersonal level
>>122736267Because unlike what the emos of the 00s claimed back then, zoomers actually don't have a future.
>>122736267i grew up with it, even if it seems outdated. if you lived in an area that wasn't super trendy, emo (and i mean mall emo stuff) was probably around for a long time. at around the time we were 10/11/12 it wasn't totally dead and there were still popular albums coming out.
>>122736267they grew up watching anime and a lot of anime OPs are just jrockified sceney post-hardore
>>122736548no joke I showed FCPREMIX to my 13 year old brother and he thought it was from an anime
>go to any At The Gates video on youtube>"duuuuude they INVENTED METALCORE!"It's been 20 years and metal people still don't know anything about anything.
>>122736267I don't really care if it means we get more scene girls.
Here's a bit of At The Gates worshiphttps://youtu.be/LNpnbq-HtF4https://youtu.be/xaebkgniMmYhttps://youtu.be/b4JQlgnpULI
Old Toronto Hardcore https://youtu.be/LbsvLcEcDOYhttps://youtu.be/jmQROQJ9VY8https://tohc83.bandcamp.com/album/various-artists-t-o-hardcore-83https://tohc83.bandcamp.com/album/youth-youth-youth-anthology
>>12273626700s deathcore melodeath also seems to have advocates
This is close enough to grind, right?
>>122726954PtH peaked with this album. Everything since has been really boring in my opinion
>>122741041Scurrilous had to grow on me, and Volition was good, but I genuinely can't recall a single track from Pacific Myth, and Palimpsest had like, 4-5 memorable ones. From The Sky was my personal favourite.I'm also a bit of a weirdo and prefer Kezia to Fortress lol. So take that with a grain of salt.
>>122700017Give me new good post-hardcore albums
when are Pianos Become The Teeth going to make good albums again
>>122741402Gillian Carter- Salvation through misery
>>122741803Never, they’ve decided to make boring music
>>122700059You would've died. Fuck man I remember going to shows in Denmark at FHF where there would be spin kicking at such a high pace it created smaller contractions in the clouds. Drinking "Home brew poulika" out of car trunks from crazy Romanian people there ! Mixing weed, speed and alcohol at such a high pace that "Kaospilot" and "As we fight" actually sounded like what it was ; White-noise. I might've been only 15 yrs old, but fuck it was worth it "sneaking a run" there ! Fredericia Hardcore Festival opened a whole new world to me, that was dangerous and fucked up, truly. But after that "Kaospilot" concert my life was goddamned changed foreverhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUgz3nCADfo
>>122702969i wish they disbanded after downtown battle mountain 2https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOzAK6_1pu4
>>122736712But they're right, 00's metalcore like killswitch engage, As I Lay Dying, etc. were directly influenced by the Gothenburg melodeath sound
>>122742628Metalcore didn’t start with that garbage though. Poison the Well has nothing to do with At the Gates
>>122742628it wasn't just SoTS. before then lots of melodic metalcore had the tremolo riffing stuff taken from dismember. stuff like undying feels way more influenced by dismember's first than atg actually, to me
>>122742665I don't really think of Undying when I think of mainstream 00's metalcore, which is what people compare to ATG.
>>122742783fair nuffit's weird how SoTS influence was so delayed on metalcore though, it took like half a decade for it to really be a big influence
>>122742807I'm shoddy on the entire history of how that went down nowadays, I'm pretty sure In Flames had a lot to do with it too.
>>122742218Each boring album has 1 or 2 good songs but that's the best cope I can muster.
Shout out to my moms bfs coworker at the pallet factory that blasts white chapel all day in his section of the warehouse
>>122744695>early whitechapelbased>anything after the third albumRefuse to interact with that fucking troglodyte.

>>122747559now turn that burp into a scream
This album is great.
>>122724054>>122724054Never heard this one, it's nice ty anon
Here's a picture of Basque playing at an art studio in my town
I didn't get any good pics of Anklebiter when I saw them, but their singer was wearing a Gamecube Sonic Adventure 2 shirt. Cool!
Deaf Club live at an abandoned yoga studio backnin February. Justin Pearson is still the fucking man. He also thought my Nomeansno shirt was cool.
Here's a shot of City of Caterpillar when they were tuning up for their set opening for Saetia in Chicago.
>>122736712I relistened to The Jester Race the other month and honestly, I feel like more bands ripped off In Flames than At the Gates. Especially Killswitch and As I Lay Dying.
is there anything good that is similar to thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeSI34TJpVY
>>122752663That's probably their best song, the rest of that EP(?) is just "alright". They're a decent band though.
rival mob were so fucking good
>>122754490Sick. I got one of Orchid in Brooklyn, one of the best shows I've ever been to
the peak of deathcore
