Imagine sacrificing your best years for the years when you're old, decrepit and unattractive LMAO couldn't be me

Boomers will NEVER have the opportunity to be on their 20s with a badass $60k+ car mogging literally everyone and fucking hot, prime puss
>>
I mean I can't blame him. Some project cars can be a absolute money sink. The money spent on my 480whp 71HTA 61k mile Evo IX (bought for $11k in 2018 with a blown motor from a seized oil pump, spent a good $20k between two motor builds and a transmission) could've gone to a used C5 Z06 or a new at the time FK8 CTR or Focus RS that would've been nearly paid off by then.

And I wouldn't have wasted so much time building it
>>
>You should be frugal in your 20s and then when you're 60 and your back aches and knees barely work, only THEN should you start enjoying life!
What a backwards mindset
Yeah don't enslave yourself in debt over a car, but the 12 years from 18-30 are more impactful on your life than from 30-death... So enjoy those years...

>>

yeah but then i'd have no money and i'd still be incel
>>
>>27594970
Psychological studies show boys' self-esteem/confidence w/women are based on their experiences ~16yo.

This means Dads should be teaching their sons the skills of pimpin' and not simpin' from a young age, and preventing them from ending up in a life of vidya, animay, and inceldom
>>
>>27594943

>>
>>27595001
I lost my virginity at 24 in a WRX Wagon with sunfaded paint and stained to fuck seats with no AC

Cars don't matter when sex havers often get picked up by their gfs
>>
>>27595013
Yeah, I would add that age 12-18 is perhaps more impactful/defining than 18-30.
>>
>>27594943

Well as long as you learned and had fun that's all that matters
>>
>>27595018
Anyone who thinks they need a 'bad ass' care to get women is destined to be a cucky, little faggot bitch. I've fucked women in a nearly 30 year old civic hatchback.

It's all in the mindset. It's telling that they think they need money and flashiness to impress women, then they get surprised when they get used for money. Comedy gold...
>>
>>27595018
>I lost my virginity at 24
There's hope :D
>>
>>27595017
I know, the only cope I have is that the same car is worth $23-30k if I decide to sell, but I'll never get back the time wasted. If I did a CTR or a RS it would've been a car that for at least 3-4 years wouldn't have given me no problems and would've been a lot of fun to AutoX or cruise in on weekends, and it was when interest rates were low so the finance note probably wouldve been 5% or so for a first time buyer.

Instead I get to brag to strangers how I turned into a Mitsubishi master technician.
>>
>>27595026
>Anyone who thinks they need a 'bad ass' care to get women
I mean I know I'm not gonna get women anyway, so why not have a bad ass car?
Will people automatically assume I'm compensating when in reality I just want to enjoy my life?
>>
>>27595035
Normies might, depending on how loud and obnoxious your car is. But who cares, normies don't know shit. Other car people will respect or stereotype depending on what kind of car it is, but for the most part, people respect other cars and car people for what they are.
>>
>>27595026
No, truthfully women don't know shit about cars. As long as the AC + radio works, it's one color, and it won't leave you stranded it'll probably get you laid fine. The ones that are able to tell apart a new BMW from a Toyota are the ones who are expert moneygrubbers or Slavic.

Hell, half the people 18-30 don't have a license. Just having a running and driving car is enough. Plenty of guys get driven around by their girlfriends.

This
I’m convinced that the whole obsession with saving everything for retirement stems from a bunch of merchants encouraging you to invest every dime possible into the stock market through 401ks and other instruments, so they can make more money and spend it.
Of course I save some for retirement, but I certainly am going to spend plenty now for things that I enjoy while I’m still able bodied and (somewhat) young. I figure I’ll be buying a dual sport bike in the next year or so, because I work for by money and I want it. I might be responsible and sell one of my other motorcycles, or maybe I won’t?
By the time I’m 60-something my house will be paid off, and I will have retirement accounts along with savings, but probably not massive heaps of money. I’ll certainly be able to get by and have enough to go on some trips here and there, have hobbies, etc. That’s just fine, what am I going to do, be buried with it? Look at big numbers in my accounts while the nurse wipes my ass?
>inb4 give it to kids so they can also save it all till they’re too fucking ancient to enjoy it

Yeah, u mad
>>
>>27594931
It's a matter of calculating risks, if it's something you like and you can afford it, it's not that terrible to trim some fat in other areas to accommodate that expense as long as you're not eating ramen everyday just to barely afford the car payments.

People spend money on all kinds of dumb shit, at least you can have fun with a nice car.

I did that years ago for my dream car from the 70's when they were really cheap, it was in terrible condition so I had to put it away after a while but it was pretty cool experience at the time. Driving a boring car is just soul destroying.
I've thought about it back and forth but it probably is better just to go hardcore getting your living situation and job in order and then just later buying a car that is already restored once you have a good job.

He bought a "Normal Car" though. It's just a Mustang. He didn't buy a GT350R.

If he took out a 98 or longer month loan on a used mustang just to brag that is just being irresponsible. If he has a job that pays like 60k a year then I see no reason not to have a nice car.

>>
>>27596814
I don't disagree with you that you should wait until you're in your 30s either.
But if you don't have major expenses in your 20s, I don't see much harm in balling out on a fun car.
It's not the smartest decision in the world, but you should be making money in life by getting promotions, getting better paying jobs, or growing your business or whatever, not by saving $30k over 10 years buying a $20k corolla instead of a $50k mustang.
>>27596822
Respectfully, why are you even on this board?
Car enthusiasts understand that it's an expensive hobby, and that the reward is well worth it.
>>
>>27596869
I simply disagree that you can call yourself a car enthusiast and also say that you don't care to experience more powerful sportier cars.
I'm not saying you MUST buy powerful sportier cars, because obviously not everyone can comfortably afford them, but you should at least have the aspiration to.
If you don't see the "point" of buying a fun sporty car like a Porsche, then either you're not a car enthusiast or you're a poorfag car enthusiast who copes about how fun his shitboxes are.
It's like someone with a $300 racing video game setup talking about how he's a real car enthusiast, but sees no point in driving a real car, because it's a waste of money at the end of the day.

this may have been good advice for someone that was born in the 50's and is reaching dying age, but now 30's have become the new 20's and 20's are just teens without training wheels.
>>
>>27594931
I spent my whole 20s working and saving up because that's what everyone said was the "smart" thing to do. No partying, no drinking, rarely eating out, no fun cars, nothing. Living like a poor, soulless fuck with a fitting NPC grey econobox. Now I'm in my 30s and was it worth it? No. I have a decent chunk in my savings, sure, but what does that get me today? Absolutely nothing. I still can't afford a home (even in my relatively low COL area) because house prices skyrocketed and the interest rates are fucked (No I don't live anywhere near LA/NYC/whatever and I'm not moving out to Cletusville, pop. 20). I still can't afford a fun car because that would dig into my savings and put me out of ever owning real estate. I live near the beach and I love being out in the ocean. Too bad I still can't afford a small boat or jet ski to have fun with on the weekends. My younger years have gone by and now I'm at the point in life where I'm too old to make new connections, not wealthy enough to have fun and slowly getting more mentally decrepit and incapable of picking up new hobbies.
Anyway the moral I learned from this is that the future is guaranteed to be worse, and you just don't know _how much_ worse. So no level of frugality trying to prepare for it will ever outweigh living in the now and enjoying life while you still have it. The value of the dollar decreases just as much as the value of your life, don't put yourself into this "save up money so you can enjoy "life" in your 60s (if the v*x or [topic of the year] hasn't killed you by then)" mentality while you're young. If you are able to afford your life now, don't be afraid to spend the rest of your money on hobbies, on things that make you happy, because happiness will never be measured by fake numbers.
>>
>>27597131

When I was 18 I got a car way above my pay grade at the time. Got in debt, which motivated me to get my as out and do work. I would wash and wax that fucker every weekend.
It sure helped getting pussy. I regret nothing.

My goal is to retire at 60, people like OP have to work until they're 75.
>>
>GUYS DONT GO IN DEBT FOR A CAR AT A YOUNG AGE
>WHY
>BECAUSE... JUST DONT DO IT OKAY???

fuck everyone. go in debt and enjoy life before some jew takes everything away from you. growing old and frugal isnt worth it. all it does is make you bitter towards the younger generation.

>but mah house
>but mah retirement
lmao, enjoy all that cash when youre an old fart who cant get off their couch, nice life you got there.

>My goal is to retire at 60
This post right here just convinced me to drop $30k on a car that I will find fun through the twisties.
I also wanted to retire at .. 55 actually, but I don't care about that anymore. Life is meaningless and I won't have any kids or grandkids; work is the only thing that makes me feel like I have a purpose and it gives me a chance to interact with other humans who aren't cashiers at the grocery store. I would love to spend all day making art, but it's so isolating and I'm so tired. I don't even take vacation, so why would I retire?
$30k may turn into $140k over twenty years, or $300k over thirty years .. but the difference between $2.9M and $2.6M ain't shit.
Fuck it. I'm buying something fun while I still have my eyesight and reflexes.

my little brother got cool cars and couch surfed and lived in various apartment for awhile while i had a house with an s10. i wouldnt switch
>>
>>27605029
how old are you bruh? if you're not in your forties then you still have a chance to start a family
In 2018, 49 percent of men first married at 30 or older and 20 percent first married at 35 or older
>>
>>27603593
Retiring is overrated. Just kill yourself when you get old. No one needs to live past 65. The average American lifespan was only 68 in 1960. Getting old is something that only started happening in the last few decades. The human body isn't designed to live longer than that. If you need medication and surgeries and poopbags just to stay alive, then just die.

Bruh, spend your money on:

1) hookers
2) cars

You have nothing else to spend it on, or to save for. What's the point of life if you don't even get to enjoy what you want.
>>
>>27605179
1) Gross.
2) I'm going to look at a used 435i or RC350.. maybe something else depending on what I find.
>>
Okay, I don't know what other thread to put this in: I bought a used Mazda 6 a few weeks ago and although it meets all my needs and is reasonably fun to drive, I have moments when I think maybe I should have reached slightly outside my price range and gone into more debt to get a new, say, Type R and paid that off over a longer period of time because those cars are only going to get more rare and more valuable. Am I insane?
>>
>>27605229
it's called buyers remorse
>>
>>27605229
I'm feeling similar. I played it safe and got a cuckover but I saw a new miata the other day and I just wanted to drive to the Mazda dealership and buy one. Maybe its worth trying to get one anyway.
>>
>>27605249
Yeah, I guess it is, but it's more remorse about te long term versus short term because I'm happy with what I got re: my needs/wants, I'm just not sure if it was worth it to be more financially conservative vs what would be a more immediately enjoyable experience and better resale value

Women don't give a shit about your muscle car. You literally only attract the attention of men. Muscle cars are twink bait you fag.

my gf notices people staring at my car whenever we drive together and laughs + gets slightly jealous every time, it's pretty funny
she barely gives a shit about the car itself but loves the social aspect

There's nothing like driving a fast muscle car with your girl in the next to you. It's the real Amerimutt dream. Hope you get to experience that one day anon.
>>
>>27594937
Yeah I'm a zoomer and I got driven out more than half an hour by some chick so I could dick her down when I had no car. If you need a car to get pussy you're probably ugly and/or don't realize it's a bad idea to attract gold diggers on purpose. A haircut, better clothes, acne medication, losing weight etc. will probably help more.

I've also been there overextending myself to buy a cool car and it's a fuckass position to be in to be in because so much of your money is being eaten up by the car that it affects the rest of your life and anything going wrong with the car requires you to suddenly rearrange everything you're doing.

Being young with a nice car is nice but don't fuck yourself to make it happen

a product is never going to make you happy. the love of a good woman and doing with your hands that you enjoy are the only genuinely fulfilling activities. for some people religion, travel, time in the outdoors and excitement/adventure can be important too, but that isn't the case for everyone and you shouldn't feel compelled to pursue those things if you aren't interested. but you absolutely need a purpose and love.

try and realize this before your fortieth birthday. there are a lot of marketing forces that want to leave you a hole in your heart perfectly shaped for the product they are selling. and make no mistake dave ramsey and ford motor company are basically indistinguishable in this regard, but they will always leave you feeling like you chose wrong unless you have what is really important.
