At what point did you know the Miata was gonna be a classic? Feels like yesterday when they were a few thousand dollars.
>>
>>27639340
They're expensive because Tick Tock kids found out about them and, because they all have more money than sense, crashed, abused, or otherwise ruined all of them.

Now you can get a Corvette cheaper than a mk1 Miata.
>>
>>27639340
man the na is so cute and pure omg
>>
>>27639340
The miata has remained fundamentally unchanged since inception and it’s still available new at a dealership today.
Not a classic.
>>
It went from a laughing stock to being revered in about 5 years. It's crazy because even in 2015 despite being 25 years old, they were dirt dirt cheap. I knew the jig was up when some kid kept trying to buy my mint NA like he was doing me some sort of favor.

I can't in good conscience sell it to some kid who will just slam it on chinese coilovers, drill holes in various body panels, fuck up the interior and god knows what else. It's a survivor tax at this point and I can't blame people for wanting their shit to go to a good home.

Whole attitude towards 20-30 y/o cars has changed ten fold in a short span of time too. An old S2000 isn't feasible for most either. People are genuinely scared of losing their analog cars.
>>
>>27639346
I don't know where they get the fucking money, I thought all us zoomers were in this together and then I just see them throwing away money on shit that I could never dream of. Probably all nepotism if I had to guess
>>
>>27639340
Hideous. The worst convertible. Slow
Pos.
>>
>>27639686
Housing is too expensive/unattainable and they often can't find gfs to combine income and build a household with

So easier to just throw the money away on hobbies and vacations. Japs did the same during the 90sm
>>
>>27639340
Pure sports car for the common man.
>>
I'm just glad the meme kept everyone away from the Z3.
>>
>>27639340
Very shortly after buying one in 2015 when all the neat shit standard on the later model started to get real fuckin scarce and expensive.
$800NZD for an open 1.8 diff now. VVT engines are practically gone, hardtops are like 3-4k and I don't even want to know what my mazdaspeed bride seats are worth now.

Even 1UZ's here used to be 1500 including ancillaries, now they're 4-5k with a locked ECU block only.
A mate has an FD3 RX7 and wont even drive it anymore.

Goddamnit. Why the simple to wrench cars becoming unattainable again.
>>
>missed out on cheap miatas
every day I draw closer to putting my finger on the eject button
>>
Why do people like these lol? They're women's cars.

they were cheap starter cars for broke wrenchlets and now that they are not cheap, you would be stupid to waste your time with one. again, nobody who makes more than a wage cuck would settle for a miata.

>buzzwords buzzwords buzzwords

wish the janny had word filters

>>27640159
I think I said this last thread but 2.5 swap isn't worth the squeeze, you get like 20whp over a 2.0 with full bolt ons, it's actually kinda crazy how inefficient that motor is. Wonder if it's the head
>>
>>27640201
meme-ata, the car that everybody praises but nobody owns when they can afford literally anything else.
>>
>>27639686
>live with parents

>(MAYBE) have a job
>make 1,000's off of whoring yourself to TikTok trends
Seems like it's pure profit for them
>>
>>27640201
What are you having a hard time comprehending? The car was cheap before, now it isn't.
>>
>>27639778
It's the plastic engine, macpherson struts, and factory rice that keeps me away from the Z3
>>
>>27640343
More for me.

A Z3 turns a 20 mile drive to the grocery store into an entertainment event.
>>
>>27640358
So does my NB. Glad we're both having fun with our vehicles of choice.
>>
>>27640201
>I think I said this last thread but 2.5 swap isn't worth the squeeze
170whp uncracked, bit over 200 cammed for not much, easy swap and $300 engines if you buy the ford. Faster than an s2k with the nc weight. I searched base cars today and found a local one for 4k. If I put my s2k into a wall that's my choice if I don't go c5
>>
some time around 1989
>>
I remember around 2013 Jalopnik and a ton of automotive blogs started to shill the Miata for obvious reasons, took all of about 5 years for people to hack up enough cars for them to appreciate
>>
you have to remember the roadster had been extinct for 20 years in the middle class market.
The MRS, S2000, and Solstice and others only existed because Mazda took the risk first.
There are few cars with such historical significance since the death of the carbonator.
Yeah it's a clasic and we knew it would be early on.
>>
>>27641457
Demographic has changed, people can't have a fun side car anymore, that's why 4 door trucks became so popular.

Years ago you had a truck and a sedan and maybe even a 3rd car like a Miata. Home/lot sizes are tiny now with barely enough parking for 2 cars.
>>
>>27641150
The 2.5 is terrible sport car engine though.
There is a kit to make a high reving 2.4 engine from it through, but it costs like 4k.

>>

it was only a laughing stock to boomer retards. it has always been well regarded amongst the driving enthusiast community
>>
>>27639912
Nice try guy, I am not selling mine.
>>
>>27644381
this.
>>
>>27644381
keep it, nobody with any sense wants it.
They are beginner cars, nothing more.
Every car reviewer loves it but none of them own one. take a guess why.
>>
I remember hearing Scotty Kilmer saying how cheap they were just 5 years ago. I hate TikTok so fucking much
>>
everyone trying to convince me miatas are great has to be some sort of psyop right? like "haha look guys we convinced him to buy a gay ass barbie car LMAO"

the YouTube algo is pushing this shit on me HARD lately
>>
>>27639340
i got my nc for $1000 like a month ago they're still kinda cheap
>>
>>27646122
Miatas are for closet fags that refused to get a real tuner car. You can do more in any form of racing, track or street, with a 5 speed sn95 mustang, and arguably upgrade it for less. Miatas are also for manlets. In 2024 you could build a 96-2004 v6 mustang with a 5 speed, dual caliper rear breaks and LSD for the same price you can by some homos "stanced" miata. Anyone that refutes this in current year is coping.
>>
>>27639353
Sorry C1 Corvette boomers! It's fucking over for you!
>>
>>27646136
I would exclude the 150hp '96-'98 V6 personally. The SPI 3.8 has 40hp more and it makes a big difference.
>>
>>27646122
schizo moment
>>
>>27646193
is this Miata in the room with us now?
>>
>>27646122
they are good starter cars, thats it. they are no longer cheap, so there are better options.
Car reviewers love a miata, but dont own one. Starter car, yes, keeper, no.
Meme-atas are basic bitch cars.
>>
>>27646260
>>27646260
car reviewers make practically no money so they have to settle for something more practical like a BRZ for themselves and some random crossover for the wife
>>
>>27646287
LOL, lmao even.

cope.
>>
>>27646365
Why even bother replying to you if you're just going to say "LMAO COPE"

fuck I'm starting to believe cars like the Miata and BRZ are litmus tests for basic intelligence like a IQ test for voting in the 1960s
>>
>>27646385
so you reply with no justification that the meme-ata is good, and cannot refute my claims... that seems like cope to me.
>>
>>27639340
Perfect car, honest, dependable, fun, cute.
>>
>>27639346
>you can get a 4 speed automatic cheaper
yeah
>>
>>27646869
In between perfect and car you left out chick, but, yea.
>>
>>27639340
Anyone who drove an NA knew because it was based on an already loved design, except it wasnt a raggedy POS. It made owning any other similar type of roadster completely worthless to own except as a collector's item or a lifelong project.

Anyone who didn't think so was just a nigger mad that their Caprice classic with a misfiring LT1 was a rattling shitbox that nobody wanted except as a getaway car for robbing liquor stores.

Of course the double nigger government came and shittied it up with their cocksucking regulations cause too many fags were crashing them while sucking their bfs aids riddled dick. But like who cares? They were gonna die anyway, so youre only delaying the inevitable.
>>
>>27639353
A 3 series is still available new but an E30 is inarguably a classic.
>>
>>27639353
