He only flies it to a handful of ports and he has these painstaking routines and flight paths to ensure he is always within glide distance on a runway. OK, thats risk managing but the speed/efficiency gains are negated by all these detours and onerous circular/pattern climbs after takeoff.I think he has it for the cachet. Knowers look at him like some badass who isn’t afraid of anything. The reality of course is that he is deathly afraid of this plane and for very good reason.
