I know it will be an entire AI infrastructure starting as a data center in Texas as well as other states but I'm curious on what it would accomplish or even be down the road

Who gives a fuck. I'd rather have bridges to no where than anymore aid to Ukraine

Hello paid shills. The war is an excuse for the Biden family and politicians to get rich. Ukraine started the war
>>
>>1376300
>Ukraine started the war
>by being invaded
ok retard.
>>
>>1376300
It's about control over vast natural gas resources, enough that Ukraine could end Russia's energy hegemony in Europe and by extension end Russia's leverage as well. Russia's eggs are entirely in the energy basket, and losing Europe would be catastrophic. Russia invaded in order to keep that from happening as well as leave a "glorious legacy" for putin and prevent Ukraine from joining NATO which would close the door forever on Russia taking those lands from Ukraine.

I need you to explain in detail how you think the "Biden family" is getting rich from this war. Think critically.
>>
>>1376302
>>1376303
Shut the fuck up shills. If any of that shit was important, then NATO would have intervened two years ago. Russia didn't invade shit. The US provoked the entire thing
>>
>>1376304
NATO protects its members, which Ukraine is not one of, so no they wouldn't. Russia losing their puppet in Kyiv after Zelenskyy got elected as a joke is what sparked the conflict. The US had nothing to do with it. Do at least a little research instead of regurgitating false propaganda, shill.

Zelensky ran on trying to normalise relations with Russia. He was a moderately Pro-Russian candidate. He just wasn't slavishly obedient, and Putin demands slavish obedience.
>>
>>1376353
He ran on ending the war with Russia, which hardly makes him pro-Russian.
>>
>>1376353
>Zelensky ran on
American promises
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
>Tf is Stargate??
It's a half trillion dollar ai dominance initiative. Operations managed by OpenAI, financial management by SoftBank, infrastructure by Microsoft.
Are libtards tired of all this winning yet?
>>
There's a good chance that had the election gone the other way Biden or Harris would be announcing the exact same thing.
>>
>>1376371
[X] Doubt
In 2017 Donald Trump signed an executive order to bolster AI research calling for the doubling of federal funding to al AI r&d. In 2023 after openai released chatgpt, Biden signed an executive order restricting AI and requiring businesses do things like ensuring it has equitable output, which among other things led to the debacle of Gemini having an ai image generator that only produced images of black people. Trump repealed this luddite executive order and got together leaders of AI and once again got a massive AI r&d project underway
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
This is dumb. This money should be going to fusion research so we can power such an infrastructure or quantum computing so we can stay ahead of China who is making huge strides in both. AI is such a waste.

Also,
paste the fucking article text you cockmongling tourist
>>
>>1376373
>In 2017 Donald Trump signed an executive order to bolster AI research calling for the doubling of federal funding to al AI r&d.
Excuse me, it was 2019, not 2017
>>
>>1376374
Honestly all the large AI cloud providers in the US are building their own nuclear reactors now to support their energy needs. We'd be better off with widespread adoption of nuclear power like China

Also, the whole "ai is dumb" thing isn't going to fly because it has huge military uses for autonomous swarm bots and autonomous fighter jets.
If you think Biden banned export of the ada architecture to China because he was worried about large language models, you're wrong
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
because the last time Trump promised billions to a startup, it went so well.

This is gonna wind up as another Foxxcon, I just fucking know it.
>>
>>1376378
Huge difference tho.
Foxconn had issues finding people able to do hardware engineering and manufacturing.. (actually, they are restarting their efforts again too)
Microsoft, OpenAI, already do exactly this right here in the US. The US has software engineers, what we don't have many of are hardware engineers
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
I was reading about this and it's actually brilliant.

They estimated some huge amount of AI investment money sitting idle worldwide something like 1.5 trillion or something. The point of this is to rake in the largest piece of that investment cash as they can, to lock China out of it

It's actually a pretty great strategic maneuver, us is already proven to be the world leader in ai, this is going to probably lock it in for quite some while
>>
>>1376378
Actually it's great you bring up foxconn. There is going to be so much financial incentive for someone who isn't Nvidia to enter the market. Nvidia right now basically has a monopoly on high performance chips, Lovelace has something like 10x the performance of hopper, and nobody even comes close. Nobody even has a software framework anywhere close to what CUDA provides. and nobody is happy about paying the premium Nvidia is charging for this monopoly. There is going to be a lot of financial incentive for foxconn to get their shit together and start making similar chips for more than just Nvidia. Or, Nvidia keeps their innovation monopoly, at which point foxconn is still going to be heavily financially incentivized to increase production given this announcement
>>
>>1376387
This was still true back when Trump promised them billions and wound up giving them millions for fucking nothing.
>>
>>1376388
No, it wasn't. When Trump did it the only uses for GPUs were gaming and crypto.
High-end gpus are now literally a strategic resource
>>
>>1376389
They were just as valuable back then as they are now. And they're going to be even more expensive in the US after Trump tariffs the shit out of the primary suppliers. Even the ones we make are going to go up due to increased price of imported materials, and any factories to replace imports will take far too long to materialize.
>>
>>1376390
>They were just as valuable back then as they are now
Lol you are uneducated in the matter apparently. There are backlogs on orders for hopper architecture right now over a year long, and Blackwell will be even worse.
This sort of thing did not happen to data center GPUs until 2023. Any backlogs were for gaming GPUs because scalpers bought them up to resell them at a premium, which is still happening, but now legitimate cloud providers have a massive GPU shortage of data center ai GPUs.

Educate yourself.
>>
>>1376391
>hopper
Excuse me, hopper and Lovelace.
There's a reason Biden blocked their sale to China and it has nothing to do video gaming and crypto mining
>>
>>1376259
I feel the exact same.
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
A means of siphoning taxes to tech oligarchs. Socialism for the rich, basically, which has been business as usual since the 2000s.
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
This is so frustrating. I hate the fact that trump keeps winning
>>
>>1376445
But it's not the government spending the $500 billion, it's the members of the joint business venture. All trump did was get them in a room together and made it happen
>>
>>1376449
oh so even less assurance this'll actually happen.
>>
>>1376452
I'm fairly certain Trump repealing biden's anti-ai executive order and and assuring them that the federal government has their back it's going to work out quite well considering it's a burgeoning industry with literally billions of dollars worldwide just waiting to be invested in it
>>
>>1376454
according to Musk they only have 10 billion in reality. Which of course, take with a grain of salt due to his rivalry with Altman, but at the same time consider his role in the Trump admin and how HE might wind up sabotaging this even if it's true.

He has a history of it. See the whole hyperloop project.
>>
>>1376455
>they only have 10 billion in reality
Who is "they"?
Microsoft?
>>
>>1376449
The initial 100 billion is from the AI companies. The 400 billion over the next four years is ambiguous. If public money does make up part of the investment, it would be money well spent in my opinion.
>>
>>1376459
>The 400 billion over the next four years is ambiguous. If public money does make up part of the investment, it would be money well spent in my opinion.
I fully agree that this is a great use of tax money, unironically. Generative AI is an insanely strategic sector right now.

But, that being said according to the article it's supposed to be from the involved venture partners. Although I have no doubt that like Microsoft and openai are going to be looking towards investors to finance as much as possible, why wouldn't they
>Executives from the companies are expected to commit $500 billion into Stargate over the next four years
>>
>>1376459
>it would be money well spent in my opinion.
Thanks for identifying yourself as a retard who should be ignored.
Funneling public money into private AI research is pretty fucking dumb.
Literally burning the money would be a better investment for America
>>
>>1376461
>Literally burning the money would be a better investment for America
That's what SS, Medicare/aid, Obamacare, child tax credits, and other handouts are doing. Invest in the corporations, everyone does better. Invest in the dregs, everyone will be worse off.
>>
>>1376461
>Literally burning the money would be a better investment for America than AI R&D
You are quite literally retarded anon. I am extremely glad you arent in any position to be making decisions on behalf of other people
>>
>>1376462
Retard who the fuck is actually getting the benefits from those services. I'll give you a hint: not a bunch of AI techbros who will sell any breakthroughs they make to the highest bidder.

Hi boomer. Exactly how much do you hate new technology? Still playing with your ipod, huh?

fund your own AI research with your own money, faggots
>>
>>1376483
I do actually.
Just because you can't keep up with the times and want to stay living in the 90s doesn't mean the rest of America wants to be dragged down with you.
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
Op here! NGL lots of side tracking and stuff. I genuinely find it interesting to read your guys' comments and stuff. Hope you guys are having a decent evening. Take care.
>>
>>1376483
And that's exactly what Trump's doing, with $100 billion of that total of half a trillion dollars going to such right now. US taxpayer's money. Republican taxpayer's money
That must be a good thing, because if you disagree with what Trump's doing, therefore Trump is wrong
>>
>>1376623
>$100b of US taxpayer's money.
Why must you lie in every post?

retarded libbot.
>>
>>1376625
Oh wait I see. You are citing a tangentially related argument that mentions it, but doesn't state where the money is coming from, and attempting to lie by omission.

The money is coming from the private venture partners.

Educate yourself.

The retarded can never be educated. Or they wouldn't be retards. Case in point, Elon Musk. When his own mother says he's a retard, QED.
>>
>>1376631
You are mentally ill

>>1376632
How could a schizoid bootlicker like you make such a diagnosis?

AI would be able to do fusion research exponentially faster.
>>
>>1376904
You really don't understand AI, do you?
>>
>>1376910
You really really really don't understand fusion research and how much computer simulation trial and error that involves, do you?

>>1376340
If so, then good. I trust The Machine 10x as much as I trust shitting, grasping, short-sighted retards.
>>
>>1377012
Anon, who do you think designs and programs "The Machine"? Shit in, shit out.
>>
>>1376257 (OP)
Probably just a bunch of generative faggotry for schizos to spam boards with in higher fidelities than ever before
