Cyclists of /n/, do you wear a lot of loud obnoxious advertising logos on yourself when you ride?
no, the only bike-specific piece of clothing i wear are gloves because my hands get bad circulation and i don't get to hide my hands in pockets when cyclingyes, that does mean i might wear a suit together with bright yellow motocross gloves on occasion
>>2051742No, I wear an oversized t-shirt with a humorous print on the back over my armor.I don't wear any special cycling gear when I ride my gravel or any normal bikes.
>>2051742>sp instead of son this dude is an idiot
>>2051742I just wear jeans and a T-shirt.
>>2051742nah I wear spandex like pic related with very subdued branding, shit is comfy. or I'll wear a merino t-shirt and some giro touring shorts. don't get how people can stand being miserable in cotton shirts and jeans but that's their problem
Yes, I do wear boldly branded kit - but only if I have a direct personal connection to the business or organization. If a stranger asked me in the middle of a ride why I'm wearing something with 'x' printed on it I would happily tell them. The exception to that rule would be something like a Shimano -branded shoe or sock. I don't have any real connection to Shimano, but I'm a fan of their products, so I don't mind helping them advertise since I do want them to stay in business and keep on making nice things.
>>2051771Isn't she afraid of getting her nice perfect female skin all scuffed up if she crashes? That would be such a waste :(
>>2051768cottonbros are the worst. good shorts + merino t as you say is peak. i also like picrel or similar for sun protection
>>2051742Yes, the team sponsors makes the clothing free. So in a way I support the companies that support me.
>>2051787just save it for later
I mostly wear vintage jerseys from the 90s since they were cut longer back then and have actually nice colors schemes. Two if them have loud sponsoring on them but these companies propably don't exist anymore. I often get compliments from riders. Modern jerseys are shorter and come in stealth colors mostly which is kinda lame. Torm being a noteworthy exception.I like riding in jeans shorts, the jeans fabric is quite thick and that helps with comfort. However I regretted this on a 170k bike race recently and will look into padded undies next.>>2051744sweet
I only wear anime shit
>>2051748Is Schmitt and SON the same thing?
>>2053768Yes. SON stands for Schmidt Original Nabendynamo
>>2051742>Specialized Allez>press-fit bottom bracket
>>2053800a few years ago, like 2018-ish, some models of the Allez Sprint used BB30 but they would have used R7000 so yeah
>>2051742Yes. It's a contractual obligation. It also increases visibility slightly.
>>2051742Nah, helmet is the only thing with a logo and it's kind of cryptic.
>>2053800Yes I own one of these 2017 expert
>>2051742My bike is from Walmart and all my clothes are from thrift stores
WHat are some long dedicated cycling trousers that I can beat up and wash a ton, but wear casually in the city? I only really bike around in town, but am sick of getting holes in the thighs (from saddle friction) and chain smears on my actual good chinos and trousers.
>>2054175Wax your chain and get a leather saddle
>>2054178Doesn't matter how great the wax or saddle is, the quality of my favourite trousers is too good to use then to cycle 30 odd km every other day.
>>2054266They don't cycle 30km in amsterdam. This is NOT a race!
>>2054175A decade or so ago when everyone and their grindr roster was riding fixies and shit and bike commuting was the thing, a bunch of clothing makers tried making cycling-specific jeans and trousers that had features like gusseted crotches for reinforcement but it just delays the inevitable by a few months. Cycling just beats the fuck out of cotton, even cotton/polyster/lycra blends. Out of all the brands I tried (Rapha Keirins, Duer, Levi's, Swrve, Mission Studio, a few others), Mission was the best, but $300 was a fuckton to pay for jeans that weren't Dior Homme 19cm MiJ or some shit, and they blew out after a few months anyway. Yeah, you can repair them, but only once or twice. Eventually I started raiding thrift stores for women's jeans because they had stretch and thigh room that men's shit didn't have, and when the crotch blew I didn't give a fuck. Since then, men's jeans now often have stretch in them, more thigh room, and nicer tapers because everyone got over that retarded super skinny fit bullshit, so maybe you can thrift up some shit and not have to hit the women's section like my faggot ass did. But these days I just wear nice Giro shorts >>2054178In my experience, Brooks meme saddles fuck pants up even faster because the bevel is relatively sharp, tho Swallows are better than B-17s. Berthoud's leather saddles are easier on pants, but they're fucking expensive
>>2054267Listen. Ive lived 5 years in the NL and have thrown away 5 pairs of good quality trousers i would still have did i didn't cycle in them. Dont tell me to buy another leather sadle.
>>2054323buy a leather saddle faggot
>>2054271I've got a selle anatomica and it's murder on pants
>>2051742based unracerday of the pillow soon
>>2051742I always shout "The Champagne of Beeeeeers!" when I blow through a stop sign
>>2051742i wear a Quebec flag
>>2051742Just a regular t-shirt, sweatpants, basic mips helmet.
>>2056713Not wavecel?
>>2054175kinda pricey but chrome industries
This is basically me except never all black.Troy Lee Designs is a legacy brand I'll sport til I die. Everything else is local bike shop and breweries. DGAF about any bike brands or cycling stuff. TLD helmets shirts shorts pads socks for MTB and Moto
>>2058734I don't understand people who refuse to wear lycra because it's cringe and then unironically wear getups like that without dying of shame
>>2051742my workplace gave me a sick jacket with the company name and project embroidered into it all over so yes, now I unironically look like an off duty PMC plastered in weapons company logos
>>2058736I grew up watching BMX downhill redbull rampage, and riding dirt bikes with distant uncles and cousins. Now I ride MTBs with a local group that also loved BMX as kids, rode/rides moto few times a year... Yeah it makes sense to me. Never once cared for pro cycling. Couldn't name anyone other than Lance Armstrong. I can name dozen or two motocross and supercross BMX DH names. I don't care about the aerodynamic advantage of wearing lycra. I don't care about my Strava times. I'm comfy in slightly loose clothing. I do like the jerseys with pouches. You know what mogs both me and you roadies? The Pacific Northwest outdoorsy camper aesthetic, its the best on a bicycle
>>2058759breddy based take desu, I bike in kuhl pants cause I personally don't see anything else I have standing up to the crotch wear as well.
>>2058759So basically the Crust/Rivendell/Unracerâ„¢ aesthetic, trying hard to look like you're not trying hard
>>2058759>"lolllll look how little i try im so free lolllll">paid 10k for an outfit to ride on his 15k single speed bikebtw even among tryhard hipsters, pacific northwesters are shit tier. atlantic and french canadian ones mog you
>>2058759I like how both of their body language is like "I hope I don't get too much mud on my nice sneakers, socks, work shirt, hat, etc"
>>2051748I've got an SP hub and its alright for less than 1/3 the price of a SON. I mean it developed some bearing play after the first year, but it hasn't gotten any worse.
>>2058761Right on man. My wife has some Kuhls she likes a lot
>>2058780One thing I discovered accidentally with my Edelux 2 is if you put a sticker on it, it will project a shape on the road. The accidental part was when a mosquito splatted against the light and then a bug shadow projected on the road.
>>2058782
>>2058773This is some hardcore sad projection I feel bad for you >>2058779A brands photoshoot triggers you. I really feel bad for you
>>2058809Sorry if you got upset
>>2058810I think whistler bros made you upset
>>2058773What
>>2058813What a nightmare, lol. Imagine paying retardedly high ticket prices for the entire day to ride three times.
>>2058825Never understood the appeal of MTB as a lifestyle. I mean in theory it sounds great, but when you get down to how to actually make the fantasy happen, it sucks all the joy out of the experience. Either you're waiting in line at the chair lift like a sucker, or you're damaging some pristine grassland and getting the death stare from nature lovers. Either way you have to drive there, and drive back. So out of 10 hours spent on the hobby, it's about 30 minutes of being in the saddle and the rest is preparing and un-preparing.With a road bike you can just throw on a pair of bibs at home, check your tire pressure, maybe give it a few pumps, and off you go. But that's just not inclusive enough I guess because road bikes have weight limits for liability reasons.
>>2058825>>20588262 hours of riding is 2 hours of ridingI'm sorry you hatin ass bitches are sad, mad, and gay bib wearers LMAO
10 hours of driving for a 30 min ride sounds dope af fr fb
>>2058826same as alpine skiing. Unless you're one of the increasingly rare and lucky downeasters who still have a cheap, local and uncrowded ski/bike slope down the road, the amount of punishment you have to withstand to get to the full-on Downhill Experience(tm) just doesn't add up to me. It's wildly popular though; one of the few things that makes me unironically question whether I'm just a sperg
>>2058826>>2058825Stay glued to your screens, losers
>>2058782>americans discover shadows
>>2058838Love how the idea of being able to ride every day instead of waiting for the 3 day weekend is completely beyond comprehension to MTB hamplanets
>>2051742Lycrafags are cringe I wear normal clothes.
>>2051742The fuck is he talking about, 2012-era Allez with press-fit BB like it's some retarded dentist bike from >2018, wtf?
>>2058773the fuck did i just read
No I ride a 70s road frame swapped fixed gear that I painted matte black with no lights or reflectors with no helmet wearing black jeans and various shirts. My city of 200,000 something has had like 4 non crack addicted people who ride bicycles on the road ever because you have to be crazy to even consider doing it with how narrow our roads are. I wanted to be a cool hipster after watching macaframa, not some spandex faggot
>>2058773they hated jesus for telling the truth
This dude walks into the fair trade coffee shop and slaps your favourite baristas ass before grabbing your $16 latte what do you do?
>>2060150I go on a 15 minute rant about how shit segregated bike lanes are
>>2060150>fair trade coffee shop >favourite barista>$16 latteYou are a raging homosexual. I hope all my coffee purchases support the exploitation of third world populations.

>>2060326go make more hour long advertisements njb guy
>>2058826I have 30 miles of trails all within 3 miles of biking. There's 100's of miles of trails within a 30 minute drive. Why do you people have such strong opinions about things you've never done before?

>>2058759>lycra bad!>posts lycrawhat did she mean by this
Nah, I wear a black t-shirt and/or jacket, black shorts, black running shoes, and if necessary black gloves. I have a rack bag that I stuff my small backpack into. I wear a refelctive construction vest if riding at night.
Just my helmet.
Anyone know where to get cycling skinsuits that aren't thin printed crap now?Voler used to have good ones (pic related)
>>2051742Whats wrong with that light? You need the highest lumens you can to be safe
>>2060150Offer him some cheese
>>2063053unracers and urbanists think crippling your light makes you safer because "that's how they do it in europe". they will actually pay more for worse lighting just to virtue signal.
>>2051742Surprises me anyone wears any special clothing when hopping on a bike. Why wear a helmet or any special clothing when you're staying on the road anyway? Just get some cheap disposable lights and stick em on your steering wheel and the back end when its dark, that's all. If they don't see you with those, they would have run you over anyway.Besides, there isn't much that'll save me with the 1987 rust-framed cycling equivalent of a shitbox I am riding on.
>>2063083It's hard for zoomers to understand since you grew up in an age of 99 cent, 25,000 lumen rechargeables that weigh less than a postage stamp but remember technology was different back then. Most of the narrative around bike safety comes from the bike boom era of the 70s when active lighting wasn't really a thing known to 'mericans, and even if it was, it would have been far too expensive since everyone was broke from hyperinflation and these were kid's toys anyway. So needless to say as soon as kids started getting ground into hamburger meat by detroit-made land barges the karens of the time decided the REAL problem was the cyclist was asking for it by wearing provocative clothes. The CPSC responded by passing a rule that said bikes have to have shitty little shards of reflective plastic jammed in the spokes and everyone patted themselves on the back and decided safety had been solved and anyone who dies from now on was doubleplus asking for it.
>>2063077rent free
>>2063088It's impressive how any time someone on /n/describes a stupid person doing something stupid, a stupid person notices he's being talked about and spergs out, like clockwork

>>2063099okay sperg
>>2063101Don't give up, Skeleton.
>>2063114I'll try not to.Apparently I have had reumatoid arthritis since my mid 20s that's become a big issue recently.I can barely get out of bed at age 36.The years to come scare me.I can still bike for now and I haven't slowed down on that somehow but I can't run anymore and walk slower than most elderly people./Blog
>>2063085I mean, my tack-on lights are so shite they dont even illuminate anything in front of me, they're just there to make me visible to the cars.I don't get the obsession people have with bike safety. Unless you're shit at it or the roads are genuinely awful, you can easily bike without even using your hands. All it takes is not using a shitty mountainbike. Also as an unrelated fun fact, my bike has had basically all of its parts replaced so often that I am genuinely convinced it has become the real-life ship of Theseus.
>>2063101Why wear a helmet?
>>2063164I actually don't during rides, that was purely for a funny picture. The wind in my hair is too good to give up for safety.
>>2063177Damn right it is. I love the wind in my hair during the ride.
>>2063154that's terrible, man. but I'm glad you keep riding.I'm to the age I've started taking glucosamine. mostly as a preventative when I started getting random knee pain sometimes when flexing it all the way. I don't know anything about RA but it seems weird we don't have anything for it yet. hopefully soon.
>>2063249I wouldn't count on it, future treatment for chronic diseases will consist of shit like "100 years ago we didn't have that, just get some fresh air and eat raw meat"
