Is it just me or was Renault unparallelled when it came to D segment interiors in the 80s? Seriously I look at this and the 190D looks very low rent in comparison.
Related to that (but from the 70s), I think the W123 was a big step down in interior design quality for Mercedes. It seems absolutely tacky to me. I love the W124 though.

>muh interior design

would you shit and fart your pants comparing modern NPC retardmobile interiors too?

as long as it is fucking good enough and spacious enough I don't care about little gay shit like "nooo theres no wood trim :(" or "nooo there's no hekin cupholder!!"

only care about the seats being comfy leather, having seat heating, radio works, glovebox is there, gauges work, that's all you need.

Precisely, 190D has wood trim but the design is ugly (particularly the cloth seat versions, Burberry tier patterns) and the ergonomics suck too (power window switches in the center console get a pass because it was the 80s but it's generally inferior to the Renault. Their seats are particularly inferior, even in the leather versions. Pic related are the 190D seats. For being one of the most expensive cars of its segment back in the day it sucked.

I hate the Model 3 interior for what it's worth.

Compare that to the ones on the Renault which are almost Italian exotic tier.
>>
Larger brother Renault 25 was even plushier, but then we'd have to compare it to the W124 and the comparison is no longer night and day (and I even prefer the Merc in that case)

It has to be you mate, because even being French I've only ever weird people here saying the Renault interior were garbage compared to the German ones. Though maybe you could say it's our tendency to blindly suck the germutts.

Heard* not weird.

The Merc is far better, and I know from experience because my family had a W201. Perceived quality is off the charts in the Sacco-era cars, everything you touch feels solid.

Stunning.
Great turbo v6 powerplant and transmission too

>that floating dashboard
Just inexcusable, thank God for the facelift making the so-called "taxi console" standard.
>>27596613
That dashboard is just atrocious
That doesn't scream quality and refinement to me, just ugliness. Everything looks out of place, those shapes seem made for a Fiat Ritmo. The W114/115 was much better resolved with the vents flowing a lot more harmoniously with the dashboard lines and the controls not looking like they belong on some homemade appliance. For that interior to look good you have to ignore the entire dashboard and center console.
>>27597367
One of my dream cars for sure. The 90s successor the Safrane was stunning as well.

This one is more typical.
The wood on the dashboard and center console was a crutch for the designers to cover up their horrid decisions.
Some other manufacturers manage to make even hard plastic interiors look good. Not Mercedes' case.

While the W123 may LOOK cheap, it's steel underneath that dash. I won't dispute the look is atrocious, but the construction isn't. It's steel, a layer of foam and a layer of vinyl on top. Which is why they don't squeak after decades of hard use.

retarded reductionist statements like yours are the reason car interiors are such boring and muted piles of shit nowadays. you dont think past your basic amenities and find no enjoyment in life and you need to reflect that in your shitty car with plastics made out of recycled poland spring bottles. if youre not a woman transition now you freak, you certainly are already making the same purchasing decisions as one
>>
>>27598756
Why the cringe face?
It wasn't bad for the mid 80's up until 92.
That matches the Legend and Diamante.
The cringe face was funny though, haha.

What?
Dumpster fire was ANYTHING American from that time period.
Go ahead and prefer your K Car or Chevette though..

I live in a cold shithole retard, tell me how great it is to sit on frigid cold leather or cloth.

But keep contradicting yourself by going “nooo you can’t just need basic amenities you need a bunch of doodads and gizmos!!” while simultaneously complaining about me wanting heated seats in a frigid shithole

"great v6" is an oxymoron. V6 is an emissions compliance device, not a valid engine configuration for performance
>>
>>27607002
I don't see how engine configuration has anything to do with emissions. Packaging efficiency sure, and a v6 is objectively a better configuration for performance than an inline 6 because of polar moment of inertia, you could even argue it´s better than a boxer 6 because it leaves more room for manifolds and venturi tunnels.

Good place to stop reading
>>

So you don´t read anything sensible, no wonder you are wrong.

Hell the first version of the renault 25 v6 turbo didn´t even have a catalytic converter.
