> some thing thats good as a dialy commuter since my job is 26 miles away. What are the pros and cons of both.
diesel will get banned soon, don't get it.
>rube goldberg machineGet an EV you dumb boomer.
I fell for the diesel meme and it fucking sucks. They act like these trucks are super reliable but at the end of the day it's still a 25 year old truck. and diesel is so complicated. There's so many extra parts. I'm definitely going back to gas soon. Who cares if they "only" last 200k miles. A full rebuild would still be cheaper than what it's cost me to get this diesel to 300
>>27590650He didn't say that he loves cock up his ass, dunno why youd make that suggestion
>>27590672Pretty much this. Unless you're paying for a mint condition classic, its pretty much a crap shoot buying a 20 year old truck with 150k miles on it, Diesel or not
>>27590643Get a flexfuel pickup truck. examples Ford F150, 2015+(older GM flexfuels were poorly made) year GM products like RAM 1500, Chevy Silverado,
>>27590673Rube goldberg machine cultists love talking about gay sex all the time.
>>27590689Every single EV I see in the driveway also has a faggot flag out front. Get AIDS and die
>>27590643Gas>lower fuel economy>lower tow capacity>cheaper maintenance>V8 noises>lower weight and softer suspension for smoother ride qualityDiesel>expensive upkeep>much harsher ride>superior fuel economy but more expensive at the pump>significantly great tow/haul capability>turbo noisesUnless you're frequently pulling trailers over a certain size, there's not much reason to get the diesel. However, this is assuming you're looking at a 1500 gasser vs a 2500 turbodiesel. 2500 gassers are useless and drink fuel at a rate that makes them not worth buying, period. >>27590675>>27590672This is fag speak for retards. 12 Valve Cummins and 7.3L Powerstrokes are piss easy to work on and refuse to die. My ancient 6BT is incredibly easy to do fucking anything on. One of the more simple vehicles I've worked on and it's reliable to a fault.
>>27590691Sure bro. I bet you've never even seen an EV parked because the neighborhood you live in is too poor.
>>27590706I swear a majority of the time I see people post their truck it isn't a v8 configuration. Off that I'd assume he isn't even looking at a v8 because >muh daily commuter

>>27590837Explains a lot.
>>27590729That picture is literally from my neighborhood lmao. The only people with EVs are fags and fag lovers, unironically
Diesel is only a viable option if it is actively making you money. Otherwise, the higher cost of fuel, increased frequency of maintenance, and general increased cost as opposed to gas will put you upside down on the thing. If you're using it to work, that's where the diesel shines. Everything can then be used as a write-off and the increased towing capacity and extra torque will be well worth it.
>>27590643Look for a tacoma or a nissan frontier something that is economical, maybe an older ford ranger
>>27590847Meanwhile, in reality.
>>27590730Part of me felt like I was wasting my breath for this very reason. If OP is looking at V6 trucks, he's a faggot beyond help, though. Nothing said in this thread can ever help him. The only help he needs and will ever get will come from the barrel of a loaded gun.
>>27590643>should I buy a larp prop to go to work? No, get an actual car
>>27590643if diesel is really more expensive than gasoline in the US what's the point
>>27591160So retards can feel like momma's special boy in their larp prop. VW had a good thing going with diesel cars here, but then they got caught with the emissions thing and now you never see them around
>>27591160It is marginally better at propelling these trucks as diesel loves moving bigger loads in general.
>>27591160It used to be cheaper 25 years ago, and probably some retard will bring up it contains more energy per volume, as if that matters
>>27590672You bought a shit truckI wouldn’t buy any diesel truck other than a 12v Cummins, anything else either makes no power or is overly complicated with electrical shit everywhere that fails
27590770He's referring to the two most common responses from EV proponents on the Internet when money is a concern. (You) probably would have made the other argument if he said the opposite.
>>27590706> However, this is assuming you're looking at a 1500 gasser vs a 2500 turbodiesel. 2500 gassers are useless and drink fuel at a rate that makes them not worth buyingYeah but the 7.3 gasser in the F-250s is awesome

>>27590643>Do you tow? >Literally every day>10k lbs+>And your income (1099) is dependent upon this?>So you can write off using and maintaining the vehicle on taxes? Then buy a dieselIf you said no to any of that, 8100 or 6.8/6.2, hairdresser
>>27591298I remember doing tree work back in the late 90s and noticing that diesel was significantly cheaper than gas. Then sometime in the mid-late 2000s it was suddenly significantly more expensive than gas(which also got expensive). The diesel car fad here only just started when it was expensive.
>>27590643Old diesels are old pieces of shit. New diesels are insanely badass and powerful but are expensive to own. New gas trucks shot all over old diesels for capability and are more reliable while being cheaper than old diesels to run.T. First gen Cummins Chad. Don't buy an old diesel lmao.
>>27592811Don’t know what you’re taking about my Cummins has 350k miles on it and it’s never fucked up, no electronics to fail and solid as a rock while getting 20+ mpg

>>27591515Awesome at drinking gas and being thermodynamically inefficient in comparison to a diesel. Gas engines are fucking retarded for HD trucks.>>27593420Yes. If you aren't in constant need of heavy towing or hauling capability, don't fucking buy a diesel. The only other reason to do so is because you want to churn black smoke while going fast and you have a shitload of disposable income.
>>27593599>Awesome at drinking gasGet's 90% of the MPG of a modern diesel, costs less per mile in fuel, way less in maintenance, and saves the cost of an entire engine replacement versus the cost of a diesel. Would be cooler in a half ton but most half tons come with onions turbo 4 and 6 cylinders now or stupid deactivation features. Big block pushrod V8 is based.
>>27593886What maintenance are you factoring in besides oil and filters? I don’t think the gasser is a whole lot cheaper when it comes to that, hell the powerstroke take 10w-30 now.
>>27593886No one cares about your comparisons to modern diesels. Delete any one of them and they almost double the 7.3's economy. My 32 year old 6BT gets 20mpg. Show me the cost of lifetime maintenance on a 7.3 in 30 years and we can compare it to the lifetime of my shitbox at 62. I guarantee mine will be significantly less and, to cap it off, my truck can pull more weight with less stress on the block. The 7.3 Gasser is retarded and shit. You Fordfaggots can cope all you want, but your numbers are garbage and you'll keep embarassing yourselves defending the turd until empirical evidence finally proves you're gay retards who should die of AIDS.
>>27592941My dad has an almost entirely stock (1in lift, did something with the muffler a decade ago) 04 Cummins with 425k miles that gets about 22mpg highway and has towed almost anything we've hooked it up to. Love that old girl...

>>27593420Diesel is absolutely better than gas it just doesn't make sense to own. It's sort of how a GTR shits all over a Miata but at the end of the day one cost $200k and never sees the limit so most people rightly point out the Miata is the better choice.Diesels make a shit ton of power (new ones) and can essentially pull anything you want including things youre not legally allowed to. It's just that they're much more expensive compared to a truck that'll do 95% of the same work and reliability for a third of the TCO. There's a reason diesel shops exist and gas truck shops don't.>12V Old as fuck and not safe to tow. 2nd gens are falling apart now and the first gen is a complete shitbox that literally (correct use) has a frame suspension setup from 1972. Not to mention regular cab or a regular cab + fake seats makes it impractical. It'll get out towed by a modern half ton and I say that as a longtime first Gen owner. It's a toy.>7.3L LMAO at this piece of shit turd. 6.0L fucking mogs it despite what the internet tells you. Our fleet has run superduties all the way back to the old ass IDI trucks and I say from experience Ford was shit until the 6.0L. Ideally I'd try for an 08+.You can't service half the electrical components on an OBS now outside the junkyard it's fucked. It's a turd like the 5.9L Cummins but dramatically less supported and much more complicated with it's half ass injection system.Never fucked with GM shit desu.7.3 gas super duty or better yet, a $15k 6.2L from 11+ is what I'd buy if I needed a work truck.Fuck a Diesel.
>>27594298Forgot to mention the MPG meme which is complete bullshit. VE pumped 12V with a better geared NV4500 swap with pizza cutters doesn't pull what these clowns are claiming with trucks making double the power (and this fuel). LMAO it's like people claiming they've got a 10" cock.
>>2759429808+ 6.4L*
>>27594298I 2nd a 6.2, its probably fords best drivetrain since efi, and i never hear anyone talk about it6.0s are great in van and medium duty applications where IT STAYS STOCK and 90% of your jobs are hpo leaks and maintenance, but finding an unmolested truck is going to be like finding a barn find gt40In fact, finding unmolested diesels is so hard dieselfags have 180'd their opinion on 6.5s and now those are getting bought up
