My multiple-methhead owned 2001 honda fit that leaks like a bitch in the rain and has a perma CEL finally blew up. looked at prices for <2018 fits because i want android auto and i think im just going to get another methhead fit and swap the head unit

prices in CAD but still
>>
>>27637100
probably just ur area.
2-3yr old Civic SI are less expensive than that in my area
>>
>>27637100
just wait it out, they will fall, no one's buying cars
>>
>>27637100
That's not expensive.
>>
>>27637100
compare them to the in store prices
>>
>>27637285
just... two.. more weeks
>>
Gas prices are mooning so NPCs are realizing they can't afford to drive their suv goymobiles anymore because they were retards and bought overpriced houses 2 hours from office and are rushing to buy shitboxes with small engines. This situation is unlikely to unfuck itself so if you want a business idea you can start flipping small shitboxes with <2000 cc i4 engines or open a mechanic shop specializing on them.
>>
>>27637313
You act like it's 2009 again.
>>
>>27637100
Not OP but for everyone's reference, here's MSRP:
>2020 EX CVT $23,090 + $1,700 PDI
>2019 LX Honda Sensing CVT $20,290 + $1,655 PDI

Why would you even want a spying privacy nightmare that is a new Honda? A shitbox from 2009 won't have any of the DEF nonsense and costs pennies
>>
>>27637313
theory is good until you realize gas guzzlers haven't dropped in price at all
>>
You don't need a new car, bro. Ive owned nothing but 20 year old cars. My current one is going on 4 years of service with only basic maintenance. Paid 2k for it. Probably worth more now, kek
>>
>>27637100
>2001 Honda Fit
>2001
Did you mean 2010?
And whats stopping you from fixing the current fit?
>>
>>27637317
In 2009 gas prices were falling like a rock. They mooned in 2008, I remember that time. Anyway this is worse than back then, since we didn't have 10 years of 0% interest rates and its corresponding stagflationary effects to bite us in the ass.
>>27637350
They are dropping like a rock and the lots are filling up with them. I track RAV4, CX5 and CRV prices and they are dropping. Inventories are going up. I wouldn't want to own a large SUV right now, especially if bought at the height of the coof hysteria and free-money bonanza.
>>
>>27637395
Apparently I'm incredibly retarded, it's a 2008, idk why i typed 2001

>And what's stopping you from fixing the current fit?
Needs a new head gasket and even before it was misfiring in cyl 4, yes I replaced the spark plugs
>>
>>27638420
What makes you think its the headgasket? Ignition coils are pretty common replacement on fits after about 150k km
>>
>>27638420
Also a used engine swap will cost you under $4k CAD. Probably under $3K. Much cheaper than used cars in the current market
>>
>>27638420
>What makes you think its the headgasket?
White smoke shitting out the exhaust
>>
>>27637100
>looked at prices for <2018 fits because i want android auto
Are you a woman?
>>
>>27637100
If you think that's bad try looking for a GMT800.
>>
>>27639571
>>im just going to get another methhead fit and swap the head unit

Are you actually just retarded or just a /n/igger who can't read, in the literal next sentence I suggested I would just swap the head unit on another used fit instead of dropping 22k

You’re me last year, as I had a dead reliable Honda Accord get mechanically totaled. Get a first gen highlander
>>
>>27637285
you guys have been saying this for about a year and a half now
>dude just wait a bit longer the used car market is gonna collapse and dealers are gonna be GIVING cars away seriously bro two more weeks bro repos are crazy high right now bro just keep waiting dude seriously
>>
>>27639617
For roughly half the population they are living in the first real inflation problem era they've ever seen. The other half are old enough they either dont really remember the 70s/80s issues or are in a position to not care much.

>re: car prices
6 grand is the new 3 grand ca. 2015, and 3 grand then was the new $1500 ca. 2005. I seem to see a pattern there.

Any other signs? Thats a pretty shitty diag to write off an otherwise good car.
>How much coolant does it go through per 100km?
>Have you tried rotating ignition coils
>Have you checked for vacuum leaks
>Have you run an exhaust gas test on the cooling system
>Have you tried a compression test
>>
About 3 million poos, 2 million of which dropped in your immediate vicinity
>>
>>27639592
No, you were retarded for letting that feature limit your choices in the first place.
>>
>>27639913
>Literally standard feature on modern cars
>Easiest mod to do with old cars
>This is somehow limiting my choices
>>
>>27637100
if you want android auto i recommend going to local audio shop and they can replace the head with an android auto screen unit maybe even get updated speakers instead of getting a new car. Its a honda so they will be more than happy to work on something simple
>>
>>27637313
>work remotely
>drive about 5000 miles a year
>doesn’t matter what I drive since mpg will make little difference in yearly fuel expense
Feels good man.
>>
>>27637350
nothing drops in price anymore. i would be somewhat surprised if anything drops in price ever again.
>yonabh.jpg
>>
>>27637100
>drive car till it blows up instead of fixing it
>huh, guess I have to buy another one
>>
>>27640221
>Nothing drops in price
It's almost like if you slow the roll on the money printer and don't give ever pleb in the country thousands of dollars every few months the economy starts to heal
>>
>>27640235
there are just fewer expensive used cars (due to manufacturers pivoting to EV's and new car sales slowing), which is driving down the overall average price. if you took a car of similar make/model/mileage/condition and tried to buy it now vs tried to buy it last year the price would be 15% or so higher. and that will continue to happen basically forever.
>>
>>27640222
I guess it was mb for buying a poorly maintained shit box in high school but I did replace all the fluids when I got it and kept up with oil changes every 6-7k km
I didn't intentionally neglect it to the point of exploding
>>
>>27637342
You can remove Hondalink in about 5 minutes and Android auto runs off your phone and the car acts as a display and touch input so if you're worried about spying get rid of that too

This anon knows what’s up. I’ve been watching cx5 and crv prices lately too (kid needs a car) and inventory is up, days on lot are up, and prices are dropping.
Anon any preferences between cx5 and crv, thinking 2014 and up. Under 60k miles

If you're comfortable waiting to buy, I absolutely think you should. Prices are coming down. I just got this '24 cx-50 turbo larp edition for $33k with 7k miles (technically still the first owner since it was used as the dealers loaner vehicle). They dropped the price by like $3k to clear it out and make room for actual new cars. I thought it was a decent deal but would not be at all surprised to see prices dropping more.
>>
>>27640914
Not that guy but sick deal!
>>27640890
CRVs will be more reliable long term assuming you get the K24 and not the 1.5 T. Theyre really service friendly too.
One issue i see with Mazdas and their skyactiv is the exhaust manifold has the cat and flexpipe integrated to it. Eventually that flexpipe will go meaning a costly replacement or some weird weld job. Not sure how people are tackling it but theyve been out 10yrs now so issues should start popping out more often now
>>
>>27640350
What do you mean by remove? How can you be sure it's not transmitting after pressing decline or whatever. Preferably there'd be a broadband modem somewhere you can remove
>>
>>27637100
Those are maple cuck-bucks. Virtually worthless.
>>
>>27640890
Look for 2017 CX5 models. Newly redesigned but also don’t have the cylinder deactivation crap of the post-2019 ones.
>>
>>27641147
Removing the SIM card or the antenna connection from the modem.
>>
>>27637100
Buying a used Honda or Toyota post-covid is dumb as fuck
>>
>>27642331
Does the car have a SIM card? Is the modem not integrated into the SoC?

op is a faggot, yes this is a manual with less than 100k so it'll last to 500k+ FUCK, if I didn't buy my crosstour last year I might buy one of these.
>>
>>27642601
They never should have discontinued the Honda Element
>>
>>27643005
WHAT? You want the goyim to be able to buy a hatchback that offers more interior space than medium sized SUVs??? Are you an ANTI-SEMITE?
>>
>>27642601
>you'll buy 15 year old eco boxes for over 50% brand new sticker price and you'll LIKE IT
>>
>>27637313
This man spoke the truth here.
Cost of living increased and people spent too much on dumb shit like useless trucks doing 10mpg after lift kit, but inflation caught up and (((they))) want you back in the office.

Take my own case as an illustration - bought a 13mpg premium only Hellcat for top dollar 2 years ago, it already lost value with new units being sold at discount. I ended up having to buy yet another car to get back into the office and that’s what this anon is talking about, everybody is looking at the high fuel efficient little cars.
To make matters worse, very few new options are available as manufacturers are still surfing the covid cloud of stimmies and “but I need to tow a boat” thing.
