/vr/ here. I was playing GTA San Andreas and thought the interchanges were confusing. I then googled the actual LA interchanges, and they were even more complicated. Is this a common thing in America, or just LA? Is it as hard to navigate as it looks?
You just follow the GPS or the street signs like everywhere else in the world.
>>2050754No, you just follow the signs. Even some GPS systems now will tell you which lanes to be in.In that pic some of the ramps are essentially duplicates that were added in after the original construction for HOV/HOT use. If those were removed that interchange would look more like pic rel
>>2050756Huh. Interestingly, this is exactly how it looks in the game, it's set in 1992. Figures.
>>2050754It's not that complicated anon, just follow the signs. If you miss your turn off it's really just a matter of getting off the first exit and getting on the next onramp to your destination, a mild inconvenience, but also the worst-case-scenario.Also, I think you're overcomplicating this OP, if you're going straight on the I-105 then you don't need to do anything, same as if you're just going straight on the I-110. You're acting like you're always going to have to use the offramps.Stacked Interchanges are also a thing in Europe and many parts of East Asia as far as I'm aware so I'm wondering what third world land you must hail from where this concept is so alien to you
There hasn't been an interchange thread in too long
>>2051760There's been one hanging around for a few months...>>2044302
The Turbine Interchange in Tampa (I-75 and I-4). I have no idea the purpose of the little nub near the NB ramp from I-4 W, maybe it's a construction leftover.
>>2050754kTake a look at some of Houston's shit. A lot of their interchanges are stack style but there's sections where it's madness.I play Simcity 4 (with mods of course) from time to time but I was unleashing distilled autism in the game a few years ago and recreating Houston (I don't even live in TX btw) and I found out how crazy their highway system really is. Some of that shit I had to look closely at a map and draw the shit out on paper first just to determine what and where it goes. Picrel is I69 and where SH 288 begins. Plus there's another interchange a short distance up north. I think Houston is only rivalled by LA by how comprehensive and conplex it's interstate system is.
>>2052247Any time two highways intersect at odd angles, HOV lanes are present, or more than 2 routes are involved you'll get an unconventional design. Check out the Horseshoe in Dallas for example
>>2052247It just looks a little more complicated because of the extra ramps to the regular streets, it's a Y-shaped intersection at its heart.

>>2052421The absolute madman lol. And he got it done right before 9/11 paranoia kicked in
