If Denmark alone complained, its request could be dismissed on the grounds that it is a “small country.” But if France or Germany did so, or even both, along with other countries, the UN would be obliged at the very least to listen, if not to act. On the other hand, this would force the US to go to war not against Denmark but against Europe. Which, even from a purely domestic policy perspective, makes things a little more complicated.
