Shit wheels though
>>
I know this thread has a 0.01% chance of anyone taking it seriously but I have a Model S Performance and I'm wondering if I should "upgrade" to a Plaid.
On one hand I actually like the older Model S interior more because it has a vertical screen and actual stalks for the blinker and shifter and not buttons. But the biggest downside is the older ones have that notorious "falloff" after about 80mph. 0-60 might only be 2.5 seconds but 60-120 is about 8 seconds and you really feel it trying to merge on the highway or pass someone. Meanwhile the Plaid does 60-120 in only 4 seconds. They also charge a little faster but 99% of my charging is done at home so that isn't a huge deal.
I just wonder, if it's worth it, trading in my car for a Plaid would still cost me about $30-35, how often would I really get to use that extra 300hp. 720 is already a lot.

I think if you want the thrill of crazy acceleration, and you can comfortably afford it, it's worth it. If you can't—that's when it get complicated.

It doesn't need one because there's only one speed—fast.

My manual is attached to a longitudinal 6.2L V8, thank you very much.

If fast isn't fun, then maybe you're dead?

It's a one trick pony, I've driven several Teslas and it's all they're good at and gets old anyway. I need more than "I mashed the accelerator pedal haha wheeeee" from a car.

Ok you are autistic but others arent. Now what? Model S is the best muscle car for 99% of people

I am autistic and like the Model S.

I would honestly kill myself if I ever got bored of 700whp.

>not even 5 years old and it's already depreciated by $100k
This is why you don't buy a used EV
>>
>>28118003
That's exactly why you DO buy a used EV. Mine had a sticker of $101k when it was new in 2020. I paid 40 for it.
>>
>>28118009
Think about why they drop in value... You think the battery pack will last forever, right?
>>
>>28118020
The battery pack lasts a very long time, yes. But they drop in value because they're overpriced as fuck. My car should not have cost 101k. It's a 70k car at best. That's about what the new base Model S LR runs and that's a much more appropriate price. Tesla marks the newest thing way up when demand is high because they know the early adopters will pay it anyway, then when demand dies down they lower the price. Plaid went from 140 to 99 in just 3 years. They got 40k per car for free just because they knew they could exploit rich people and content creators who would've bought it no matter what, then after that allotment was gone they dropped it down to what it should have been sold for. They did the same thing with the cybertruck "foundation series". 20k markup for a badge and some chrome and they sold out. At 25k trucks that's 500 million dollars. Literally IRL free money glitch

Its such a stealth muscle car for the price.

>Plaid went from 140 to 99 in just 3 years
Covid supply chain mark up. This happened to all their cars. You have to remember, prior to covid, Model S was going for ~$70K or so. Then Model S was released with a premium and then covid happened then once covid died down, their car prices started dropping.
Covid particularly hit Tesla cause their only factory at the time was shutdown by California for few months. China factory came online bit later to save Tesla. Otherwise, Californian government would have killed Tesla.

Nothing to do with covid at all. Exact same thing has happened with every new car they make. Literally the exact same price drop happened with the P100D. $135k in 2017, $99k in 2019. The Model 3 Performance dropped from 65k to 56k in the same time period. But prices on the nonperformance trims saw very little change.
