CBS News journalist slams media, says most underreported 2024 story was Biden’s ‘obvious cognitive decline’

Veteran CBS News reporter Jan Crawford dinged news organizations for not thoroughly covering President Biden’s “obvious cognitive decline” this year until it became unavoidable during his disastrous debate against Donald Trump over the summer.

Crawford, the network’s chief legal correspondent, insisted stronger reporting on the topic could have changed the entire election as she responded to a question from “Face the Nation” moderator Major Garrett about the most underreported story in 2024.

“Undercovered and underreported, that would be, to me, Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive decline that became undeniable in the televised debate,” she said on the Sunday morning show.

She then noted recent reporting by the Wall Street Journal that detailed how White House aides covered up Biden’s mental decline over the past four years.

The explosive report says staffers formed a tight circle around the 82-year-old Democrat to limit his in-person interactions.

“And yet he insisted that he could still run for president. We should have much more forcefully questioned whether he was fit for office for another four years, which could have led to a primary for the Democrats,” Crawford said.

“And yet he insisted that he could still run for president. We should have much more forcefully questioned whether he was fit for office for another four years, which could have led to a primary for the Democrats,” Crawford said.

Harris ultimately lost to Trump, who is retaking the White House on Jan. 20.

“Yet still, incredibly, we read in the Washington Post that his advisers are saying that he regrets that he dropped out of the race, that he thinks he could have beaten Trump,” Crawford said of Biden and his staffers.

“And I think that is either delusional or they’re gaslighting the American people.”

Robert Costa, CBS News’ chief election and campaign correspondent, noted on “Face the Nation” that Biden has said he was sick during his rough debate performance “and he’s always been fine and he leaves fine.”

“That is his position, the position of many of his top aides as well, even though there is that reporting,” Costa said.

Weird since actually it was in the New York Times every five minutes

lol you act like every leftist wasn't in complete denial before the debate, even calling conservatives conspiracy theorists for daring to suggest that Biden's mental health was a concern.
In fact half the Democrats were in denial even after the debate, up until Biden officially stepped down.

dems pretended like he was fine, even though he had dementia back in 2020, until the debate

the funniest part was seeing some dems pretend he was fine AFTER the debate. That's how far in denial they were
>>
>>1371560
What do you think "third-world" means? The way you use it implies you have no clue and think it means poor
>>

>What do you think "third-world" means?
poor
>The way you use it implies you have no clue and think it means poor
because it does
>ACKSHUALLY I learned in my history class that "third-world" means a country not aligned with either the US or USSR! (Gosh I'm so smart and such a good educated student)
cool story kid, but the adults are talking.
>>
>>1371532
Nobody *actually* believed the lies that Biden was cognitively sharp, everyone saw how he acted his entire presidency, it was obvious to everyone
Except Democrats
>>
The joke here is that Republican's can't actually recognize cognitive decline, they can only recognize it when their shill media tells them about it.
>>
>>1371532
he could have stepped down and let Kamala be the first woman president. instead the president is still a dementia patient.

magat behavior
>>
>>1371565
...what? Conservatives recognized the cognitive decline. It was Democrats who were blinded by it. Look at the picture in the OP.

why are you still here? Stop interrupting the adults.

Trump has been in cognitive decline since at least 2013. Conservatives just ignore it because "le funne orang man make libtards mad! Hurrdurr"

Pretty much everyone over the age of 40 has been in cognitive decline since they turned 40 so you're going to need a better argument than that or your imaginary strawmen, boomer

Biden didn't do shit in the white house. On average he spent nearly every other day on a vacation, and his administration of unelected bureaucrats made every decision for him

Biden probably isn't even cognitively consonant enough to order a ham sandwich

anon, you're an esl shill and we're all well aware of this fact

At least the press was consistent. They didn't mention Biden's decline and the normalized Trump's insane babbling at the same time. It was fair and balanced.
It was sad when Joe dropped out and Trump was still going on about him and didn't even know that Harris was his opponent for weeks and weeks.

You're a retard who lives in an information vaccum
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_and_golf

While campaigning to be president, Trump declared in August 2016: "I'm going to be working for you. I'm not going to have time to play golf".[50] As president, the amount of time he spent golfing generated controversy. Despite having frequently criticized his predecessor Barack Obama for having played golf too much as president, Trump golfed 11 times during his first eight weeks in office, when Obama did not golf at all in his first eight weeks. Golf Digest concluded that Obama played 306 rounds of golf over his two terms, which the magazine describes as "...a fairly remarkable amount of golf while in office".[51][52] Trump visited a Trump Organization property on 428 (nearly one in three) of the 1,461 days of his presidency and is estimated to have played 261 rounds of golf, one every 5.6 days.[53]

According to CNN, Trump visited Trump-owned golf courses 92 times between becoming president in January 2017 and January 3, 2018, although the White House did not disclose whether he played golf during a visit to a golf course.[54] The White House on some occasions denied that Trump played golf during his visits even after photos published on social media showed him doing so.[50] In November 2018, The Washington Post found that the average number of days between golf rounds was around 5 days for Trump, and around 12–13 days for Obama.[55]

Ah so you did lie
Thanks for clearing that up, faggot
>>
>>1371655
Those were just the Trump organization properties. he golfed elsewhere, too. The fact that you think that's normal is telling.

I literally don't care what you have to say and would prefer if you just took your meds and became a normal person.

only after the debate. Before then it was dismissed as a rightwing conspiracy theory. See OP pic.

Well Biden spent nearly 2 years in a convalescent home eating pudding and pardoning his son for crimes, so if you want to complain about laziness, Biden is demonstrably worse in that regard

Trump genuinely is showing signs of dementia himself (Not surprising considering he's 78 with a family history of Alzheimer's) if you pay attention. Like just silently dancing to music instead of asking questions, or going on long ass tangents in response to basic questions.
>>
>>1371555
I can't wait for Musk to fire your ass into homelessness. Once he gets rid of 99% of bureaucrats DC will have the lowest rent prices.

Come on man, I'm sure you can find better "evidence" than that.

Pretty sure he's just going to share the 6 year old Twitter rumor claiming Trump had a stroke because he fumbled a word

>CBS News journalist slams media, says most underreported 2024 story was Biden’s ‘obvious cognitive decline’
Everyone knew this, democrats are just too fucking brainwashed to have admitted it at any point in their lives until "the experts" told them it was ok
