I don't give a fuck what you think of the album, picrel is proof that /mu/ is dead. An actual indie rock album that has gotten hype and traction not only from music writers but from actual important musicians
>Nick Cave
>Lorde
>Hayley Williams
>Billy Corgan
An album with this kind of sound that had managed to reach this far is irrefutable proof that /mu/ is dead. Something with this kind of buzz, during the time when /mu/ was alive, would have 9 of the worst threads you've ever seen at a time. This probably speaks deeper to how dead popular music has been, too, but especially /mu/. Any oldfags remember when Sunbather came out? There were 20 threads every twelve hours. Things were better before you got here, and I'm sorry you never got to experience that.
>>
>>128906081
fuck off paid shill
>>
>>128906091
You wish paid shills were still coming here for any other reason than to post slurs to distract from corporate interest stealing more of your money.
>>
Album is just so shit, -and the hype so obviously manufactured-, that no one with taste wants to talk about this shit. Even their covers are massive pieces of trash with no sense of aesthetics. SNL moment? Sus, very sus. Singer going from 10 people shows to stadiums in 3 years? Sus, very sus.
>>
>>128906098
exactly what a shill would say. i know your shift, i know your hours. you guys are not hiding
>>
>>128906081
The reason this site was 'better' back in the day is that most of us were teenagers with time on our hands to indulge our obsessions. We had the energy to spend hours here and the enthusiasm and the edge to make it fun. Now we're old and tired, most of the oldfags have left after the election tourists, and this place became a shell of what it used to be. So what? Things come to an end. Face it.

New York trust fund band
>>
>>128906142
i left for 8 months and came back and it’s worse, then took another 6 months off and it’s so much worse. the last couple years are a fast slide into pure shill zoomer retardation with the modt out of touch people. i figure it’s been left to random ass third worlders only and there’s like 12 steady posters from the old days. it’s over. i checked in again and this is even worse than last time. nothing redeeming at all. time to pack it up and stay away for good.
>>
>>128906142
Or maybe the album is just trash
>>
>>128906186
Unironically. I got my comment wiped from RYM just because I said "this band sucks and their covers are bad". Literal 1984 with these industry plants.
>>
>>128906208
because rym is part of a pr campaign package that gets you a fantano review and a million fake reviews and ratings. they have to guarantee you positivity when you buy the big time package. some artists do it for one album and vanish, think snail mail. it costs $50k for the smallest package.
>>
>>128906235
I would be inclined to believe this without proof, because of muh intuition. Their album gets like 500% the amount of comments every other album gets, and any negative comment gets instawiped or review bombed to shit in a few minutes. We might live in a dystopia.
>>
>>128906235
snail mail has a second album you fucking retard

>random ass third worlders
If you were around at the time of mutracker and /mu/tant radio you'd know that a lot of contributors were from Brazil, Argentina and Mexico
>>
>>128906268
i’m not making it up. i know a few artists who have looked at the firm that handles it. it’s always been like this. you pay to play. that’s how they gatekeep. you’re going to be in debt to the publisher from the jump. doing it now is way more obvious than the radio days with the rolling stone article. you pay for that stuff. same with film. oscar consideration is a pr form lobbying on your behalf when you pay them, or no dice.
>>
>>128906289
you fucking retard, she didn’t pay for the shill package on her second album. that’s was my point. that’s why it wasn’t mercilessly shilled
>>
a generational talent who's here to stay
>>
>>128906298
the point is that the ratio is higher. there’s less americans and brits here than there used to be, driving the discussion on new music. primarily it’s indian shills making coompop threads and talking to themselves for hours, then all at once stopping, then picking up again
>>
>>128906299
Sounds logical desu.

>>128906321
Generational hack. Bro sounds like a goat every time he opens that mouth.
>>
>>128906081
You're a shallow bitch. Hype/buzz doesn't mean shit, and this album is the perfect example of that. Even in its dead state, /mu/ talks way too much about this shit. It's not even worth attention. People release mediocre albums all the time.
>>
>>128906325
>indian shills making coompop threads
interesting "shilling" strategy, making coomer threads on 4chan
>>
>>128906359
it’s akin to ‘you have to raise x dollars to wuify for the debate stage with national tv buuuuut we’ll gladly take any amount of money if you want to run ads’ and thus they make debatr have more prestige, it’s like buying a fancy steak with your money. awards are effectively bought by lobbies. roles are cast that way often. it’s $$$ all the way. that’s the business. if you want to get no reviews and hook into some streaming from the algo or touring your ass off or maybe via video or just word of mouth, they’ll just steal your style and make a famous doppleganger of you if you ever start to get big, and hijack your success. or they’ll even just steal your whole career for one rihanna album phase / outfits. seen it happen many times to little brooklyn artists who get mini big and go meet their idol and legit have their style ripped and get nothing for it and end up looking bitter for trying to tell people what happened. it’s the most disgusting business. entertainment. sleazy vipers everywhere you turn. you basically have to be a sociopath or psycho to even want to be recognized and enslaved to the label debt system
>>
>>128906081
Retards on this board have made the term "industry plant" meaningless by using it for literally every artist but Geese is one of the most obvious examples, so I can see why contrarian-leaning 4channers would ignore this shit. That said you're right about this board being out of touch but I don't think it's the best example.
>>
>>128906081
>why aren’t you catching on and helping make threads to do the shilling for us like you used to? the captcha is filtering our bots. oh we’ll blame it on you
>>
>>128906081
I like Geese, but this was by far their weakest album imo. 100% agreed that /mu/ is absolutely, unquestionably fucking dead though. The vast majority of retards on here now are literal drooling, antisocial, weirdo /pol/fags babbling about conspiracies and finding excuses to be mad at every little meaningless thing. Feels like I'm at a fucking mental asylum when I read this shit.
And I remember when Sunbather came out, it was controversial but you didn't feel like you'd get screamed at and ganged up on if you liked it. There was definitely a healthy balance of differing viewpoints, and at least the anons shit talking it did so in a sane, and sometimes funny manner.
Seems like maybe only 10% of the users here now are optimistic about any new music in general, and an extremely vocal percentage exists just to attack them and shut down any possibility of worthwhile discussion.
>>
>>128906142

Behold: the redpill you cannot swallow

/mu/ has never been about genuine discussion of music, it has always been a zoo, obsessed with lowbrow pop culture and its "music". Ever since its launch. You have never in your life listened to good music. You don't understand what good music even means. /mu/ is made up of imbecilic masses no different from average mongrel at the club, difference is that you don't even touch grass. You're either that imbecile, or a victim of popsloppery and degenerate culture that worships garbage.

Geese's album is AOTY, but you can't say that on /mu/ because there are lot of paranoics who think a band can't be good if they're from NY, some of their parents were middle class and if RYM rates them high.
No, just can't be good, no good. Absolutely no good.
Complete morons. I can separate the social background from what is obviously good music. They forget that the Rolling Stones were also some art school fops from middle class families and yet you see so many here yapping about how good the Stones were. Or the Strokes.

3)Michael Cera Palin- We Could be Brave (Indie)
4)Hot Mulligan- The Sound a Body Makes When It's Still(Emo)

6) Perfume Genius - Glory(Indie)

9) Bad Bunny- Debi Tirar Más Fotos (Spanish)

>>
>>128906081
Tbf this is the closest we've gotten to the "old" /mu/ in years what with it being critically acclaimed indie rock that caused a lot of uproar. This thread getting tons of replies where they ignore your post to talk about how they hate this album proves that. You could argue poptimism killed the board but I remember people raving about Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen on here in 2012 and making fun of redditors that liked Queen and The Beatles. Ditto waifuism. I think the generals killed the flow quite a bit as everyone just stays in their lane. Also more people signing up to streaming services so less reason for sharethreads which is the biggest loss.

Its reasonable to assume a 30 year old whatever the fuck they are band fell off when they have two albums of bullshit already. You're the one in a thread about a band bitching they aren't thqt good, and yeah maybe this album isnt as good as 3D Country, takes a while to grow on you and has less good tracks but they're a talented young band and here you are doing exactly what you accuse everyone else of doing. Fuck you. Bad Bunny my ass you stupid fucking faggot. Anyway I'll get back to you on those albums you recommended in a while here.

It's not a paid shill, it's Cameron. He gets his zoomer balls cradled by Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, but he keeps coming back here begging for attention. He'd been doing it all summer, before the album even came out.

I guess he thinks we're the keepers of cool music and more capable of the kind of discourse he wants to hear about his own work. But he's just not getting it from us, so he keeps coming back to shill. The guy should be out using his clout, fucking prime pussy, but here he is.
>>
>>128910372
I agree they're a good band. As fans of the band we can agree this, despite being good, doesn't hold up to their previous releases. But its the most entry level to them. Geese's Getting Killed is Nirvana's Nevermind.
Solid albums that are actually the weakest of the rest of the band's discography but are more accessible to the public.
The albums I listed are albums that at least the band's evolved from themselves in comparison to their previous releases in that genre.
>>
>>128906081
It's not dead but /mu/ is full of miserable contrarians who get a kick out of putting down whatever gets high ratings on RYM, etc.
Even if the music is good, they just can't be caught saying they like anything that isn't obscure.

Last year they were probably yapping about how much they liked geese because nobody talked about them, so they could still be considered part of the sikrit club for /mu/sic connaisseurs
>>
It's a good record, but they're literal children. Give them a few years and a few more releases before you start calling it some magnum opus.

They aren't even old enough to have full absorbed their influences, so they sound like they're larping as a classic rock band. A step up from the last record, sure. But being a career band is about taking those small steps forward.

Time to log off, Cameron. Back to making music. It's a good album, but this isn't where you rest of your laurels. Seriously, though. Shilling is aids.
>>
>>128910114

First one showed some promise, second one showed more promise. But we're still waiting for the promise to be fulfilled. I can't wait for their next song

Truly a band revolutionary for their chutzpah
>>
My favorite track by them is probably "Our trustfund, your problem"

Yes. If I could kill you I would do it immediately.
>>
>4chan /mu/ is a dead board haha
>also were going to make sure we're constantly promoting our products while bad mouthing it on the website
>while using the website as intended to an audience of 40k-100k lurkers

>>128911376
So much money for pr and yet not a single advertisement
>>
I honestly never heard of these guys until /mu/ called them samefags but I really liked their song "My dad's rich fuck you" off the "the internets only dead if your pr spend is under $250k annual" ep.

>>128911310
Also a banger.
>>
I would go so far as to say if someone ever audited the financial history of this band as a product it wouldn't make sense nor be profitable but they're going to spam it anyway because there a hole in the market for rock music. So idk if they're on loans or trust fund kids. Or if they're working with a firm. I don't care that much either but I'm certain they have the capacity to afford an advertisement on 4chan.

There's no way they make a return from their pr/marketing costs though. Not a chance. This is an elaborate tax write off.
>>
There he goes, throwing his autistic tantrum that he will do for the remainder of the thread.
>>
>>128911467
Better hire more Indians
>>
>>128911472
>he says as he posts incomprehensible chatbot garbage, which he intends to do for the next 6 hours
How does this shitty anime website completely level some people this badly?
>>
The wassermans are faggots their son is legit tricking out some woman in her 40s unsuccessfully for stingy amounts (can't front a few hundred to her family) and now they expect me to really go along with this charade on here. The damned management of this slop.

I don't approve.
>>
>>128911484
I REALLY think you should pay for an advertisement for this band. But also all of the other artists under tbe same label umbrella. But mostly this band. No particular reason.
>>
>>128911488
>>128911500
This is why your life is in the state its in btw
>>
These motherfuckers management irl are the stingiest people I've ever had to deal with luckily from a distance. Actually stingy. The whole kin I've been exposed to all of them have one thing in common and that's they're a bit aloof and very stingy.

>>128911509
I'm just saying your fucking music sucks dick buddy don't take it so personally
>>
>>128906081
Kys you fucking hipster cunt.
>>
>>128906081
Do the vocals remind anyone else of Mick Jagger on Exile on Main St?
