Is it worth springing $100 for a Dewalt air compressor or should I just get the $30 chinese knockoff?
>>
>>27593644
idk

usually when Im faced with a situation like this, I'll get the cheap one, and if I end up breaking it because I use it a lot, then I'll get the better/more expensive one. Sometimes I buy shit like this and only end up using it once or twice a year and the cheap one would have been fine
>>
>>27593645
This is honestly the best advice. Buy the cheap tool first, use it till you kill it. Unless you're a toolfag like me and just want the dewalt. In which case, get the yellow tool that'll never be as good as the red ones.

I got this Ryobi for free with 2 3ah high output batteries and a charger, all for like $100. It just werks
Key thing with any of these smaller inflators is to follow the duty cycle so they don't overheat. So no you won't be filling 4 off road tires from 0-30 psi back to back, get a real engine driven compressor for that
>>
>>27593672
I also think if you already have a lot of milwaukee tools (or dewalt, or ryobi), you should get that type because having to keep a whole bunch of different batteries charged is annoying, and the batteries you get with tools are almost as much as the tool on their own now.
>>
>>27593644
I bought this one for $15 a while back. It worked surprisingly well. It was able to fully fill a 165/65/R14 that was basically flat and top up three more that were low within a couple of minutes and still show plenty of battery life. It recharges from USB, which is convenient. I'm thinking about buying three more for my next overlanding trip so I can fill up all four tires at once. It's not like a proper heavy duty air compressor, but I can buy four of them for less than one heavy duty compressor, and that should make for pretty quick work.
>>
>>27593644
I bought this exact one and it broke first time I used it. Although to be fair it was -42 BEFORE wind chill that day

take that as you will

I got one of those cheap Chinese air pumps and it works fucking fine. Spend the extra money if you want but there's going to be no tangible benefit
>>
>should i buy the chinese made american brand or the chinese one
>>
>>27593797
>Battery powered
Oof. It's gonna fail right when you need it in a year or two
>>
>>27594066
It's the shitty plastic pumps that always fail on these and those are the same between the plug in and cordless ones
>>
>>27593644
Get a ViAir
>>
Just use gas station's compressor like normal human bean
>>
>>27594086
Those aren't free in the US lel

That works if your mobility doesn't depend on the tool
>>

??
>>
>>27594093
Idk, something nigger-related as I was told. They steal air hoses or something, so the compressor requires human supervision and a small donation from each customer.
>>
>>27593644
>plastic on the outside
>probably inside too
>no cooling
>cig ligter plug instead of alligator clips
>>

gas station charges like $1.25 per 5 minutes here in NYC.
>>
>>27594058

I had one of these made just for inflating car and truck tires, costs more than 10 bucks.
It overheated filling a single flat tire and became junk.
>>
>>27593644

You will regret getting the cheap one when it fails on you. Alot of those wont even work after just 4 tires being topped up.
I recently replaced my old 12v battery jumper/flashlight/tire filler with a husky dual voltage(120/12) one. Costs almost 80 bucks but has a digital display and a set it and forget it setting, filled over 30 tires so far without issue.

I got a cheap tire inflator for my car that runs off DC. It is slow. When I'm home this is superior.
>>
>>27597730
>When I'm home this is superior.
That thing is the fucking worst though. It takes forever to fill a tire up. I understand if it stays in the car for emergencies, but just having a little pancake compressor for the garage is miles better.

How is it the worst? It fills my bike tires very quick and tops off my car tires very fast. Does it replace an air tank if you are replacing tires a lot, no, but who does this a lot? I'm not a mechanic. My dad has a tire machine and air tank. I needed it once two years ago when changing all my tires. Other than that the Ryobi does the duty.
>>
>>27593706
The ones that run off 18V power tool batteries generally beat the piss out of any inflator that plugs into the 12v lighter plug. Only good 12V inflators are the like $100+ high pressure ones that clamp directly to the battery. I have the Ridgid 18V inflator and I don’t even air up the compressor for tires anymore.

This one was like $25 the holiday season a year or two ago. Got one for a friend.
>>
>>27598168
Did your friend use the hot gun trick so that the cord can actually be put in that top holder without falling out? Just got to heat it up and tighten the plastic holder a little with pliers
>>
>>27598204
The Ryobi gun? It’s in the hands of a lady who is almost 80. She’s ok.

>gas station's compressor.
In my area those are often faulty or vandalized. This issue has been so common for 16+ years that they keep the tire inflator part inside the gas station store, so I would have to always go inside to ask them to give the tire inflator to me so I could use it, then after use I would have to return the tire inflator back into the store.
Faulty tire inflator that leaks air out between air hose and tire inflator connectors cannot be used because properly it gives falsely high readings on tire pressure.

I bought my own 2hp air compressor 13 years ago and tire inflator. This is what I use to fill my car tires with air when Im at home. I also have few air tools. 2 years ago I bought a portable jump starter with a built in air compressor for emergency situations just in case if I have to jump start my car or add air into tires when Im away from my home.

>like normal human bean.
Kek. Another proof that "normal human bean" is a direct codeword to describe an educated subhuman that is poor, lazy, insecure, always maximum interdependent. Doesnt care about being independent & self sufficient. No wonder why quality of modern men has sunken down because of too many "civilized males" like you.

I got one of these Viair clones. It's a massive fucking upgrade over these fucking irritating and buzzy lighter socket compressors. Even the Milwaukee inflators have a shitty and small plastic compressor inside. All the electronic garbage is bullshit too.
